We can not say that we had not seen it coming, but due to the cancellation of Ash vs Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell withdraws permanently from the role.

Bruce Campbell, actor legendary who has played Ash Williams for three films the Evil Dead and three seasons of’Ash vs Evil Dead, hangs up the chainsaw for good. He had already announced several weeks ago that if Starz cancels Ash vs the Evil Dead it would take over the role, either for a possible fourth film in the Evil Dead, or an extension of’Ash vs Evil Dead for another string, or a telefilm.

As he said on Twitter, it is death in death, because here is what he replied to a fan hoping that Netflix bought the series :

Big props to the fans for the effort, but I’m retired as Ash. #timetofrysomeotherfish https://t.co/Di1aeBV0dl

“Thanks to the fans for the support, but I do play more Ash, it is time to move on to something else.”

It is not yet known exactly what the fate of the universe the Evil Dead, but it seems complicated to extend it without this actor iconic. After all, we are not protected from a reboot or a second remake, Hollywood does carbide at that time.
