The new kid who has the right in its adaptation, it is Invincible, created by Robert Kirkman, the father of The Walking Dead. And it is Amazon that the order.

Robert Kirkman is beginning slowly but surely to weigh more in the world of cinema. The creator of comics, globally recognized and applauded for his works is seen to offer more opportunities to the studios of television channels. After The Walking Dead, commissioned by AMC in 2010, it was the turn of Cinemax (a subsidiary of HBO) adapting Outcast, a comicbook horror on its television channels, in 2016. Today, a new chance comes for Kirkman to see Invincible focused on the small screen thanks to Amazon.

It’s going to be dirty

This is not so trivial that it thatAmazon decides to compete in this environment. In the Face of its main competitor, Netflix, which is already nice and warm thanks to its exclusives Marvel (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage), Amazon tries the bet of him stepping on his flower beds. An opportunity that the studio had already entered by purchasing the rights to Cloak and Dagger a new animated series adapted from a series of comics totally unknown to the general public, to the broadcast in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

Little by little, the bird makes its nest, and Amazon grappille a few small exclusives to the right and to the left. In any case, if there is one that is well pleased with this new partnership it is the main person of the story, Robert Kirkman, as he said to Collider :

I would not have be more proud. Cory Walker, Ryan Ottley and I have worked for over 15 long years on this project. Today, to know that our heroes will live on the screen it is very exciting ! Amazon opens the doors to a new animated version that was never seen before, and I’m very excited that fans can discover it “

There, we sign direct

If Robert Kirkman is so enthusiastic at the idea of this collaboration, it is because of what Amazon plans to do an adaptation for adult rated R, so violent, barbaric, gore, with the haemoglobin in abundance and that is away from the lace. For his part, Sharon Yguado, head of programming, Amazon Studio has shown also excited that the creator of comics :

“We are all incredibly excited to see this series break down barriers in the world of animation. In a world saturated in super-heroes, we have full confidence in Robert to reverse the trends and put emphasis on a story filled with adrenaline and heart. We love his ambitious plan for the show, and think that this series will resemble nothing of what we have been seeing on television.”

EFS hello, we need a blood transfusion

To sum up, Invincible will be co-produced by Skybound (Robert Kirkman and Davil Alpert), and Amazon, and overseen by Simon Racioppa. Robert Kirkman will closely monitor her baby as an executive producer of the show alongside David Alpert (The Walking Dead) and Catherine Winder (Star Wars : The Clone Wars).

At the same time, the project had already attracted the attention of Universal Stduio, since Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are working currently on a cinema version in live-action of this universe. According to them, it will be great no matter what, which did not seem to displease at Kirkman.
