A déneigeur has attempted to enter a residence in flames in Boisbriand in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, but its efforts have not been sufficient to save a person caught in the trap.

Jeremy Bélisle is convinced that he would have been able to save this person if it had happened a few moments earlier.

The operator of the snow thrower knows that he is not responsible for the death of the victim, but he wants all the same.

“I was just bawling in my tractor because I tell myself that if I had arrived five minutes before and that I had started my run here, I might be able to save it “, he said.

Mr. Bélisle was the first to arrive on the scene of the fire. He attempted to enter the residence in flames, but in vain.

He then tried to wake the occupant of the house on the rue Delage, from which billowed smoke very dense.

“It was hot, me and another gentleman who was, I tried to wake the person, but from what I understand, it was perhaps already too late when I arrived “, he said with tears in her eyes.

    Victim not identified

The Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville has opened an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze. Since the relatives have not all been notified, the police department refused Wednesday evening to confirm whether or not the owner of the house is the victim found in the rubble.

“The most plausible hypothesis would be an accidental fire,” said police officer Martin Charron.

At least 40 firefighters from four municipalities have fought the fire. After having come to the end of the fire, they started the research and have found the body of the victim around 9: 45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
