Before, there was David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. But that was before. The era of the cult series Alert to Malibu is over, place to the film Baywatch . A much more fun, much more trash and much more crazy version of the 90s series, with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron to take the torch of rescuers in a red swimsuit. Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach are added to them, as well as Jon Bass and Ilfenesh Hadera. The latter embody Ronnie , a completely new in-love CJ girlfriend, the slow-running blonde (Kelly Rohrbach), and Stephanie Holden , a confirmed rescuer who forms a shock duo with The Rock. Alert to Malibu is a series that everyone knows. But what made you want to be part of this adaptation exactly?
Jon Bass: For me, it was Pamela Anderson. I love it. It was sincerely my first crush. I was completely crazy about meeting her, shooting a scene with her. I even took a picture with her which I cut Ilfenesh Hadera. And then Alert in Malibu, it is also the beach, the fun and of course the idle.
Ilfenesh Hadera: I grew up in New York, so Alert in Malibu is for me a world totally apart, with beautiful kids and beautiful kids, in a swimsuit on the beach. And then nothing but the place, Malibu, is amazing. Where is this place and how are we going?
Compared to the original series, what does this new adaptation bring back, according to you?
Ilfenesh: In the film, everything is more crazy. Humor is more crazy. The action is more crazy. Sex is warmer.
Jon Bass: Yes, there are a lot more chase races than in the series, and more nudity!
Ilfenesh: Basically, all you can not do in a TV series, we did it in the movie.
How would you describe your characters, in three words?
Jon Bass: Fun, funny and sexy! (laughter)
Ilfenesh: I would say that she is a strong, committed and affectionate girl.
How did you put yourself in the shoes of your characters?
Jon Bass: My character was not part of the original series so I could do what I wanted. And I was mainly inspired by my own life.
Ilfenesh: For me it was easier, since my character had been interpreted by Alexandra Paul in the original series. So I got a little inspired but yes, I was also inspired by my own life.
What is your worst beach memory?
Ilfenesh: I do not have a bad one. When I was little, I spent my holidays with my grandmother in Rhode Island. And sometimes the Atlantic can be violent. And so I found myself embarked by a wave, I felt like being in a washing machine, I did not know where the surface was and where was the bottom. It was horrible.
Jon Bass: For me it was in the Dead Sea. It’s nothing but salt, so if you go in with scratches, it really burns a lot. And I had scratches on my buttocks. I really suffered!

And for good reason, the film is adapted from the cult series of the 90’s, Alert to Malibu . But this time, not David Hasselhoff or Pamela Anderson. The new rescuers in the red swimsuit are none other than Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario or Kelly Rohrbach . But while we might think that watching a beach is an easy job, things will get a bit complicated for the team when a woman named Victoria Leeds is going to disturb the tranquility of the beach with drugs and murders . The latter is embodied by Priyanka Chopra , aka Alex Parrish in the series Quantico . A role that was originally intended for a man but the director quickly changed his mind and preferred the Indian actress. A double pride for Priyanka, who begins his career in cinema with this role. Alert to Malibu is a series that everyone knows. But what made you want to be part of this adaptation exactly?
I always loved Alert in Malibu . When I started looking, I was 7 years old, my mother loved the series and so I was watching with her. And then I like the fact that I play the villain in the movie. For my first American film, I was rather excited to play something different.
How would you describe your character, Victoria Leeds?
Victoria was supposed to be a man. Basically, the character had been written for a man. But our director, Seth Gordon, thought it would be more interesting to have a wife, that it would make a better opponent for The Rock. And I’m so glad it’s me. Victoria is a woman in a man’s world. It wants power, it wants to control everything and it destroys all those who are in its path. So the rescuers are really annoying for her and she is not afraid to make them understand.
Were you inspired by other big bad guys in the cinema?
If I have to be honest, yes! I took a little inspiration from the bad guys from James Bond. They are quite normal, they do not have horrible horns that come out of their heads. They do not say they are bad guys.
Compared to the original series, what does this new adaptation bring back, according to you?
For me, the film has recovered all the elements that made the success of Alert to Malibu and made them somehow transformed to make it more crazy. The series was a good series, but that’s a completely crazy movie.
Which scene did you prefer to shoot?
When Zac Efron looks at me and yells: “you’re crazy!” , And I look at him and say, “If I were a man, you would describe me as passionate . ” This is one of my favorite replies because somewhere is true. She’s a girl, so she’s called mad.
What is your worst beach memory?
I do not have much because I love the ocean, it’s my favorite place. As soon as I need to feel better, I sit in front of the ocean and all is well. But if I reflect, I would say that the paparazzi are really unbearable. It’s very intrusive. Once again, I walked on a rock and I cut off my foot!
And your best memory of beach?
Simply sit on the beach with my friends and listen to the sea. It’s so relaxing.

More than twenty years after the Malibu Alert cult series began , rescuers in red swimsuits are back on California beaches in Baywatch, which we give you 3 good reasons to go see it . Except this time, it’s not David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson who are watching the beach, but Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, Zac Efron , Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach. The latter includes the role that made famous Pamela Anderson: CJ Parker . And like her, she runs in slow motion. But she describes herself as a “warm, accessible and tenacious person” . As for Zac Efron, he plays Matt Brody, A former Olympic swimming champion slightly imbued with himself and Alexandra Daddario, plays the role of Summer Quinn, a girl who is determined to prove itself. For the release of Baywatch , we went to Miami to meet them and here is our interview!
Alert to Malibu is now a TV series that everyone knows. What was it for you?
Kelly Rohrbach: I think it was life in California. A simple life and easy to live, healthy activities, the beach … And that’s why I moved in there! It’s so great!
Alexandra Daddario: Yes it’s glitter and glamor. And I especially remember the actors of the series, who became very famous. Everyone knew who Pamela Anderson was coming from, and then everyone was talking about David Hasselhoff. They had glamorous and exciting lives. Everyone knows them and so it’s cool to be part of this world there.
Zac Efron: And in addition to all that, you quickly attach to the characters of the series and their history. The characters of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff, for example, were brilliant. And still today, they are attached to this role and that is why people love them so much. So it is rather yes to be part of this world there.
Kelly: I think what’s interesting about our adaptation is that all the elements of the original series are there, but it’s also a more modern, more punchy and more crazy version!
And what exactly made you want to be part of this adaptation?
Kelly: It was funny. It was so funny. When I got the script, I thought I had to do it. I obviously saw the original series, I’m a big fan. But this is a new version much more trash and much more fun.
Zac: As Kelly said, the platform already exists. It is magical, it is a world both dangerous and sexy. The creators of the series suggested adapting it to the screen and it seemed like what the world needed.
Alexandra: Yes, I think right now, we need to go to the cinema to laugh for two hours. And that’s exactly what Baywatch is proposing.
Zac: It’s just very funny. And completely crazy.
Kelly: Yeah, it’s like having summer in a bottle. There’s sand, nice kids and nice kids, tanned bodies, abs. There’s The Rock!
Zac: And it’s full of action. It’s really very fun!
In three words, how would you describe your characters?
Kelly: Warm, accessible and strong.
Zac: Doped, sick and radical!
Alexandra: Smart, strong and funny.
Kelly: And sexy!

You are waiting for the release of the movie Baywatch with Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson? Good news ! His date was unveiled.
If you missed an episode, short summary. Baywatch is the original name of Baywatch, successful series of the 90s including Jason Momoa, the Aquaman of the Justice League (of which a major character was confirmed in the cast) .
