While the campaign surrounding the latest season of Game of Thrones is speeding up, its prequel The Long Night is looming more and more clearly to the horizon.

The Long Night, official title with the reference to George R. R. Martin approved, is the only prequel really announced by HBO, the other spin-offs possible, remain for the time being at the embryonic stage.

The war of the préquels

We know already the story in its broad outlines : it will be issue of the golden age of a world and its fall. Westeros will reveal its darkest secrets, the legend of Stark (apparently well away from the one we know) to the mysteries of the East, passing through the origin of the White Walkers thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones.

None of the characters of Westeros which we have become accustomed will not, therefore, of the party, but it seems that the casting emerges : Naomi Watts (The Circle in The Ring, You are going to meet a beautiful dark and unknown) are also provided in the adventure and Josh Whitehouse (Nothern Soul, Poldark) should interpret one of the first Lannister.

Removed from the show, he decided to burn it all

Unfortunately, for aficionados of Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserio, the dragons of Daenerys, these mythological creatures may not be in the program. Martin has spoken about his desire to portray a whole new Westeros in the columns of Screenrant :

“There is no Port-Réal. There is no iron Throne. There are no Targaryens. Valyria and its dragons, which are just beginning to break Ground and build their huge empire. It is played with a different world, much older, and we hope that this is what will make the series entertaining “.

The no-dragon-mood

Before the Targariyens, the only dragon riders were in Valyria, but the show will begin before the prosperity of the town. It would, therefore, not surprising that the dragons are absent and not able to warm up the kingdom (at least at the beginning).

Although this future absence is disappointing, the dragons have become in seven seasons, the emblem of Game of Thrones and it is possible that The Long Night is its own icon magic on his side (other dragons).

But do not panic, the ultimate season of Game of Thrones arrives in April and may then we repaitre of its fire-eaters.
