Then did the last chapter of the life of the Queen of Scotland convince us? Well, it must be said that our feeling is mixed with Reign season 4 , as with every season, there is good and not so good . In the worst case, we will note the intrigue which takes place at the court of France . Since Mary left France, we are not going to lie, we do not have much to do with what happens there. We adore the character of Catherine De Medicis, it is unfortunately not enough to make the whole interesting.
Fortunately, we did have the visit of Catherine in Scotland who finally put the character forward as it deserves. Megan Follows and Adelaide Kane are both very good actresses and they work really well together . Too bad his passage was only of very short duration, for it was a real pleasure to see them plot together again. Another point that was embarrassing, especially when you know Marie Stuart’s story quite well, is that you really feel that the plot was accelerated in order to slide the highlights of his life after his Return to Scotland: his second marriage, the death of Rizzio, Bothwell, the birth of his son, his death … Obviously, We suspect that the writers did not really have the choice on learning that the series was not going to get fifth season and it was then necessary to condense years of history in 16 episodes. It feels all the more in the final series where everything is linked very quickly. Too bad the series did not have more time to properly develop its intrigues.
Otherwise, we are still fans of the character of Mary who still shows himself as a strong woman who will not yield to the pressure of men. The feminist discourse is always present in the series and carried brilliantly mainly by Mary and Elizabeth, the two queens who are forced to hate themselves lest men steal their thrones from them . They both take the problems with their arms and do not shrink from any challenge and it is important to show strong women like them on the screen. In the end, we still really enjoyed following this last season, despite the lengths and our disinterestedness of the French plot, because the series always manages to entertain us and this remains its main goal. We laughed, we cried, We were shocked and amazed and we know that Reign will miss us next year. For consolation, know that you can always read or re-read our review of the final series of Reign , on melty. What did you think of this season?
The post Reign Season 4: A Successful Chapter? You were then revealed who had not survived this final episode . Mary Stuart was expected to be executed under the orders of her cousin, Elizabeth. If this scene broke the hearts of all the fans of Reign, Mary nevertheless found peace. As for Catherine and Elizabeth, they were ready to begin the new chapter of their life and their ascension. Laurie McCarthy, the showrunner, gave additional explanations about the Reign Series Finale . She returned to the superb final scene where Mary finds her first love, Francis. “It was not the plan from the first day but at the beginning of their second season, their alchemy m ‘ Convinced that there would be no such great love for Mary … She faced so many conflicts, darkness and betrayal once she returned to Scotland. She was changed by more and more difficult events and choices, and knowing that the facts of her death were incontestable, I wanted to return to the joy she knew in her life and I thought she could mentally s’ Imagine there too. The idea and filming of the final scene came before Toby Regbo left the show, and long before we knew how many seasons would have. ” , She said. The idea and filming of the final scene came before Toby Regbo left the show, and long before we knew how many seasons would have. ” , She said.
Laurie McCarthy thought it was very important to give a happy ending to Mary even if it came after the death of Reign ‘s heroine . “We explored a very dark territory, played on things that are Really happened, a lot of things that would have happened, and some that happened later in his life or that are the subject of rumors. These scenes were hard to write and we all felt the pain of our character We wanted to feel her joy even in her last moments , “she explained. The showrunner also revealed why she had wanted to focus on the marriage of Mary and Darnley rather than jumping from events to events. ” Darnley was a complicated as well as faulty character, and I was so glad to have Will Kemp to play the role, so we gave everything for his second marriage and saw how the weaknesses of Darnley played in Mary’s downfall. But also, her marriage with Darnley was something daring that could have worked. It could have brought its power to England. It might have undermined Elizabeth in such a way that Mary could have unified the two nations … It was a strategic risk that also bothered Elizabeth and was part of her mistake. How can we not talk about it? “, She confessed. We then gave everything for her second marriage and saw how the weaknesses of Darnley played in the fall of Mary.
While the series Reign has not been renewed for a season 5, Laurie McCarthy would have liked to explore more in depth the life of the three Queens of the series . “I wanted to exploit everything: his third marriage, his flight … there would have been a western in another season, really, it would have been an interesting contrast with the machinations in France (a bloodbath, proportions we And I would have liked to see the rise of Elizabeth in England. However, there are undeniable economic considerations and the CW supported the show as long as it could of all Channel and studio were incredible partners, always opening the doors in a creative way, and I am deeply grateful for the time we had. ” , she confided. The showrunner also explained the fact that Catherine has finally chosen herself than her children. ” We the Prepared for her next chapter, when she had to manage her children fighting against each other, she realizes that some of them should never, never reign. It’s also worked like a Finale Series, as a highlight of a bow for it. At the beginning of the series, she would have done everything for her children (and for Francis she did), but as a hardened and surviving pragmatist she realized that sacrifices might not be worth it . “She concluded. The Reign universe is going to miss us a lot, but maybe Adelaide Kane could be back on TV as soon as Katherine Heigl from Gray’s Anatomy or Candice King from The Vampire Diaries. And you, what do you think of the revelations of Reign’s showrunner?
The post Reign season 4: Series Finale, the showrunner is explained on the end of the series first appeared on The Siver Times.

Last night, the American channel The CW broadcast the latest episode of the series Reign. Then discover our review of “All It Cost Her …”!
What an episode and, above all, what an end! Predictably, Reign took us out handkerchiefs for his latest episode, and if we feel clearly that the plots have been accelerated this year and even more in the final series, it’s all very satisfied with this. If, as usual, writers take liberties with historical facts, the main lines of the fall of Mary Stuart are there . And even if we regret that everything goes so quickly, it must be admitted that Laurie McCarthy and the rest of the team did well to conclude their story in sixteen episodes after learning the cancellation of the show by the CW. Our three queens are obviously at the heart of the intrigues, And the feminist side of the series is once again highlighted through the speeches of Mary and Elizabeth in particular. After these general remarks, let’s go back to episode 16 of Season 4 of Reign , a little more in details.
In Scotland, it is a real jerk of fight to find the newborn of Mary and fortunately it is at this time that James is back to the court. It is he who will find the child and bring it back to his sister, who will decide to call her James in honor of her savior. Mary, who refuses to live in constant fear that Darnley can come back and hurt her child, ends up accepting Bothwell’s proposal and authorizes her to kill her husband, the King of Scotland . If the queen was not ready to go before the murder before, the arrival of her child changes the situation. Unfortunately, nothing happens as planned. First, the explosion does not kill Darnley and Bothwell is forced to finish it with his hands. But, The Scottish Lords turn against him and denounce his crime with John Knox to secure their rear. Bothwell and Mary are arrested for murder …
Meanwhile, in England, Elizabeth is faced with the consequences of her actions, concerning the Spanish fleet but also its connection with Gideon. After killing Jane with her hands, Elizabeth must find a way to get rid of the archduke who presented her with a new marriage contract, much less pleasant than the first. Then comes the letter that Mary wrote in Reign’s Season 4 episode 15 , in which she calls her cousin for help and vows her to give up the English throne. Without the pressure of Scotland and Mary on her throne, Elizabeth is free to remain single, no longer needing the support of Austria or a union with the Archduke. If Mary allows Elizabeth to retain her freedom and power, The Queen of England will not have the same attentions towards her cousin … We still remember the moment when, dressed as a soldier, Elizabeth joined her men, ready to lead her army against the Spanish armada . “I would not bow to any man ,” she chants to her troops and one can only think “YASS QUEEN” .
As for the rest of the season, the French plot is by far the least exciting of the episode and the end of Catherine’s storyline is strange to say the least. Magic, plan of three, a witch who does not die … Yes, yes, we are well in France! If Catherine finally managed to end the quarrel between her two sons about Nicole by asking Emmanuelle to eliminate it, it would seem that this would have unfortunate consequences. First of all, Emmanuelle wants to be paid via a three-way plan with Catherine and Narcisse which allows her to carry in her the child of the devil – apparently . Then she revealed to Catherine that the plan of her sons to destroy Spain would not work. Either she allows them to do so, and Charles will not long remain on the throne, Or she tries to stop them and will be blamed and killed – nice . For the first time, Catherine chose to protect herself rather than her children . Little thought for Claude who really does not have the right to a happy ending, because after losing Leith, she also seems to have lost Luke … Poor Claude, you deserved better.
Finally, the series ends after a jump in the time of 21 years, where we find Mary the day of its execution. Despite a last attempt on the part of his son James – who is now an adult and King of Scotland – with Elizabeth to stop the execution of his mother, Elizabeth makes him understand that she will not change her mind. Either he accepts the execution of his mother and becomes the heir of the English crown, which will finally unite the two kingdoms, or he can save his mother. After so many years, Elizabeth is always fearful of her cousin. Fortunately for our little hearts, we do not witness the execution of Mary and instead we find her in the arms of Francis! Mary has endured all this but death brings her together to her forever love. It is a bitter-sweet end that Reign offers us for his final series , with flashes of the life of the queen of Scotland that bring us balm to heart after this tragic end. What did you think of this episode?
The post Reign season 4: Episode 16, the end of the reign, our critic of the final series first appeared on The Siver Times.

Fortunately, she can count on the help of Catherine who has moved to attend the wedding and who always finds a way to turn the situation to her advantage. To see Catherine and Mary together gave us a lot of pleasure, a pity that it only really lasts for an episode, since we barely seen it in episode 8 of season 4 of Reign which was broadcast the week The last. Mary would like to have her marriage canceled with Darnley, but she does not know how to do without scolding the Scottish population or the Vatican. Furthermore,
However, an event in Mary’s life will change everything: she learns that she is pregnant with Darnley. Mary can no longer consider canceling her marriage because her child would become a bastard and could not be her legitimate heir. Change plan so, now she must do everything to make sure Darnley is going to stand well. But while the whole castle is gathered to indulge in a little game, the future King of Scotland has disappeared. There is no challenge that Catherine De Medicis can not meet and she then confronts Darnley’s mother in order to find out what her son is doing. The scene between the two women is both masterful and very funny, and without surprises it is Catherine who has the last word . Darnley is simply plotting with the Vatican behind his bride’s back because both have a common will: to become the true Scottish sovereign in Mary’s place. We are reminded very quickly that we find ourselves in an extremely sexist period when men do not accept to see women in power, thinking they are incapable of governing properly. Sighs.
Thanks to Catherine who spurted the piece to Darnley’s mother, Mary discovers the pot-aux-roses and puts an end to their negotiations, returning Darnley to the castle like a vulgar disobedient child. A scene just before the royal wedding shows us the real face of Darnley – while this one is drunk – where he makes it clear to Mary that he will not make any effort to change. His character is infantilized, which clearly urges us to hate him and wish Mary to escape with Bothwell. But the wedding does take place, and Mary will start what promises to be already a complicated married life. Episode 9 of Season 4 of Reign ends in England where one discovers Elizabeth’s reaction to her rival’s marriage. Anger, Fear and sadness seized the Queen of England, who was in the midst of a crisis, and who attacked the portrait of her father. Rachel Skarsten makes us shiver and we feel her distress . Fortunately, she can count on the support of Gideon who is willing to fight for her and the English throne. This new episode of Reign brings together all that we love in the series: entertainment, shenanigans, reversals of situation and emotions. Unfortunately, Catherine must return to France and this saddens us because her duet with Mary is still working as well. What did you think of this episode? Catherine and Mary are finally together! But before rejoicing more, let’s go back to the events of the episode 8 of Reign season 4 . A Medicis can hide another, since at the beginning of “Uncharted Waters” it is Lucrezia de Medicis that Mary must do a great service if she wants to hope that this great Catholic family remains an ally. Her mission takes her to Bothwell, whom she met in the previous episode. As was suspected, The latter is indeed his “faithful watchman” , the one who kept him informed about the acts of Darnley. Bothwell is a mysterious character but seems sincere to Mary, unlike Darnley. But while Bothwell is about to convince Mary that she should not marry Darnley, a man – who seems to be at the end of his life – surprises them and declares that he comes from a friend. Our dear Bash has a message for her friend: she can either marry to have an heir or marry for love, not both. But while Bothwell is about to convince Mary that she should not marry Darnley, a man – who seems to be at the end of his life – surprises them and declares that he comes from a friend. Our dear Bash has a message for her friend: she can either marry to have an heir or marry for love, not both. But while Bothwell is about to convince Mary that she should not marry Darnley, a man – who seems to be at the end of his life – surprises them and declares that he comes from a friend. Our dear Bash has a message for her friend: she can either marry to have an heir or marry for love, not both.
If this whole story is pretty far-fetched, we’re happy to have a new little sign from Bash. In addition, Mary’s actions to throw Keira of the country entail his death. Darnley is shocked by this news and the hatred is now mutual between the two. What kind of wedding will this give? What advice will Catherine be able to give Mary? Meanwhile, in England, Elizabeth receives an explorer who has enervated Spain and who seeks refuge with the English queen. It is still an unattractive intrigue that is offered here at Elizabeth, although seeing it drunk and more casual is quite fun to see .
In France, the intrigues are not much more exciting – luckily we have Scotland! – since we continue to follow the worries of poor Charles. While he was finally better thanks to his reconversion, now everyone wants him to become Catholic again so that Leeza does not replace the King of France by another. If it is finally Claude’s new husband, Luc, who succeeds in convincing the French monarch to become Catholic again, Charles’s behavior at the end of the episode suggests that everything is not yet settled . Moreover, Luc also managed to get closer to Claude and we must recognize that the two characters gave us a very beautiful scene. It is hoped, however, that the intrigues taking place in England and France will improve. With the arrival of Catherine in Scotland anyway, we are really looking forward to the next episode of Reign’s season 4 . What did you think of this episode?
The post Reign Season 4: Episode 8, Mary finds Catherine, our critic! first appeared on The Siver Times.

It is in a relaxed atmosphere that the actress has revealed to us some spoilers crunchy on the last season of the series. Indeed, Season 4 Reign will unfortunately be the last because it was canceled by the CW it some time ago. The final season will start on the 10th of February in the United States and we propose you to discover some info on the intrigues to come. Moreover, also know that Season 3 Reign will soon be broadcast on the French channel 6b.
What can you tell us about Season 4?
Adelaide Kane: It’ll be great! Season 4 is great. I think this is our best season. I remarry, so we meet but second husband, and also my future third husband, he becomes a friend and confidant and helps me through a difficult period. […] It’s very fun, the occasion was to see her live this. I do not know if this is a spoiler or if people are already aware … It’s history anyway so I’ll pretend it was not a spoiler, but Mary gets pregnant and gives birth To a little boy, the future King James. What is great because I love children, I love babies and I was lucky to have a baby on the set which was awesome and very entertaining!
Will there be other tragic deaths?
Adelaide Kane: There are more deaths … I would say that there is not as much as in Season 3. And perhaps not always death in the literal sense, but the ‘dead’ relations The ‘death’ of friendships, the ‘death’ of political alliances. So there will still be a lot of deaths, but it will not be as devastating as in season 3.
If you could bring back one of the characters of death, who would it be?
Adelaide Kane: Francis. Of course Francis! My new husband would not be here, he would disappear in a mysterious way! (Laughs)
If you could play in another series now, what would it be?
Adelaide Kane: Westworld or Outlander. […] I watched the first season of the plane and Westworld Westworld is great, so fascinating! Yes, I’d love to play in Westworld, fingers crossed (laughs) !
What can you tell us about the new characters?
Adelaide Kane: For the Scottish Court, we Will Kemp who plays Lord Darnley, my second husband and this is a very fun but also very problematic relationship, and Will’s great. It’s a fantastic Darnley, like the little dirty boyfriend you want to hate but you like anyway. And then we also have Adam Croasdell playing Bothwell, who is also very nice to work and very fun even if we could not take this plot as far as we would have liked it because the series ends. We would have explored this more during Season 5 if we had been renewed. We also have new characters at the Court of France, and plenty of interesting new intrigues in this new season.
Did not you have to work with Megan Follows?
Adelaide Kane: Yes! I missed working with Megan. But her character makes a trip to Scotland, I would not tell you why, but she comes to Scotland so we could work together for some scenes, which was very nice. But I really do not want to work with her because she is such a good actress and I feel like I have always learned so much from her side. But, she’s in France, I could not steal her!
What can you tell us about the series you’ve never said before?
Adelaide Kane: Someone gets sick. Someone, in the new season, falls ill and goes mad, just like King Henry II … I can not tell you who else, I’m going to have problems, but someone gets crazy, really crazy.
Can you tease Mary a bit in this last season?
Adelaide Kane: I think Mary is growing very fast in season 4. She is desperately trying to follow the choices she has made. Some of the choices she made are not the wisest and she will be questioning again. There will be a sort of power struggle between her and Lord Darnley and even more than before the difficulty of being a woman in power with men who try to take him [will be emphasized, note] . What do you think ?
The post Reign season 4: Marriage, baby, new characters … Adelaide Kane (Mary) confides in the last season!
