Wheels are an essential part of any vehicle. They provide traction and stability and can influence the performance of your car in several ways. The global automotive wheel market was worth $30,011.3 million in 2017 and is expected to reach $47,355.3 million by 2025.

Hence, choosing the right wheel type for your vehicle is essential. If you’re unsure about the type, this blog post is for you. It will discuss the full range of vehicle wheels available online and what each is best suited for.

1) Steel Wheels

Steel wheels are known for being durable, and they’re a popular choice for many different types of vehicles. Some benefits of buying steel wheels are:

-They’re typically less expensive than other types of wheels.

-They offer good performance in a variety of different conditions.

-They’re easy to find and are widely available.

If you’re looking for an affordable option that will perform well in many different situations, steel wheels may be the right choice.

2) Alloy Wheels

Alloy is made of aluminium and magnesium, making it strong and lightweight. These wheels are known for their durability and performance.

They are ideal for those who want to improve the look of their car. For example, they fit well with sports cars. However, keep in mind that these wheels come with a higher price tag

3) Magnesium Alloy Wheels

Magnesium is the lightest of all the metals used to make wheels which makes them the lightest wheels available.

They’re also solid, making them ideal for high-performance cars that need to accelerate quickly and brake hard. Other benefits of investing in magnesium wheels are:

– Increased fuel efficiency

– Improved handling

– Quicker acceleration

– Reduced brake fade

4) Carbon Fiber Composite Wheels

Carbon fibre composites are made from strands of carbon woven together and then set in a resin. They are solid and lightweight and are, thereby suitable for high-performance vehicles. However, they can be expensive.

Some important reasons to buy these wheels for your vehicle:

-To enhance the look of your car

-To improve its performance

-To change the size or type of tires

-To reduce weight

-For better fuel economy

-For off-road use

5) Wire Spoke Wheels

These are the kind of wheels that you typically see on classic cars. They are made up of wire spokes that radiate out from the centre hub. Wire spoke wheels are not as standard as they once were, but they can still be found on some vintage vehicles.

Some unique features of wire-spoke wheels are:

-They offer a lot of durability in terms of being able to handle heavy loads.

-They also have a lot of shock absorption qualities.

-The spokes can be easily replaced if they become damaged.

Final Thoughts

When you check the full range of wheels for your car, the important thing is that you pick the right size and style for your vehicle. There are many different types of vehicle wheels out there, but you should find the perfect setting for your car with a bit of research.
The post What Are the Different Types of Vehicle Wheels You Can Buy Online? first appeared on The Siver Times.

There are many reasons why you would need to purchase yourself a new car. When you eventually decide it’s time to do this, you will need to ensure you do it the right way. This guide will explain what you need to know.

Budget Well

Know that you will need to budget well to afford your new car. It will depend on what sort of car you’re after, as no two cars will share the same price. If you haven’t got any savings, then you should put off purchasing a car unless it’s an emergency. If you feel like it’s needed, then it could be worth speaking to your employer to find out if they could offer you a temporary company car. It will depend on the nature of your work, of course, and if you decide to go down this route, you should make it clear to your employer about your intentions to own your own car and how you will look after this one.

Look Into The Used Car Market

Whilst most car buyers believe they want a new car when purchasing, they may be able to find the exact same thing they’re looking for within the used car market. Not only may the car be in the same condition as brand new, whether it’d driven a few miles or not, but it will also be available at a cheaper rate. That’s because cars lose a lot of their value once sold. This is why a new car is never a good investment unless you get it affordably and plan to have it for years and years. If you look to sell It within five years, you will likely have lost a lot of money.

There are a few different ways to find used cars. You could browse social media to see if anyone in your immediate circle is offering one, or you could look online in general. There will be sites that allow individuals to post cars for sale, which will need to be approved by the site to ensure the transaction is legit.

Alternatively, you could look into local lots and dealerships that host a variety of vehicles on site for you to browse. This could give you a better indication of what’s available. If you’re worried about how you could get your new vehicle if you look online, then know that used car dealerships in Las Vegas, such as Echo Park, will be able to deliver cars to their delivery centers across the country. This helps you find somewhere suitable to pick up your car, saving money as well as time.

Research The Model And Brand

Before purchasing your new car, you should know exactly what you want. If not exactly, then you should think more about what sort of thing you’re looking for. It could be a dream car or type that you’re after, or there may be a brand that you admire.

Remember that certain brands will offer more models so that there is something for everyone. But some luxury cars will have more models to have fewer buyers. This is because they can afford to have more premium buyers who want the luxuries that most wouldn’t be able to afford. If this sounds like you, then it’s worth saving money up towards this purchase.
The post Purchasing A Car: What You Need To Know first appeared on The Siver Times.

When you purchase a new car, there’s a lot that typically goes into the decision-making process. You consider all kinds of factors, do your research and comparisons, and then use what you’ve gathered to make an informed decision. So, why isn’t that same sort of care put into finding the best auto insurance for your needs? Without even realizing it, you could be paying more than necessary or not have the right kind of coverage.

To ensure your auto insurance needs are met, here are five things to look for when choosing the right policy.

What are Your Coverage Requirements?

It’s important to note that not everyone’s requirements are the same when it comes to coverage. What this means is that a one-size-fits-all approach to auto insurance isn’t usually the best answer. The coverage requirements will vary based on the state you live in, and of course, on what you need. Some drivers are willing to take on a bit more risk than others, which means they may not require as much coverage. Keep in mind that the lower the coverage is in the policy, the cheaper it will be.

How Will Your Driving Record Affect Your Rate?

Both good and bad drivers can be affected by their driving record, so it’s a good idea to speak to the potential insurance provider and ask how your rate will change. Unfortunately, a bad driving record will negatively reflect in the price, usually making the policy much more expensive. That doesn’t mean you can’t shop around and find a better rate; it just means you need to be prepared to pay more.

How Much Driving Do You Do?

Did you also know that the amount of driving you do will affect your car insurance costs? If you don’t do a lot of driving, work from home and rarely go out in the car, then you can look into mileage-based policies, which will end up saving you quite a bit of cash.

Your Car Will Affect the Rate

The car you drive will also factor into the price of the policy. This is precisely why it’s wise to check insurance rates when shopping for a new vehicle to ensure they won’t skyrocket with the purchase. Insurance companies look at each make and model to determine how likely a claim would be on that particular vehicle.

Can You Bundle It with Other Types of Insurance?

You may also want to look into whether auto insurance can be bundled with other types of insurance, which will end up saving you money. For example, you can bundle AARP auto insurance with such products as home, renters, or condo insurance. Bundling your AARP auto insurance can result in savings of up to 5% on the auto portion alone.

Using these tips and advice, you’ll be able to wade through the many auto insurance options and find the one that best suits your needs and your budget.
The post 5 Things to Look for When Choosing Auto Insurance first appeared on The Siver Times.

Buying a new car, like many new purchases you make, can be an exciting prospect. Being able to get into the driving seat and experience all the new features you’ve been wanting feels fantastic.

There are plenty of things that need to be done first, and the time between starting your search and getting your new car can take a while if you’re not prepared. Understanding the car buying process, where things can take time and how you can speed this up will have you setting off in no time.

Shopping for a new car

Finding your ideal car

This is probably the most exciting part and the first step in the process – figuring out which new car to buy. Set out what essential criteria your new car needs to meet and start searching.

If you’re including this in how long it takes to buy a car, then it’s really up to the buyer. Some people take months to decide on a car, while others can find their perfect match in a day.

Getting your finances in order

After you’ve got an idea of what car you’d like, you need to make sure your finances for buying a car match up with the rough amount they typically sell for.

If you’re looking at a car that’s outside of your current budget, you’ll need to wait and save until you can afford it. There are car leasing options you can discuss with dealerships, but you have to be sure it’s the right option for you.

Negotiating a price

Some people will skip this step, but if getting the best price is important to you then you will likely want to shop around.

There are car dealerships all over the UK, from Ford dealerships in Wales to Kia dealers in Northern Ireland – make sure to check a couple before settling, or you could be missing out on a better deal.

It can add a day or two onto the car buying process, but the outcome an be that you negotiate a better price on your new car and save a significant amount.

Buying a car

Once you’ve taken care of all the preamble, found your ideal car and are ready to make a purchase, the actual buying process is relatively straightforward.

If you’ve got your financing sorted out and come equipped with the correct paperwork, you can typically purchase a car from a dealership in roughly 2-3 hours.

Arriving at a dealership with more questions that require answering will add to the time it will take, which can leave you sitting around for quite a while. With nothing organised or agreed in advance, such as negotiating on price, this process could be closer to 6 hours in total.

Plus, if you’re still deciding whether to lease your new car or use your savings when you arrive at the dealership, you might have to make a lengthy decision then and there.

Can I make the car buying process go faster?

By knowing exactly what you want from a dealership and sorting out all your finances in advance, you’ll save a significant portion of time.

Any decisions made in advance will help you to communicate effectively with a sales representative at a dealership, cutting down the number of questions that need answering.

It’s also important to consider whether it’s better for the process go as quickly as possible. Rushing into a car sale could leave you dissatisfied later down the road if you didn’t think everything through, or in a more difficult financial situation if you overstretched your budget. Carefully consider your options and make sure to go at a pace that suits you.
The post How quick is the process of buying a car? first appeared on The Siver Times.

When it comes to a showdown between a vehicle and a pedestrian, the vehicle is going to win every time. Even when a pedestrian is following the safety rules, that doesn’t mean the cars on the road are doing the same. In some cases, accidents may be caused due to the pedestrian’s own actions.

More often than not, pedestrian accidents often happen due to negligence — on either the driver’s or the pedestrian’s part. To ensure that you aren’t seriously injured or even killed, there are some steps you can take to protect yourself.

1. Never Assume it’s Safe to Cross

You might think that because you are at a crosswalk that it is safe to cross. Assuming this could lead to disaster.

At any time, there are things going on inside a car that can distract the driver. Screaming kids, loud music, phones or exhaustion, among other things, could mean that they don’t see you crossing the street. Even if you are at a designated crosswalk, it’s imperative that you look both ways and ensure that drivers are going to stop before you decide to head across the street.

You’ll also want to keep your eyes open for drivers that run red lights or are attempting to make a turn. Even though you might have the right of way, you aren’t going to come out the winner when confronted by a car. Take steps to keep yourself safe.

2. Only Cross in Designated Areas

Speaking of designated crosswalks, it’s in your best interest to ensure that this is the only place you are crossing the street. It’s also helpful if there are signals and/or crossing guards. Make sure to only cross when the sign says “Walk” or when the guard tells you it’s okay.

Avoid jaywalking at all costs. Attempting to cross the street in a place that isn’t marked for pedestrians increases your chances of not being seen and getting hit by a car.

If there are a lot of cars on the side of the road, standing in between them will hide you from oncoming traffic. The areas around designated crosswalks are usually open so that you are visible to drivers, making it the safest open when crossing the street.

3. Cross With Predictability

To prevent accidents from occurring while crossing the street, walk in a straight line from one destination to the other. If you encounter an impatient motorist, once you are out of the way (whether you are on the sidewalk or not), they may decide to move forward as fast as possible.

If you suddenly turn around to head back the way you came, this could lead to a collision. Should you find that you have to turn around for whatever reason, make sure to stop and make sure that the driver is aware of what’s going on. Then, move to the sidewalk as quickly as possible.

4. Make Yourself Visible

Walking during the day can be dangerous, but the risk factor increases exponentially when it gets dark. For your safety, do what you can to make yourself visible. This includes wearing bright, reflective clothing. You might also consider carrying a light with you.

Since most cellphones have a flashlight feature, consider using this to make yourself visible and reduce your chances of getting hit by a car.

4. Face Oncoming Traffic

In areas where there is no sidewalk, you want to face oncoming traffic while you walk. This gives you the opportunity to see what is coming at you. If you need to move out of the way, hopefully you’ll have enough time to do so to avoid an impact.

Always Be Aware

As a pedestrian, you might think that you have the right of way, but this isn’t always true. If you find yourself in a confrontation with a vehicle, you aren’t going to win. Keep yourself safe. Always be aware of your surroundings and never assume that the driver sees you.
The post How Pedestrians Can Prevent Car Accidents first appeared on The Siver Times.

Deciding whether to head for court or settle in the aftermath of a car accident can be difficult. In most cases, it is far better to agree to a settlement rather than spend lots of time in court. This is usually the easiest, fast and by far the least expensive option.

The advantages of a settlement are that you’ll get your compensation faster and you’ll spend less time in court or avoid it altogether. This means no dealing with an unpredictable jury and fewer legal fees being taken out of your award.

While these advantages are very real, there are also advantages in some situations that can make court a more desirable option. Suing in court offers benefits that include the possibility for greater compensation, the opportunity to tell your story and have it made public record, and the opportunity to hold the at-fault party accountable for punitive damages when applicable.

How to Decide: Pros vs. Cons

The following are some of the considerations that will influence your decision of whether or not to accept a settlement or move forward with a trial.

Your First Steps

The first thing you’ll want to do after your accident is find legal counsel. The lawyer will tell you about your rights and your options. They will also help you gather evidence, speak to any potential witnesses, get in touch with medical professionals, and make the initial court case.

Once this is done, the lawyer writes a demand letter on your behalf. Click here if you want to learn more about what you should do after a car accident.

A Demand Letter

A demand letter is a legal document. The letter lays out the facts of the case. This is where you’ll be asked to provide a chronological accounting of what happened, why it happened, and how it happened. It’s also where you explain the impact of the accident on your life.

This letter will also ask for compensation. Compensation is designed to do things such as replace your lost income, pay for the cost of damages to your car, and pay any outstanding medical bills.

This letter is sent to the other party’s insurance company. If they’ve hired legal counsel, it will also go to the defendant’s lawyer. After a period of time, usually a week or two, you can expect a response. The insurance company will typically give you a detailed response in writing. This includes any legal issues that might apply to your case. It will also include the amount of compensation they are going to offer.

Getting It Over With

Even a minor car accident can lead to serious injuries. You might have broken bones and other problems that can make it hard to get to work or even do your work at all. A settlement gets you funds faster. It also means you can avoid paying lots of legal fees. There’s no need to get access to medical documents or spend money working with a team of experts over a period of months. You don’t have to worry about keeping track of court dates and taking time off from work that may not be compensated.

The Opportunity to Move Forward

While a settlement offers the chance to move past the accident, the court system allows for the redress of grievances directly. Heading to court means your voice will be heard. It also means you can confront someone who hurt you directly. Your lawyer will spell out what happened and how it has impacted your life. Unlike an insurance company, juries are not bound by company policies, nor are they wishing to preserve a corporation’s profits.

At the same time, the jury may be swayed by factors other than the evidence. Unlike a settlement, there is no guarantee of compensation. You might walk away with less than you anticipated or even with nothing at all. Going to court is far riskier than accepting the money from an insurance company. Careful consideration of all of these factors will help you make the right choice.
The post Car Accident Injury Claim: Settle or Sue in Court? first appeared on The Siver Times.

Car crashes can be life-changing experiences. Highly affecting, they can leave people feeling emotionally and physically vulnerable and cause an unsuspected drain on their finances. A rise in insurance premiums, the length of time it takes to settle a car accident claim, time off work and repair costs on the vehicle are just some of the hidden costs of car crashes. Crashes cannot always be explained as even the most careful, considerate drivers can find themselves caught up in a crash. Nonetheless, there are some ways to ensure that a person is at their best when driving, to minimise the risk of crashes, at least to a degree.

Keep hydrated and replenished

It’s very important to keep hydrated and replenished throughout the day. Failing to take in enough liquids is a seriously under appreciated problem. Not drinking enough water can result in seriously diminished concentration, a lack of focus, distracting headaches and even serious migraines. Driving home from work on a hot day without having enough water is a sure fire way to run into problems. It can be very useful to keep a bottle of water in the trunk of the car, just in case there is ever a need for rehydration.

Driving glasses

Perhaps you’re not driving home with the top down on a 70’s Cadillac, the sun beating down on the open road as you cruise towards your destination, but you don’t have to be Vegas-bound or going to a music festival to put on a pair of driving shades. Driving sunglasses can avoid the nasty glare that can come off of the road on a hot day, or the glints or light reflected in a shop window. It might sound trivial but it’s a more common problem than you might expect! Numerous accidents are the result of sudden vision issues. Keeping a pair of driving glasses in the car ensures that a vehicle owner always has the option to put them on if they need to.

Avoiding road rage

It’s easy to get worked up when driving, especially when there’s traffic. Other road users aren’t always as considerate as we would like them to be, and it can be frustrating to see bad manners or outright flouting of the rules of the road. Getting cut off when in a rush, or not being given the correct right of way can be an absolute nightmare. Nonetheless, it’s important to try and keep a cool head and not to let other people’s inconsiderate manoeuvres ruin our journey. Many crashes are the result of lapses in judgement as a result of annoyance at other road users. It’s easier said than done, but it’s important to try and ignore others bad practice and try to focus on the road as much as possible. Road rage is sometimes inevitable, but it’s a part of driving we all need to try and avoid! Always attempt to keep your cool.
The post Staying focused on the road and avoiding accidents first appeared on The Siver Times.

When we travel in the car, we do so with safety in mind. We wear our seatbelts, we ensure all passengers are buckled in or belted up, we check our mirrors, pull away slowly and always drive as diligently as possible.

Sadly, not every driver is as attentive and as conscientious as you are, and it may trouble you to know that accidents caused by distracted driving cause huge amounts of damage and cost thousands of lives every single year. Being caught up in an accident that wasn’t your fault can change your life, you could be left with injuries that mean you can no longer work or provide for your family, you may suffer from mental health issues as a direct result of the trauma you’ve experienced and you could even find yourself in debt with out of control medical bills.

It’s safe to say, that one moment of distraction for one driver, can cause potentially years of heartache and pain for the other. Speak to this car accident lawyer from Fort Lauderdale immediately if you’ve been in a car accident that wasn’t your fault.

Here we’ll explore the different types and causes of distracted driving, and how other road users could be putting your life at risk.

Using the phone

Making or taking a phone call whilst you’re driving is illegal. Why? Because when you’re on the phone, drivers cannot give their full attention to the road ahead, not forgetting that holding your phone up to your ear means you don’t have full control of the vehicle. Some states advocate the use of Bluetooth devices, however, in most states they’re illegal.

But we don’t just use our phones to make calls anymore, we text, direct message, check our emails, our calendars, use the GPS, check social media, take photographs, stream movies, watch YouTube and even handle our banking all from the palm of our hands. It’s this convenience and temptation to look at our devices that make them so deadly behind the wheel.

Passengers

Crying babies, cross toddlers, siblings fighting or drunk friends. Passengers can be dangerously distracting. If a driver is too busy trying to pacify their hungry baby whilst driving down the freeway then they’re less likely to spot potential hazards and other road users in time.

Adjusting anything in the vehicle

The GPS, the radio dial, the skip button on your playlist or even the air con – if you’re fiddling around with buttons and dials, then you’re not looking at the road ahead. Road conditions can change in an instant, so keeping your eyes on the road is essential to keep yourself and other road users safe.

Eating and drinking

Tilting your head to drink that hot coffee you just picked up from the drive-through or eating your breakfast on the way to work could prove to be life-changing. Eating or drinking behind the wheel is distracting and you simply can’t do both, no matter how good at multitasking you think you are.

Final thoughts…

If you’ve been in a car accident caused by distracted driving or due to another form of negligence, reach out to a PI lawyer, right now.
The post Distracted driving.

We’ve all seen cars wander gradually out of their path in adjacent lanes on a bridge or a highway. This may also be a sign of nothing but a rare lack of focus, but lane drifting can often be a symbol of a far more severe issue.

Throughout this post, consciously learning about the other driver’s actions might help you find valuable facts about going ahead with a claim of personal injury.

Distracted Drivers

While several causes may lead to driver incompetence on the road, if you see the other driver moving in and out or wandering into different paths, that may be a strong indication that he or she has become dizzy or disturbed behind the wheel. Lane drifting can sound harmless but may potentially contribute to catastrophic car accidents.

When a driver suddenly comes into your lane, you have little or no response time, which may result in a serious accident. Also, technology is being built and implemented to identify when the car exits the unsafe lane to help mitigate incidents of this kind.

Distracted drivers can fuse on top of other cars carelessly, drift off their lanes and overcorrect until they notice. These are often prone to cause crashes at the rear end arising from the inability to see vehicles stopped.

Medical Emergency

A driver may have a heart attack, stroke, or other medical condition behind the wheel, which can cause the dangerous lane exit. Ambulances should be required to provide on-scene emergency medical treatment, while an examination will decide if this is the case. Do contact a local auto accidents attorney if you notice any accident.

Equipment Failures

Sometimes a driver is unable to control a lane departure accident. That may be the case if a piece of machinery crashes, leading to loss of power of the car. For instance, a tire blowout may cause a vehicle to swerve, or fly off the path incoherently.

If it’s the former, the manufacturer may be blamed for the accident. The above may be found accountable by a component supplier.

Lane Drifting Hazards

Individuals drifting into the lane can be fortunate enough to have multiple inches of space before reaching another car, but that isn’t always the case. Sometimes, the automobile can be pushed back, which might force the motor into a tailspin or a windshield. It may end in severe accidents and could require months or years to heal.

Lane departure warning systems are useful when alerting the driver while moving off their lane, but if the driver is lost due to fatigue, alcohol or a medical condition, such devices do not help deter an accident.

Sometimes, when you are zone out, and you get startled by some other driver and you swerve back into your path. In a hastened pulse you know that leading to a small lack in concentration you have barely missed falling into a crash.

A personal injury attorney who specializes in prosecuting car accidents will help you discover the causes for a crash and determines the liability of the other driver to you.
The post What Are the Causes of Lane-Drift Accidents? first appeared on The Siver Times.

Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft have become extremely popular in recent years, particularly in major cities. These companies are hiring drivers to offer a convenient and often cheaper alternative to traditional taxi services. Riders can use their smartphones to request an Uber or Lyft and take a ride within minutes. Drivers pick them up and follow maps and/or navigation to get them where they want to go.

While these services are generally considered safe, there is the danger of accidents or other harm. If you or anyone you know has been in an Uber accident, don’t hesitate to look up a lawyer for Uber accidents in Vegas, or in the city you reside. You will be wise to lawyer up because you might not understand what claims you’re entitled to unless you enlist legal help.

Here’s how you can stay safe when you’re using a ride share service.

Always check ratings

If a driver has had problems with passengers in the past, it is likely they will have bad reviews. Check to see if there are bad reviews on the driver who is scheduled to pick you up. If the driver does, the Uber or Lyft should be canceled and a new driver should be scheduled.

Don’t ride shotgun

Passengers riding in the front seat were on the receiving end of the assaults, groping and other unwanted behaviours. The rear seat provides distance from the driver and the ability to exit the vehicle when an incident occurs. Always choose the place you feel most safe.

Always use maps

Use the ridesharing application or a mapping application like Waze on your smartphone to view the route while you’re traveling. This will ensure the driver uses the most efficient route and will take you to the correct destination. It will also ensure the driver doesn’t mislead you while taking you to your destination.

Choose groups

Numbers always provide safety. Ride to your destination with friends or family members wherever possible. If you’re traveling alone and feel uncomfortable, call a friend or member of your family and let them know where you’re going and when you’re going to arrive. You can send them your live location if needed, so they know when you’re on the move.

Trust your gut

If you feel uncomfortable or feel something is wrong then don’t get into the car. If you are already in the car, simply ask to be dropped off at the safe location nearest you. If the driver refuses, call 911 straight away and prepare to run!

Check the driver’s details

Make sure the driver matches their image in the app and ask them for their name before they get into the vehicle. Don’t enter the vehicle and notify authorities if they don’t resemble their photo and/or don’t give the correct name. Also, ensure that the license plate of the vehicle in front of you matches the one given on the app. This way, you’ll know that the driver is who they say they are!
The post How To Stay Safe While Ride Sharing! first appeared on The Siver Times.

Introduction

If you’ve ever wondered how your car processes fuel within the engine and creates enough energy to propel your car forwards, you’ve come to the right place.

In most vehicles, a fuel injection system is in place to ensure that the engine can run smoothly. These systems are in place in most internal combustion engines or engines found in cars and aircraft.

In this article, we’ll discuss the three major types of fuel injection systems, the components of the system, and the history of the design. We’ll also highlight some common issues and how to spot them in your vehicle.

Overview

The task of all fuel injection systems is to supply fuel to the combustion process. The system helps to optimize power, efficiency, reliability, operation and, cost. With a fully functional fuel injection system, your vehicle will have a smoother throttle response, a more reliable adjustment to changes in temperature and pressure, fewer maintenance needs and better efficiency of fuel.

So, why do we need this system in our cars? Essentially, fuel injection systems allow the combustion (or burning) process to occur by combining air and fuel. This combustion of fuel occurs within the engine, creates energy and makes the car go. It goes without saying that without this process, your car would be pretty useless.

History

In the early days of automotive engineering, fuel and air were mixed by carburetors. These days, most vehicles use fuel injection systems, but carburetors can still be found in small engines.

The first fuel injector device was designed by Herbert Akroyd Stuart in the late 1890s. He used what was known as a jerk pump to meter out oil to an injector at high pressure. By the 1920s, the fuel injection system was commonly found in most commercially sold Diesel engines.

Another type of fuel injector, known as the indirect gasoline injection system, was developed by French engineer Leon Levasseur in1902. This system was used first in aircraft, before making its way into vehicle engines in the 1920s.

Direct fuel injection was used in vehicles and aircraft during the Second World War. Rolls-Royce and other well-known manufacturers implemented this system in their vehicles.

The electronic injection system came into prominence in the 1940s, with the tests of Alfa Romeo, who designed a circulating fuel pump system that used six electric injectors and a semi-high-pressure design.

Direct vs indirect fuel injection

Petrol fuel injection is always an indirect system. Petrol is injected into the inlet port instead of being injected straight into the combustion chambers. Indirect injection allows the fuel to mix with air before entering the chamber.

With direct injection, most commonly used in Diesel engines, diesel is fed into a cylinder that is filled with compressed air rather than mixing with air before entering the chamber.

The three main types of fuel injection

These are the three main types of injection systems that you’ll find in most vehicles.

1. Diesel fuel injection

While a vast majority of Diesel engines use a direct system, others use an indirect system. Indirect diesel injection requires the diesel to be injected into a pre-combustion chamber, before passing through a small passage on its way to the cylinder head. Within the cylinder, the air is drawn in, then heated and compressed. This atomizes the fuel which then self-ignites.

2. Basic fuel injection

Modern petrol systems all use indirect injection. The pressurized fuel is pumped from the fuel tank to the engine, where it’s distributed to a series of cylinders. Fuel is then sent to either the inlet manifold or the inlet port by the injector. The injector system is similar to a hose or spray bottle, with fuel being ejected in a misty form. As air passes through the inlet, it mixes with the fuel before the combined fuel and air move to the combustion chamber.

Fuel injectors must be fitted so that the fuel is sprayed in the direction of the inlet valve. Depending on what kind of injection system you have, you will need one of two types of injector.

The continuous injection system sprays fuel into the inlet port, you guessed it, continuously. While the engine is running, there will be a constant spray of fuel. The injector in this system doesn’t control the flow of the fuel and the flow is consistent. Its only job is to change the fuel’s consistency into a mist.

The timed or pulsed injection system delivers fuel in short, sharp bursts. These bursts can be controlled mechanically or electronically. These days, because of the inconsistency and fallibility of the mechanical injectors, EFi, or electronic fuel injection, has largely taken over, leading to an increase in reliability and a decrease in cost.

3. Mechanical fuel injection

This type of fuel injection is no longer common in modern cars. It was used for sports cars in the 1960s and ’70s.

In the mechanical system, you’ll find a high-pressure electric fuel pump near the fuel tank that pumps fuel to a fuel accumulator. This ensures that the fuel supply stays consistent and smooths over the pulses of fuel from the pump, keeping the supply steady. The fuel then passes through a filter before entering the fuel distributor., where it is sent to the cylinders.

The fuel amount is metered by a flap valve in the engine’s air tank which moves according to airflow. When the throttle is opened, airflow is increased, and more fuel is allowed into the cylinders.

Main components of the system

To understand how the system works, it’s important to get a grasp of how it’s built. Within the system, you’ll find the following parts:

Fuel tank

Fuel feed pump

Injection pump

Governors

Fuel injector

Nozzle

The fuel tank holds a reservoir of fuel and maintains this fuel at a steady temperature.

The fuel feed pump sends fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel injection pump.

The injection pump sends the correct amount of fuel to the injector at high pressure and the right time.

Governors are in place in some systems to regulate the fuel quantity when the engine is running at a high speed.

Fuel injectors allow for quick combustion. The injector atomizes the fuel into a mist which aids in the mixing process. It sprays droplets of fuel into the cylinder.

The nozzle is a component of the injector. Its job is to atomize the fuel.

Common Issues with fuel injection systems

Over time, or with poor maintenance, the fuel injection system can become damaged and faulty. You must take your car to a mechanic for frequent servicing to avoid any of these issues. Once the system does develop an issue, it will only get worse, and you risk damaging the parts even more.

1. Clogged injector

When an injector becomes clogged, petrol can’t make its way to the intake manifold. This can occur over time from a build-up of rust. It can occur if you happen to leave your car in idle mode or if you haven’t had the car serviced in a while.

2. Dirt build-up in the system

Injectors can leave behind a residue. Because of the high pressure and heat within the system, this can burn and begin to hinder the effectiveness of the system. It will result in a weak spray and an uneven pulse pattern.

3. The injector is stuck shut

If your fuel injector is unable to open, it won’t be able to send fuel through the nozzle. This can occur from rust damage or faulty windings and springs.

4. A leak in the system

This can occur over time from use. A leak will eventually lead to high fuel consumption, hard starting and general poor performance of your vehicle.

Signs you may need your fuel injection system serviced

If you notice any of these signs, it’s probably time you had a mechanic take a look at your fuel injection system.

1. Engine is misfiring

When the fuel supply is too low, your engine may misfire. This could be a sign of a clog, dirt build-up or a stuck injector.

2. Uneven engine power

If your engine is revving, this might be a sign of a dirty fuel injector causing an unsteady supply of fuel to the engine.

3. Wasting fuel

If you seem to be going through petrol too quickly, this is likely a signal of a leak in the system.

4. Smell

A strong smell of petrol occurs when fuel is getting into parts of the system where it doesn’t belong. The smell of fuel is also a tell-tale sign of a leak or of an injector that is stuck in an open position.

Final Thoughts

We hope this guide to fuel injection systems has given you a better grasp of how the engine of your car works. The fuel injection system permits the fuel and air to mix at the perfect ratio thus allowing combustion within the engine.

If you notice any of the engine issues we’ve discussed above, be sure to visit a mechanical engineer who can assess the system and ensure it’s in good health.
The post How the fuel injection system works in your car first appeared on The Siver Times.

It
takes time before you decide to buy or lease a car. You have several factors to
consider. It’s a major investment, so you need to be smart. If you choose the
wrong option, you will suffer from the consequences.

Decide
how much you’re willing to pay

Determine
the amount that you want to pay first before you decide if you will buy or
lease. You should also identify the specific model that would be suitable for
you. If you can afford the cost of a new car, you can go ahead and pursue that
transaction. If you want to save money, a car lease deal would be good for you.

Identify
your needs

You
also need to know what your needs are. If you already know the type of vehicle
that you need and you’re confident that your needs will remain the same for
several years, a new car would be okay. However, if you think your needs will
change soon and you only need a vehicle to use temporarily, a lease deal would
suffice. Once the lease is over and your needs have changed, you can return the
car and buy a new one.

Understand
the specs of car models

If
you’re not a car enthusiast, it’s time for you to start understanding the specs
of various car models. When reading them online or when you listen to the
explanation of a dealer, it’s easier for you to understand. You can also
compare the choices easily if you know the terms well. You won’t get fooled into
purchasing a model that’s not close to what you want by dealers who will try to
talk you into it.

Consult
with your family

If
you live alone, you can decide which car you want based on your needs. However,
if you have a family, you have to consider them in the process. They might have
other reasons for using the car, and the model you are thinking of buying might
not be suitable.

Check
your other expenses

Even
if you already have enough money to afford to finance a car, you might have
other expenses to consider. You also need to pay existing debts or save money
for possible emergencies. Therefore, you can’t splurge on a car if it will cost
you a lot. You don’t want to get buried in debts just because you decided to
purchase or lease a car.

Once
you take these factors into consideration, it’s time to decide if you will buy
or lease. The goal is for you to have a car that suits your needs without
placing you in a major financial hole. If you decide to lease a car, you can
consider the services offered by https://www.genusleasing.com.

Don’t
rush the process, since a car is a major investment. If you think that right
now isn’t the best time to finance a car, you should wait until the right time
comes.
The post Things to Do Before Deciding if You Will Buy or Lease a Car first appeared on The Siver Times.

Rarely does someone buy a dirt bike that
they feel is perfect from end to end. As soon as the new wears off, and many
times long before, riders are making mental notes on what to tweak, swap and
upgrade. Maybe you want more power to get you off the line faster, or perhaps
you’re fine with the core but want to spruce up your bike’s looks. One thing
never to cheat yourself on is dirt bike
riding gear that can protect you in a crash. Whether you race, ride trails
or both, your options are endless when it comes to modifying systems or parts
of your bike. Here are the top three mods for owners of the Suzuki DR350.

1.
Exhaust

Many riders look to the exhaust system to
find additional power, and they’re looking in the right place. A new exhaust
can provide that extra boost that puts you across the finishing line first.
Features that can benefit your ride include:

Lightweight aluminum body

Quick throttle response

Removable spark arrestor (for
closed tracks)

Steel Allen head screws for easy
repacking

Modular end cap with tunable
power

Of course, if you’re happy with your
overall exhaust system, you can always stick to fine-tuning various parts. A
mini-sound suppressor can quiet the pipe without dragging down the horsepower,
which is just one of several options you can try.

2.
Fenders

You can’t avoid mud, water and debris;
these things are part of any ride. When muck is churned up by your tires, it
can cover your face and impair your vision, a dangerous condition. It can also
wind up all over your bike, which is especially harmful to the moving parts.
Protect your machine and your face by replacing stock fenders with front and
rear mudguards that can hold up the challenges of track racing and trail
riding. When shopping for aftermarket parts for Suzuki DR350,
consider which features are most important. For example, long, narrow fenders
can help keep your back dry when throwing up rooster tails, while adjustable
mudguards can fit a wider variety of tires.

3.
Carburetor

Another part that affects engine
performance is your bike’s carburetor. If you have tried to adjust air or fuel
flow and are not getting the results you want, it may be time to try something
different. Consider a design that minimizes bore-throat turbulence by removing
obstacles and openings, thereby boosting airflow efficiency, which leads to
increased speed and power. Or, if you have modified your engine, consider a
two-stroke carburetor with several bore sizes that let you adjust the
fuel/airflow to match. You have several options in carburetors to fit your ride
and deliver the performance you’re seeking. Both aftermarket and genuine Suzuki parts are typically available from your online
supplier.

Tweaking
Is Part of the Thrill

If you ride hard, and most dirt bike riders
do, it probably seems like you’re always tweaking something. For most riders,
knowing their modifications can improve performance is part of the thrill. Go
ahead and tweak to your heart’s content, then come back next time out and do it
again. Remember, however, not to cut corners on dirt bike riding gear that can help keep you safe.
The post Top 3 Mods for Suzuki DR350 first appeared on The Siver Times.

With car
leasing gaining in popularity, many hopeful consumers are reading the fine
print before carefully considering the contract details. Like any financial
decision, leasing a car is no easy feat. Although the process is
straightforward, you must understand the ins and outs of the agreement to
ensure a hassle-free lease. Here is a breakdown of what you should and should
not do when you lease a car.

Car lease to-do list

Before you get
excited by the best lease deals available, consider the following tips:

Negotiating
the purchase price is a must. If you are getting a lease directly from the
manufacturer, the rates are probably the lowest. But it does not mean it is not
open for negotiation. Yes, a dealer cannot control the factors which affect the
car’s residual value, but they are almost always open to negotiating the
purchase price indicated in the lease agreement. It does not hurt to take your
chance because lowering the purchase price means lower monthly payments too.

Read the
fine print. Some ads on car leases are too good to be true. As a smart shopper,
you will check lease deals carefully
and read the fine print. Some details to look for are the mileage limit,
security deposit, and other additional charges.

Choose a
car with higher resale value. Your monthly lease payment is based on the
vehicle’s value depreciation. Therefore, a car that does not depreciate as much
is cheaper to lease. What this means for a consumer is that you can afford to
lease a luxury vehicle rather than settle for a mass-market car.

Lastly, never
skip GAP insurance. This insurance protects you in case you total the car in an
accident or in the event it gets stolen. Cars depreciate fastest during the
first three years of use, which is when you are leasing it. Having insurance
gives you the added peace of mind that if anything happens, you are covered for
the cost of the car’s value.

What not to do when leasing a car

Even the best car lease deals have a few
caveats. You need to understand that every lease deal may add penalties if you
decide to terminate early. If you are leasing a car, make sure that you are
committed to following through on the entire term.

Look for a
deal that does not include a security deposit. Since you are technically not
the owner, you will lose the deposit if anything happens to the vehicle. You
also need to comply with the terms of the lease, especially with the mileage
limit.

When leasing a
car, you also need to ensure that you keep the original appearance and prevent
damage to the interior and exterior as best you can. Do not attempt to
accessorize or make changes to the original paint job; otherwise, the leasing
company will charge you heavily based on the wear and tear.

If you think
you can keep to the strict terms of a car lease, there is no reason why you
should not consider it. There are many financial benefits to leasing, which is
why more consumers are choosing it over buying a car.
The post The Dos and Don’ts of Leasing a Car first appeared on The Siver Times.

New
vehicles are undoubtedly attractive, and many of us are drawn to the sleekness
and shininess of a new vehicle, especially one which has a lot of television
and magazine advertisements to its credit. But if you are seriously thinking of
buying a vehicle and you want to be practical about the whole thing, why go for
a new car when you can always buy a used one which still looks good and works
pretty well, too? Of course, with a new car, you can have all the bells and
whistles, but there are many used cars out there which have the same bells and
whistles, and which don’t cost as much, either. If you want to make the best
choice of vehicle, you should think carefully about investing in a used car
rather than a new one. So why buy a used car? Here, your top questions are
answered.

It saves you a lot of money

Believe
it or not, the normal price of a used car is about 50% less than a new one. If
this isn’t reason enough to buy a used vehicle, there are plenty of other good
reasons, besides. But if you go for a used vehicle, you can pay it off in a
much faster time than a new one, which saves you on financing charges and fees.
Most consumers choose to switch vehicles after about six years, so if you pay
only $10,000 for a pre-owned vehicle rather than $20,000 for a vehicle that’s
new, you could easily go for a better car in your next purchase or even
purchase a second vehicle at only $10,000 as well.

Depreciation is almost done

All
of us know how quickly cars depreciate; in fact, as soon as you drive the car
off the car lot, it has already depreciated a substantial amount. A new car
will depreciate by about 11% as soon as you drive it away, and it will continue
to depreciate in the weeks, months, and years ahead. But with a used vehicle,
you don’t have to worry about depreciation as it is almost done. This means
that you don’t have to pay too much more than what the car is worth. Some vehicles,
depending on the make and model, may even have better value as they get older.

No more crazy fees

Even
if you think you’re getting the best deal or package on a new vehicle, know
this: many new cars will come with hidden fees that can include destination
fees, shipping charges, and so on. There are even some new cars which come with
advertising charges as much as a thousand dollars. But with a used car, you
don’t have to deal with any hidden charges or fees, although you may need to
settle a doc charge or fee which can cost a few hundred bucks.

A car that’s thoroughly
checked

If
you go to an established car dealership such as Young Automotive, one of the
most trusted used
car dealerships in Utah, then you know that the
car you choose will have been thoroughly checked and certified. Before they put
a used vehicle up for sale, the dealership will make sure to inspect it,
refurbish it, and certify it through a special authority or the manufacturer
itself. This assures you that the vehicle is of the highest quality and
standards. A certified used vehicle may even come with a warranty, special
plans or options for financing, and so on.

Leasing a car is always an attractive option for
businesses. Not only does the company pay less each month, but you can also
switch to the latest car models as frequently as needed. This is great
considering how positively it will impact the company’s image. But leasing a
car does come with several considerations. How do you know it is the best
choice for your company? This article will discuss some of the most important
aspects of car leasing that every business needs to understand.

Closed lease vs. open lease

When you start negotiating car lease deals, the dealership will likely offer you two options: a closed lease or an
open lease. What is the difference between these two? An open lease typically
pertains to contracts dealing with vehicles leased for commercial use. In an
open lease, the lessee will pay the difference between the vehicle’s estimated
residual value and the actual resale value when the lease term ends. If the car
has been used heavily, the real resale value will be much lower than estimated,
which means the lessee will pay more. Compared with a closed lease, you will
only pay for damages or extra mileage, if any.

The importance of residual value

A term that will always come up as you check the best lease deals is residual value. It
merely refers to how much the car is worth when the lease ends. It is similar
to how business values an asset at the end of its lifecycle in hopes of selling
it for profit. What is essential to understand here is that the more the car
depreciates, the lower the residual value. As such, if the residual value is higher, the
monthly payments are lower. But for a company that intends to buy the vehicle
at the end of the lease, a higher residual value may be the most advantageous.

Lease fee and other payments

In looking for lease deals, you will likely come
across attractive offers such as zero
down lease deals. But before you get enticed by these offers, you need
first to understand the basic cost of leasing a vehicle. In addition to monthly
payments, dealers may also add an acquisition fee and other charges. It is
always worth a try to negotiate with the dealer if it is possible to do away
with some of the additional costs.

What about taxes?

Since leasing a car is a business expense, paying
taxes is another consideration. Some qualifications need to be met so that you
can maximize the deductions.

You need to prove that the
leased vehicle was driven at least 50% of the time for business purposes.
Only this portion of the cost is tax-deductible.

Once you have identified the
qualifying amount, you need to calculate using the actual cost method.

Lastly, a high-end or luxury
vehicle may be subject to an “inclusion amount”.

When it comes to sales taxes, there is no exception.
If you want to pay less in sales taxes, you need to keep the cost of leasing
low.
The post What Every Business Needs to Know About Leasing a Vehicle first appeared on The Siver Times.

As of 2018, Los Angeles has the world’s
worst traffic congestion for six years running. In fact, drivers in the city
spent more than 100 hours of their lives battling traffic in 2017. All that
traffic means you may be more tempted to bend the rules of the road, but if you
want to avoid needing a red light ticket
attorney, the better idea is to learn the best times to drive in Los
Angeles.

Drive
When It’s Not Rush Hour

The best time to drive in Los Angeles is
definitely not during rush hour. This is when traffic is the heaviest. In the
morning, you should avoid the roads between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. As the
evening rolls in and people begin to go home from work, traffic gets heavy again
from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. or even later. If you absolutely must drive
during these times, avoid the main freeways and stick to the surface streets.

Go
Places on the Weekdays

When it comes to getting to the many
attractions in the Los Angeles area, consider visiting them during the early
afternoon hours on weekdays. Not only will the attractions themselves be less
crowded than they would on the weekends, but it will be easier to drive to them
as well. Attractions have lots of traffic around them on the weekends since
this is when most people are off work or taking mini vacations into the city.

Drive
in the Middle of the Night

Are you just heading through town? Do you
want to go for a leisurely drive with the windows down and the music up? The
best time to do this might just be in the middle of the night. Whether downtown
or on the freeways, traffic in Los Angeles is much lest congested between the
hours of about 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

No matter when you decide to drive in Los
Angeles, be sure to follow all traffic laws. Speeding, parking in a no-parking
zone, or running red lights could leave you in need of a ticket lawyer Los
Angeles. If you do need one, search for someone reputable and who
specializes in traffic law.
The post The Best Time to Drive in Los Angeles first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Friday, 30 march 2018 12:55

Look at this article

The world firsts in the auto show in New York, it is all well and good, but what we want to see, this is what makes us dream.

Bentley Continental Supersports

Frédéric Mercier

Only convertible of this list, the Bentley Continental Supersports is an authentic sports car. His immense W12 enables it to reach 100 km/h in as little as 3.9 seconds. The foot at the bottom, she propels its driver up to 330 km/h.

Karma Revero

Frédéric Mercier

It is not common that a sedan be considered exotic. Even less when it comes to a plug-in hybrid. Yet, it is the case of the Karma Revero. In all-electric mode, it can travel up to 80 kilometers. In short, the battery life is slightly less than that of the… Chevrolet Volt. However, the Karma Revero develops 981 pound-feet of torque, which is sensational.

Chevrolet Corvette

Frédéric Mercier

A Corvette among the exotic, it is possible. The new ZR1 is a place to cut that are worth many times more expensive. Its V8 6.2 L develops all the same 755-horsepower, which makes the Corvette the most powerful built to date.

Ford GT

Germain Goyer

With a production of only 250 copies per year, the exclusivity of the Ford GT is ensured. Despite the fact that it is powered by a V6 Ecoboost 3.5 L, it will leave you breathless, reaching 96 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

Nissan Formula E

Germain Goyer

This winter, Nissan has announced that it would participate in the season 2018 in the championship of Formula electrical. Given the scandal surrounding the passage of the motor racing series to Montreal last summer, we won’t have the chance to see this new single-seater and race it in the streets of the city centre. We will have to settle… Cup Nissan Micra.

BMW M1

Germain Goyer

Perched on the bridge of the booth of BMW, the M1 Procar was doomed to the track. In 1979 and 1980, she was part of a series that followed the circus of the Formula 1 and was used as a race support at the end of week Grand Prize.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach

Germain Goyer

Unveiled during the auto show in Geneva, Porsche 911 GT3 RS has also been presented at the New York show. To optimize performance, the lightness is often the key, and that Porsche is aware of this. The Stuttgart manufacturer offers a edition Weissach reduced weight of 18 kg compared to the GT3 RS conventional.

Koenigsegg

Germain Goyer

For this edition of the auto show in New York, Koenigsegg was also present with two vehicles as spectacular as the other one : Agera RS and Regera. Recall that the Agera RS has more or less crashed a speed record which was previously set by Bugatti and his Chiron.

Rimac C_Two

Germain Goyer

Unveiled a few weeks ago in Geneva, the C_Two is the second model of the manufacturer-Croatian. Its four electric motors to develop an exceptional power : 1914-horsepower and 1696 lb-ft.

Lamborghini Urus

Germain Goyer

A sport utility vehicle can be exotic. This is the feat that has been successful Lamborghini with its Urus. Under its hood, we find a V8 4.0 L twin-turbo original Porsche. It crosses the barrier of 100 km/h in as little as 3.6 seconds.

Bugatti Chiron

Germain Goyer

Bugatti is synonymous with the exotic and this is not new. On the occasion of this exhibition in new york, the manufacturer of French origin, has presented a scaled-down version of his Chiron, the Sport. Lighter than 18 kg that the Chiron regular, she can even boast of being equipped with a wiper made of carbon fiber.

Pagani Huayra BC

Germain Goyer

At the booth of the manufacturer of brakes, Brembo, there was the beautiful decor : a Pagani Huayra BC. Italian, this constructor makes a call to Mercedes-Benz for its engines, as is the case with this supercar powered by a V12. Of course, it is equipped with discs Brembo at all four corners.

Lamborghini Miura

UPDATE
Friday, 30 march 2018 01:00

Look at this article

A request for collective action was filed in Montreal against BMW, which is slow to replace a part that could cause a fire in the vehicle.

“It is really very disturbing. I have two children of 8 and 22 months, I don’t want my vehicle to catch fire while they are sitting in the back, ” laments Liliana Pasaje, representative of the appeal which has been filed recently in the superior Court.

The owner of a BMW X3 2007 received a letter in December 2017, informing him that his car was subject to a recall. It indicates that a short circuit may occur in the operative part of stove fan motor housing (PVC).

“The plastic parts that surround it could overheat, melt and cause a fire, which could increase the risk of personal injury or property damage (or both) “, one reads in the letter, which The Newspaper has obtained a copy, as well as on the website of Transport Canada.

The German automaker insists even in the missive that the cars referred to ” should be parked outside until the room is available “.

No parts

But four months later, it is still impossible to repair the vehicle, the famous part is still not available, ” says Ms. Pasaje, who has left his car at the dealer as a precaution.

“We made a recall, but no parts. BMW is negligent in his management of the recall, ” insists Joey Zukran, lawyer in charge of the action.

At the dealer, he would have said that there was no danger of riding with his vehicle, in addition to refuse to provide a courtesy car, depending on what she says.

Yet, the american channel ABC has reported many cases of BMW vehicles covered by the recall, which would have spontaneously caught fire in the entrance of houses or in the parking lot of shopping malls in different cities in the United States.

79 616 vehicles

According to Transport Canada, 79 616 vehicles BMW 1-Series (2008 to 2011) 3 Series (2007 to 2011), 5 Series (2007 to 2011), X3 (2007 to 2011), X5 (2007 to 2010), Z4 (2007 to 2011) are affected by the recall in the country.

It was not possible to know how many cars are referred to in Quebec.

The action brought by the firm’s CPA lawyers also includes vehicles BMW 3 Series (2006 to 2011) which are the subject of another recall, as the wiring harness to the regulator of the fan could overheat and melt and cause a fire.

►BMW Canada has not responded to our interview request.
The post Cars of BMW brand could ignite first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Thursday, 29 march, 2018 18:48

Look at this article

There isn’t tons, of Ford Skyliner. In fact, her name tells you probably nothing.

Built for just three years, from 1957 to 1959, this convertible vehicle to open the electric roof has been built at least 50 000 units. No need to tell you that this is a model prized by collectors.

This is the case of Robert Camerlain, a amateur quebec vintage car which has had a huge blow of heart for this car american epic proportions. “I was looking for a model 1957, and I wanted it to be blue,” he says. Already there, the criteria limited the research.

Except that with a little patience, anything is possible…

Ford Skyliner 1957

Old cars of Granby

A car as it does more

American cars full-size two doors, you will not find in dealerships today. Even less in a convertible.

In 50 years, however, the automotive world was very different. Well-founded or not, this beautiful madness has pushed Ford to design the Skyliner, officially christened the Fairlane 500 Skyliner in 1957 and 1958, and then Galaxie Skyliner 1959.

Second production vehicle in History to offer a solid roof and retractable at the push of a single button, the Skyliner extending over more than 5 metres.

Its design has made a lot of good publicity at the time, but sales have not followed. The price of the vehicle was high, and its trunk could not have almost anything to accommodate once the roof retracted.

After just three years, Ford is throwing in the towel. Fortunately, some maniacs have taken good care of to keep some copies, to the delight of collectors, such as Robert Camerlain.

Ford Skyliner 1957

Old cars of Granby

The rare pearl

It is in the magazine, Hemmings, specializing in classic cars, that M. Camerlain eventually find the model that met its expectations. It was in 2011. Only problem, the vehicle was to Chicago, well away from the house.

“I called the seller anyway, but he told me that there was already someone interested,” he recalls. Except that a few weeks later, the collector from quebec is back on a new ad of the same vehicle. The first buyer had finally decided to turn to something else, leaving the way clear for the acquisition of the Skyliner blue coveted.

Except that before you buy a car like that, let’s say that a small inspection is essential. Armed with a Hummer and a trailer, Robert Camerlain took the road to Chicago to see the Skyliner in his own eyes.

“I told the salesman that if the car was in the condition he described, it was a deal.” Arriving on the spot, the stroke of the heart is proven based; the Skyliner was immaculate.

Under its bonnet, an eight-cylinder engine of 312 cubic inches takes place and develops an output of 245 horsepower. At least, it is that announced by the manufacturer at the time! This mechanism was also offered with the iconic Ford Thunderbird. In 1957, he was the most powerful engine in the catalogue of the Skyliner.

Ford Skyliner 1957

Old cars of Granby

After you have signed the agreement with the seller, Robert Camerlain has abandoned the idea of towing the car to Quebec, and was instead brought in by truck. Seven years later, it remains in his garage, surrounded by other cars of the collection of M. Camerlain, a Thunderbird of the same year.

And the least we can say is that the Skyliner was not a car problem since his immigration to canada. Not really. “Since 2011, I think that I have not even put 500$ on this car-there”, exclaims the owner.

Must say that it does not come out too often either, his big american car. But when the sun’s out, nothing beats a ride aboard a classic like that. The roof down, of course.
The post Ford Skyliner 1957: the opulence of american in Quebec first appeared on The Siver Times.

Look at this article

NEW YORK city | The electric car-maker Tesla, in turmoil because of doubts about his future, and a fatal accident involving one of its autonomous vehicles, on Thursday announced the recall of about 123 000 vehicles in its range Model S.

In an email sent to its customers-holders of one of these vehicles, the american group has indicated that it will recall voluntarily 123 000 vehicles of the range Model S manufactured before April 2016.

Tesla explained to his clients that a phenomenon of excessive corrosion had been observed on the bolts of power steering in these models, but only in regions with very cold climates.

The group has, however, clarified that it had decided to recall all affected vehicles across the globe in a preventive manner, to perform repairs.

No accident was reported and no one was injured as a result of this phenomenon of corrosion, has added Tesla in this message, stating that the intervention on each of the vehicles is expected to last about an hour.

This new event is in addition to the questions already large around the group that was founded in 2003 and led by the charismatic entrepreneur of south african-born Elon Musk.

The NTSB, the regulator of transportation, u.s., on Tuesday launched an investigation following a fatal accident involving a Tesla in the city of Mountain View in California.

The survey was particularly interested in the system of Autopilot, the software that allows a number of manoeuvres without driver intervention.

In 2016, an american motorist had already died while he was driving a sedan Model S Tesla equipped with Autopilot.

Tesla is also experiencing production problems for the Model 3, its new vehicle entry supposed to open the way to mass production.

The rating agency Moody’s has decided this week to lower the financial strength rating of the group to “Caa1″ from ” B3 “in the past, while combining it with a “negative” outlook, suggesting that the credit rating agency envisages to further worsen in the medium term.

On Wall Street, the action Tesla has lost more than 20% in a month.
The post Tesla will recall 123 000 vehicles of the range Model S first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Thursday, 29 march 2018 13:15

Look at this article

Each spring, New York hosts one of the most important auto shows of the planet. With several world firsts, this edition 2018 has not disappointed. Here are the 10 big launches that have occurred.

Nissan Altima

Frédéric Mercier

With a new design and architecture train full, the Nissan Altima 2019 has all the assets to get a place of choice in the midsize sedan segment. The Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord have competition!

Hyundai Kona electric

Frédéric Mercier

Available before the end of the year in Canada, the electric model of the Hyundai Kona will offer an impressive range of 400 kilometres. This is even more than this that displays the Chevrolet Bolt, with its 383 kilometres of autonomy. Remains to know the price of this new electric vehicle.

Toyota RAV4

Germain Goyer

The Toyota RAV4 takes a look a lot more aggressive for this new generation. Muscular, the RAV4 2019 will be offered with a gasoline engine of 2.5 liters. A hybrid version also remains on the menu. The alternative to gasoline will arrive at dealers towards the end of the year and the hybrid is expected in early 2019.

Toyota Corolla Hatchback

Frédéric Mercier

Still at Toyota, the new hatchback the Corolla is likely to be very popular in Quebec. Longer, wider and lower than the Corolla iM, this new car 5-door adopts a storefront much more aggressive as well as a rear-end more rounded than the model it replaces.

Subaru Forester

Germain Goyer

Subaru we promised to deliver a whole new generation of the Forester, but let’s say that the japanese manufacturer has remained very shy of the aesthetic side. The turbo engine is now a thing of the past, just like the manual transmission.

Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Pickup Concept

Frédéric Mercier

Even Volkswagen could not resist the idea of revealing a pick-up truck. The concept Atlas Tanoak Pickup is built from the same platform which is used in the development of several products from Volkswagen like the Tiguan, the Atlas and the new Jetta 2019. A production model will be there on the day?

Cadillac XT4

Frédéric Mercier

The Cadillac XT5 has a new little brother. Animated by a four-cylinder engine, turbocharged, the new XT4 demonstrates the ambition of Cadillac to offer a wider range of SUVS.

Lincoln Aviator

Frédéric Mercier

If the name Aviator tells you something, it is quite normal. Marketed by Lincoln for three years in the early 2000s, the model is back to 2019. It will be available with a version plug-in hybrid, a first for Lincoln.

Acura RDX

Acura

The Acura RDX is back in a new light. He is now taking a pace similar to that of the MDX and will now be offered a version A-Spec, more performance-oriented. Sn engine qautre-cylinder turbocharged allows a power of 3272 horses and a torque of 280 pounds-foot.

Genesis Essentia Concept

Frédéric Mercier

The great surprise of the auto Show in New York, it is a superb concept unveiled by Genesis, the luxury brand of Korean manufacturer Hyundai. All-electric and made of a monocoque chassis in carbon-fibre, the Essentia Concept can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds. A way to make a name for themselves!
The post 10 new models presented at the auto Show in New York first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Thursday, 29 march 2018 11:51

Look at this article

The driver of a Tesla Model X died on 23 march, after his vehicle had caught on fire.

While traveling on highway 101 in California, this électromobiliste was hit head-on a wall of security. Following the impact, the Tesla Model X has rapidly become the prey of the flames.

A team of engineers from Tesla visited the site to give a blow to the firefighters as they worked to manipulate the batteries.

As you can see by looking at the photos, the front part of the Tesla Model X has been completely destroyed. It is not known if this was caused by the force of the impact, the flames, or by the work of the fire department.

Of course, due to the presence of batteries, an electric vehicle does not react in the same way that a petrol vehicle in the event of impact. As in other similar incidents have occurred in the past, the safety of this type of vehicle is in question.

The driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.

Although the findings of the investigation have not been disclosed, suggests that it would be a failure of the driving system autonomous Autopilot. The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of experts to investigate this fatal accident.

Tesla is also losing

Because of a multitude of factors, including the fatal accident in which is involved a Model X, you can read on Bloomberg that the action of Tesla fell by 8%. The 278$ that was worth the action on march 27, represented the trough of the deepest known by the manufacturer of electric vehicles over the last year.

The post He died after that its Tesla Model X will have taken fire first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Wednesday, 28 march 2018 15:24

Look at this article

There will be a new electric car sold in Quebec by the end of the year. And with a battery life estimated at 400 kilometers, you may hear about often.

After months of rumors, Hyundai has finally confirmed that the Kona electric will be fine and well marketed in North America.

Read also: All the cars éectriques currently for sale in Quebec

Read also: Our comprehensive road test of the Hyundai Kona 2018

If it reaches, in fact, the autonomy of 400 miles announced by the manufacturer, the Kona electrified exceed the 383 miles of the Chevrolet Bolt, currently recognized as the electric car “affordable”. Only the models of Tesla, much more expensive, has more to offer in Canada.

Hyundai has not yet confirmed the price for the Kona electric in Canada, but one might logically expect something that is competitive with the Chevrolet Bolt, sold from 45 145$. As with the Bolt, the government of quebec will provide financial assistance of$ 8,000 to the buyers of this car.

Hyundai Kona electric 2019

A funny muzzle

Very similar to the new Hyundai Kona gasoline that has just arrived at dealers, the Kona electric stand out by replacing its grille with a huge bumper.

Hyundai Kona electric 2019

The wheels, designed for better aerodynamics, also differ from those of the Kona regular. For the rest, Hyundai has not too broken head.

Inside, we got rid of the up transmission traditional to replace it by a button, installed on an imposing center console. Above, a screen floating touch incorporates an infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hyundai Kona electric 2019

Autonomy, but also of the power

With its lithium-ion battery 64 kWh, the Kona electric will surely make his or her autonomy of 400 kilometers on his horse of battle.

Except that with 201-horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, it may be also rather fun to drive. This makes it the most efficient version of the Kona. Even with its turbocharged 1.6-liter available as an option, the Kona gasoline is no better than 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet.

Hyundai Kona electric 2019

On a charging station level 2, the Hyundai Kona can be to find a complete autonomy after 9 hours and 50 minutes of charging. With a terminal fast of level 3, it can reach 80% of its charge in 55 minutes.

The Kona electric will arrive at dealers in Quebec towards the end of the year 2018 and will be sold as a 2019 model.

The post An electric car to 400 miles of range at Hyundai as of this year first appeared on The Siver Times.

UPDATE
Thursday, march 29, 2018 07:30

Look at this article

At the motor Show in New York, Subaru has lifted the veil on the fifth-generation of its sports utility vehicle (SUV) compact : the Forester.

If you put it next to the current one, we have, in any way, the impression of being in the middle of the game of the seven differences. But the problem is that the game is almost downright impossible.

Even after looking at all the angles, force is to admit that it is very similar to the Forester currently found on the market, and this, despite the fact that it is built on a new platform.

Subaru Forester 2019

Germain Goyer

Of course, the all-wheel drive system that has forged the solid reputation of the japanese manufacturer will continue to be offered in series.

As to the technology found on the new Forester, Subaru mentions that it will be the first vehicle in this segment to be equipped with the system DriverFocus. Thanks to facial recognition, this system allows to issue warnings in order to reduce distractions for the driver.

In terms of mechanics, one always finds the four flat cylinders 2.5 L. Refined it développera182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet, compared to 170-horsepower and 174 pound-feet for the current model. Only the continuously variable transmission (CVT) will be offered.

Subaru Forester 2019

Germain Goyer

The recreation is completed

The four-cylinder flat turbocharged 2.0 L will not continue his route with the fifth generation of the model. It is the same for the manual transmission, which will also be abandoned. For a part of the customer base of Subaru, the driving pleasure is essential. To satisfy these customers, it will have to do better than offer a Sport version with applique orange, as this will be the case from 2019.

With the concept of Essentia, the luxury brand of Korean young intends to prove to the world what she is capable of.

Genesis Essentia Concept

Genesis

Fully electric, the Essentia is powered by several engines (it does not specify how much) allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds. No word, however, on the power of the vehicle or even on what wheels are powered by its engines.

In fact, the technical features of the Essentia remains rather nebulous. We are told that it is fast, but also very light thanks to its monocoque chassis in carbon fibre.

Genesis Essentia Concept

Frédéric Mercier

But where Genesis really puts the emphasis, it is in the area of the design. After all, the luxury division of the manufacturer Hyundai has a lot of crust to eat to achieve the reputation of the prestigious German brands. And to make a name for themselves, precisely, nothing is better than a concept that seems to come in the future.

Thanks to its flowing lines, its doors to the Lamborghini and its gigantic wheels, the concept Essentia doesn’t have too much trouble attracting the attention. Inside, the show continues with a huge screen that browses the dashboard on its entire width. The beauty in simplicity.

Genesis

With a concept also spectacular, Genesis has literally stolen the spotlight at the auto Show in New York. It is always nice to win.
The post A concept breathtaking unveiled by Genesis first appeared on The Siver Times.

This prize is awarded each year by a committee of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America.

UPDATE
Wednesday, march 28, 2018 12:09

Look at this article

It is at the motor Show in New York that Volkswagen has chosen to unveil his pickup truck, which was as expected.

The rumors were many, but it is now official. The German manufacturer made the first step in the world of small trucks by presenting a conceptual approach to its pickup.

Contrary to what one might think, it is not a north-americanized of the Amarok, which is sold elsewhere on the planet for a few years already.

Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Concept

Volkswagen

Based on the versatile MQB platform, the Atlas Tanoak is powered by a V6 FSI 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet. The power is transmitted to all four wheels through an automatic transmission with eight reports. It can reach 96 km/h in 8.5 seconds.

Although it is similar to the Atlas, which runs through already our roads, this declension may count on a longer wheelbase 28 cm. As to the whole of the body, it was raised to 5 cm, which can offer a ground clearance of 25 cm. The version of conceptual design is mounted on 20-inch rims, which are shod with tires 275/55.

Volkswagen

As you can see on photos, LED lights occupy a large part of the grille and the tailgate.

Inside, a maximum of five occupants can take place.

As to the cargo box, it has the particularity to offer a modular, which facilitates the transport of long items like a canoe or a ladder.

Volkswagen

At the time of writing these few lines, Volkswagen mentions that the production of the Atlas Tanoak does not figure in the plans of the company. This concept vehicle is essentially a way of measuring the temperature of the water. The price as well as the dimensions of consumption are thus obviously not known.

If it was to be marketed, it concurrencerait directly to the Honda Ridgeline. To this effect, Hyundai also intends to penetrate this market with its Santa Cruz.
