soy milk

30% to 50% of the French digest lactose, according to the health Insurance. Their body has a deficiency of lactase, or it is he who can digest the sugar found in milk. The lactose, not digested, ferments in the stomach. These people then suffer from digestive problems : bloating, diarrhea, stomach cramps. Today, one can easily replace the cow milk with plant milk or other milk from animals, the image of the goat’s milk. All are not equal nutritionally. A McGill university study in Canada shows that soy milk is the best milk plant on account of its nutritional intake. The results of their study are published on the site EurekAlert!.

The soy milk, just behind the cow’s milk

The canadian researchers are interested in the four main plant milks : soy milk, rice milk, almond milk and coconut milk. They compare their advantages and disadvantages, from a nutritional point of view. The soy is in the first position of the ranking, it is the one that is closest to the milk of cow, considering its contributions. It is rich in protein, contains isoflavones, phytonutrients, which are known for their anti-carcinogenic.

The soy, however, has some disadvantages : a pronounced flavour that not everyone appreciates, the presence of anti-nutrients (substances that alter the absorption of good nutrients), especially, some people also develop allergy to soy and its derivatives.

The other milk less nutritious

The rice milk is not very nutritious and rich in sugar. This is what makes its taste more pleasant than that of soy milk. The coconut milk is rich in saturated fats and does not contain proteins. But it is low in calories and can help to reduce the level of bad cholesterol. Scientists believe the almond milk less interesting than the soy, as it does not provide the essential nutrients, even if it may also help to decrease the bad cholesterol and the weight loss, due to the presence of fats, mono-saturated. The soy milk is the most nutritious among all these plant milks.

It must, however, ensure to consume a version no or little sweetness of this drink. It is on this type of products that the researchers have worked. Attention, the plant milks are not recommended for infants. They contain too little vitamin D and a soy allergy little particularly develop in the child if he consumes too early. In June 2016, the national agency of health security, food, environment and labour, has issued a warning to remind parents that breast milk is best for infants and that specific preparations are available for children intolerant.
