Sherlock is a series a little unique in that the waiting time between different seasons seems to defy commercial logic. In fact, we had to wait several years between seasons 3 and 4, and it is not said that we have a day entitled to a fifth.

After watching the last episode aired, it might be logical that Sherlock is finished, as it seemed to be definitive for our heroes. But while rumors are of a fifth season for an indefinite period of time, it is still necessary that it be officially confirmed before it jumps up and down stamping with impatience.

But it is also necessary that the actors agreed to return, because this series can’t exist without them, and right then and there, it is a little more complicated. Especially in light of the recent statements of Martin Freeman, the Dr. Watson, who, at the microphone of the Telegraph, comes to admit that this was no longer as fun to do that before because of the huge pressure that put the fans on the shoulders :

“There has been no real discussion for a season 5. After the 4, we all had the impression that he had to take a break. We had done what he had. And, for me, part of this reflection is due to the reception of the series. To be quite honest, it was not far from impossible. Sherlock is quickly becoming a big monster. Even for a series such as The Office, its popularity is built slowly. But Sherlock was of a very high quality from the start. And when you start too high, it is difficult to maintain the level.

The party is over what

To be in this series, it is like being in a phenomenon worthy of a mini-Beatles. The expectations of the fans, it is not very pleasant. Because it is no longer a question of being impatient, it is more people who tell us that there has been interest to do this or that, otherwise we are idiots. In short, this is no longer fun. So yes, I think we’re done for the moment.”

So here’s the thing, Sherlock, it’s finished and it’s our fault at all. And that, we didn’t see it coming. Bravo.
