There are novels that leaves its mark on you for life. And, when we are talking about Stephen King, we can quote several of them : the Shining, It, Salem and of course The Scourge.

It is true that, when we look back a little, Stephen King has been bringing the masterpieces to a rate limit insolent. Then of course, not everything is good in his bibliography, but there was no denying that the Master is able to construct stories that mark us and haunt us. Logical, therefore, that since the beginning of its success in bookstores, most of his works have been adapted on the small and the big screen. With a more or less happy, of course.

A devastated world

With the new version of It in 2017, thee Kingverse has proved that it is always effective and that it resonated with our questions contemportaines. It is so normal to be back for a tour in regards to the adaptations of his novels and short-stories. And among all the announcements that have been made in recent years, there has been a hold back that especially our attention, a new adaptation of the Scourge.

Roman fleuve, published in 1978, The Plague tells of the apocalypse on Earth with the extinction of humanity following the virus of the plague, leaving only 1% of the world’s population safe and sound. Of the survivors, who were divided into two camps : on one side the worshippers of the terrible Randal Flag, the other the supporters of the good Abigail. A story extremely dark and terribly that has been adapted in 1944 by Mick Garris in the form of a mini-series that, if we marked it at the time, was very nice compared to his source of inspiration.

In 2015, we had heard about a new adaptation prior to that, the following year, it does not find itself in an impasse. Since then, she no longer had too given a sign of life. So it is with some relief that we learn today, via the Hollywood Reporter, the series will be well-produced as it comes to find a diffuser. Indeed, The Scourge is expected to arrive on the service, CBS All Access , which has just been officially ordered for a season of 10 episodes to the film’s director Josh Boone The New Mutants).

Survivors misfits

So for the moment, no release date has been unveiled, nor any member of his cast, Stephen King himself was quick to issue a press release to say all the good he thought of this great news :

“I am very happy that The Scourge may be facing a new life on this platform is exciting. The people involved are men and women who know exactly what they are doing. The result will surely be something incredible and memorable. I am confident that the series will take audiences into a world that he doesn’t know really.”

A statement more than promising. Only thing left is to cross fingers so that they don’t loupent not.
