When Volkswagen has renewed its Tiguan, the followers of the old model have criticized the new format a little too beefy.

At this time, Volkswagen was already looking to introduce a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that is more compact in its range. The rumors suggested that it could be the T-Roc.

However, one append today that Volkswagen will develop an SUV that will not be marketed in Europe, which can, a priori, seem ironic for a european manufacturer. It is China that Volkswagen intends to initially assemble the vehicle, which has not yet been baptized.

It will be the first vehicle manufactured by Volkswagen in china to be sold in other territories thereafter.

Designed on the very versatile MQB platform, the production will then be extended, by 2020, Mexico, Russia and Argentina. The copies sold in the United States will be built in Mexico.

On Automotive News, one can read that the German manufacturer plans to sell about 400,000 units annually of this new small SUV.

It is still too early to speak of motorization, consumption and price.

Currently, with the Touareg which has just left the catalogue, the range of SUVS offered by Volkswagen is limited to the Tiguan and Atlas, both of which are built on the platform MQB.
