Running Android Wear 2.0, the Huawei Watch 2 is compatible with iOS, which places it as a potential rival of the Apple Watch Nike +. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of these watches connected? Answers in these next lines!
More sporting than its elder, the Huawei Watch 2 has something to compete with the Apple Watch Series 2 or the Nike + version of the watch. Although both manufacturers have different approaches in the wrist world connected, I decided to oppose their watches. Given that the Huawei Watch 2 offers great features in sports tracking, can it shade the latest Apple Watch that is considered by many to be the best watch connected to the market ? Design
The thickness of the Huawei Watch is one of its main weaknesses
At my wrist, the Apple Watch Nike + throws. But if you hoped for a round watch, it is dead, the Apple loves things square. Its 1.5-inch OLED display offers good brightness and is more powerful than the first generation of the Apple Watch (340 x 272 pixels). On the side of the watch of Huawei, one is entitled to a screen AMOLED of 1.2 inches displaying 390 x 390 pixels. Its round design is pretty cool but, I regret that the watch is quite thick. Heavier than the Apple Watch, the Huawei Watch 2 visually gives the impression that the ring and dial are not fixed. But in reality, this is not the case. The crown does not move, which is really a shame for a watch under Android Wear.
The Huawei Watch 2 is much larger than the Apple Watch Series 2
Unlike the Apple Watch Series 2 and Nike +, which are available in two sizes (38 and 42 mm), the connected watch of the third smartphone manufacturer in the world is only available in 45 mm. Although this is not a problem for most guys, those who have the (bad) chance of having very fine wrists will find that Huawei’s proposal is too big for them . But it is probably the use of the watch that interests you the most. And at that level, there is a lot to say.
Navigation
Thanks to the digital crown (rotary knob) of the Apple Watch, one can easily navigate between the different apps. On the Huawei Watch, there is no digital crown but only two buttons: one allows to activate Google Assistant and the other facilitates the access to the apps recently used. Characteristics
Equipped with a dual-core S2 processor, the Apple Watch Nike + is more powerful than the first Apple Watch. With GPS, waterproofing is the big novelty of this connected watch that allows you to geolocate even when you are away from your smartphone. On the Huawei side, we bet on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chip. The main asset of this processor is to enable 4G connectivity, which gives freedom to the Huawei Watch 2. And above all, it can be used independently of A smartphone . Thanks to its GPS, its 4G antenna and its nano SIM port, the Huawei Watch 2 is a kind of smartphone compressed in the format of a watch . Autonomy
While Apple believes that its latest Apple Watch can ensure a day of use, I could easily hold two days with the connected watch when I was not touching the Activity and Exercise apps (which really make me move). On the Huawei side, there is an expectation of an average of 2 days. But these figures do not really mean much, when we know that the lifetime of the battery depends primarily on our way of using it.
Verdict
Everything seems better thought about the second generation of the Apple Watch that gains in efficiency thanks to watchOS 3. But to intimacy perfection, Apple must review the autonomy of its watch connected and improve the role of its digital crown . Finally, I personally hope that the next Apple Watch will opt for a round design but hey, it’s like wanting to stop the waves with his hands: unnecessary. As for the Huawei Watch 2, she is still as beautiful as her eldest son, but she progresses enormously in the sport . However, it is not yet the queen of the smartwatch because of its screen too small (strongly the arrival of the borderless screens in watches connected) and the absence of rotating crown.

You dreamed of it but being in the skin of James Bond, it’s stronger than you? I spent a week without my Apple Watch Series 2, Apple’s connected watch, and here are my impressions.
By forgetting the charger of my Apple Watch in Morocco in the margins of the festival Mawazine 2017, I simply tried not to use my watch connected. This looks simple but, the Apple Watch Series 2 is on my wrist since its release. And ten months of living together with the Apple Watch, it’s not nothing! Even if obviously, the indispensable side of a connected watch has never been proven, I finally found many benefits. And then, I’m still part of generation 89 that does not find any difference between an Apple Watch and hot water.
The first day without my Apple Watch was a Sunday, an endless day. If I got into the habit of running every day on the watch to check my emails, answering SMS and calls, everything changed without this condensed technology. I now felt like I was away from action and info alerts. My iPhone 7 never seemed so overwhelmed by the events . Yes, I can do everything with the smartphone headed but have a Watch in addition, it has nothing to have. Imagine being able to phone on one side and play on the other? If the most skeptical will say that it has not succeeded in replacing the iPhone, I will try to explain in the next few lines why life without Apple Watch is not as simple as what the ”
Live without Apple Watch is snober the know-how . At the restaurant for example, I no longer go out my iPhone at the table. Thanks to the head-watch, discretion was part of my personality. Today I feel like I’m going back in a world where the ultra-connected had not yet its place. Living without Apple Watch is certainly less hard than going without its smartphone but, the chic side of the watch is priceless. By becoming waterproof, the Apple Watch Series 2 showed its muscles. I could share my performance at the pool (I take you when you want to breaststroke ) with my friends who also have a watch. And icing on the cake, doing sports has never been so hilarious for a geek . But the Apple Watch miss me most, when I’m driving a car.
The Apple Watch Series 2 replaces the famous hands-free kit. Basically, one can make calls from the watch and speak James Bond way in his car. And I have to admit that with the Watch, I never had a ticket for talking at the wheel. It is difficult to talk about the connected watch without telling his life, so much the relationship with this gadget is personal. And although I easily zapped the classic watches with the arrival of the iPhone in 2007, I still can not get used to a life without Apple Watch . Without being perfect or indispensable, it has revolutionized my everyday life ….

Apple and Nike continue to make us dream with their fruitful collaboration. Both brands have just unveiled a limited edition of their Apple Watch Nike +. Called Champions, this new version of the connected watch will not be available in Apple’s retail stores or Nike stores . You will be able to shopper this new watch head on the eshop of NikeLab and in a “pop-up” which will see the day in Tokyo in the mall Isetan.
