THREE RIVERS – The City of Trois-Rivières is having problems with another of its municipal buildings. This time, it is the roof of the headquarters of the fire Department, which began to sink.

The condensation that forms in the attic would be responsible. Before deciding which intervention will be necessary, the City commissioned a thermographic survey of the interior walls of the building.

“We expect to see the report of the company, GHD, who should submit, by the end of the spring to the test suite of thermography as it is currently,” said Yvan Toutant, a spokesman for the City.

It is too early to tell if the staff who are staying at the barracks will need to be temporarily displaced, the time of the work. The building that once served as a police station in the old city of Cap-de-la-Madeleine had been the subject of a major refit in 2011 at a cost of $ 2.5 million, or $ 500,000 more than expected. The presence of asbestos in the walls and problems with the floors had justified this bill more important.

    Problems, still problems

Three-Rivers plays bad luck with his real estate. Ten buildings are affected by pyrrhotite and others suffer from structural problems, including the show room J-Antonio Thompson. This should possibly be the subject of repairs of up to $20 million.

The House of culture had to be repaired last year because of a problem of water infiltration in its walls. Finally, the underground parking lot of city hall will be the site of the work in the coming months at a cost of $4 million.
