Unlike the figures that have been circulated, Quebec expects to save over 3 billion dollars with the agreement that it has signed a partnership with medical specialists.

VAT News has obtained figures which show that significant savings will be realized by 2023.

With this agreement, of 8 years, the expenditure related to the remuneration of doctors will increase by about 3% per year. It was one of the first objectives of this negotiation.

What are the gains for the doctors ?

A recurring amount of 511 million is used to fill the gap between the wages of medical specialists of Quebec and the rest of Canada.

These 511 million are reflected, for example, increase of tariffs for certain acts, an increase in the number of ultrasound exams and MRI scans, as well as additional remuneration for the doctors who hold administrative positions (in addition to their task of doctor).

In addition, another $ 1.5 billion (non-recurring) will be paid to doctors, specialists, and spread over 10 years.

The government will reimburse: -812 million (amounts that it would have had to give between 2012 and 2017) -632 million (amounts due to the averaging of payments between 2017 and 2027)
