George A. Romero, the father of zombie films has died

    The legendary filmmaker and creator of films zombies modern died at the age of 77 years according to his family.

    The director died Sunday after a brief fight against lung cancer.

    Romero was known for having directed the classic 1968 Night Of The Living Dead, a film that has inspired an entire generation of filmmakers. At the time of its release, the film had caused controversy by opting for a comedian black to embody the protagonist.

     

    Romero has also directed the movies Dawn of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and The Crazies.

    He will be remembered as the man who brought the zombies in the popular culture.
