While we announced that the next installment of Game of Thrones novels could come out in 2017 , George RR Martin announced that a special edition on the history of Westeros universe, entitled “The Sons of the Dragon” will be released on 10 October 2017. the author himself made the announcement on his famous blog stating that this account will appear later in 2018 in the anthology titled “the Book of Swords” . It was originally reported that the entire anthology would include stories taking place in Westeros’ imaginary world, which will not be the case. Indeed, this story will be the one having a connection with A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones . To spark our curiosity, George RR Martin offers us some details about the history. This will be an extract of Fire & Blood , a fictional account of House Targaryen Martin hopes to publish once The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring have been published.
The Sons of the Dragon , as other historical accounts, should have been published in The World of Ice and Fire since it will be a chronicle of the reigns second and third Targaryen kings and Maegor Aenys I the Cruel and lives of Their mothers, wives, sisters, children, friends, enemies and rivals. At a time when a spin-off of Game of Thrones has been confirmed by HBO , we can well imagine that this story serve basis for this new series. Beyond the obvious scriptural interest of this narrative, it should not fail to delight fans of fantasy by offering to see many fights involving dragons.
