Or at least, that is what one tends to think, one not going a priori without the other. Except that it is underestimating a little the ambitions of the studios, who see Spidey’s opponent a character powerful enough to carry his film alone. For while the hesitation was still of course not so long ago, Sony swept away in a sudden any possibility to see the Eddie Brock of Tom Hardy trim the tip of fat with the Peter Parker of Tom Holland. No, the Spider-Man spin-off on Venom will not be part of the MCU and the film, which will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, will remain completely independent. So no Spidey in red and blue, no Avengers nor even less attack of Chitauri or angry robots in the world of Venom. Good, very good. Except that it poses nevertheless a small problem, if one takes into account the very history of Eddie Brock. So, a movie on Venom that would be outside the MCU, can it really work?
Because it is necessary to admit one thing, the transformation of Eddie Brock in Venom is intimately related to Spider-Man, and in particular to his costume bearing the famous symbiote. In other words, the original story can not do without Spidey, which is well integrated into the MCU! And that, we did not need Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 to realize it. So does that mean that Spidey will exist in the universe of the movie Venom but that it will simply be mentioned? Even if the Avengers were present at his side? Unless the studios plan to offer it a whole new origin, which will not depend on the Weaver . After all, The villain of Venom will not be Spider-Man but Carnage , or another symbiote that depends on the very existence of Eddie Brock and his black costume. But in this case, it is the fans of the enemies of Peter Parker who risk raising a skeptical eyebrow (even worse). In short, a movie on Venom that fits totally out of the MCU seems at first glance to be a pretty bad idea, especially if the studios do not have a coherent overview. As Venom will not be the only character in Spider-Man’s universe to be entitled to his own feature film since Silver Sable and Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, will also benefit from the same treatment in the years to come. It is the fans of the enemies of Peter Parker who risk raising a skeptical eyebrow (even worse). However, everything is not all black and there is still way for Venom – and the other spin-offs of Spider-Man – to work without the MCU . After all, an Eddie Brock embodied by Tom Hardy could be fascinating enough to follow his adventures without regretting the absence of Spidey and the rest of the Avengers. If the studios take the right angle to tell their duel against Carnage while finding a way to explain their existence without causing it to arise from the presence of Peter Parker, it may be that the film can stand up on its own. After all, we do not necessarily need the whole superhero team to tell the story of a super villain , even if this one comes from the Marvel stable.
Especially, Eddie Brock, like Silver Sable and Black Cat, is not a villain 100% villain, which leaves perhaps more room to explore his character without being confined to the role of super-villain . And if the studios take the time to establish a real coherence between the different films from the Spider-Man universe, then yes, the presence of the latter and of all the clique of the protagonists of the MCU will no longer be necessary. After all, does the publishing house Marvel not create a universe centered solely on Venom? So just keep your fingers crossed so that the film does not crash! What do you think ?
The post Venom: Can the movie really work without the MCU? first appeared on The Siver Times.

We saw it with Suicide Squad , in which the group of super villains faced an even more violent and destructive opponent than the sum of its united members. Because it is not because we are a villain that our opponents are necessarily superheroes in lycra multicolored! And we’ll have the opportunity to check again with Venom, Spider-Man’s spin-off with Tom Hardy , which was recently announced by Sony studios. As Spidey’s opponent, who is now partly with Marvel, who could Eddie Brock face in his own solo film? Because so much we like to see the bad guys just play the bad guys, It must be admitted that they are truly interesting only when they are measured against someone to their measure. So , we could summarize the question in these terms: to what other villain will the enemy of Spidey meet ? Melty can already provide you with an answer to this question.
Know that Venom will not be the only symbiote of the film. No, because his opponent will apparently be none other than … Carnage , the psychotic and violent offspring of Venom himself! If you’re a bit of a spider-man, you know that Eddie Brock once shared the cell of the serial killer Cletus Kasady and that the Venom symbiote eventually infected. And by thus transforming into a real machine to kill. For if Venom hates Spidey but avoids killing innocent people, Carnage does not feel this kind of scruple. And it is therefore normal that it represents the first opponent of Eddie Brock in his film solo. Or at least that’s what The Hollywood Reporter claims , who had the opportunity to speak with Tom Rothman, the president of Sony, About future plans that Sony is feeding for its Spiderverse. Because yes, it is indeed a Spiderverse that the studios seem to intend to create, which also justifies the fact that Venom will apparently not be part of the MCU . Anyway, Carnage will certainly represent an enemy at the height of Eddie Brock and the conflict between the two opponents is likely to be violent! What do you think ?
The post Venom: We know who will be Spider-Man’s spin-off villain first appeared on The Siver Times.
