We often hear that young people watch more series than films. Except for those stories there, whose format has evolved the other way.
Nothing is lost, everything is transformed ! On the one hand, the matter is already there, we agree. The plot, the characters, their links, the important events … Nevertheless, the writing is not the same, between a series composed of multiple episodes and a good feature film in one go. We’ll have to ask the guys who dealt with these transitions to find out more. In any case, to say that one watches only series is exaggerated and one proves it by showing the examples where we look at cinematographic versions of what our parents were watching on TV .
Scooby-Doo
Distributed from 1969 to 1970 on CBS, the original series “Scooby-Doo, where are you?” Had introduced the four adolescent hunters of supernatural mysteries, aboard their van. More than forty years later, in 2002, a film was released with Freddie Prinze Junior and Sarah Michelle Gellar in particular. Well, well, it was not crazy . Stretched over four highly fictional seasons (between 1959 and 1963), the original series on ABC focused more on the sides than the real fight against the prohibition of agent Eliot Ness. The 1987 film, where the agent is incarnated by Kevin Costner and the mafioso Al Capone by Robert De Niro, made much better the very special functioning of the economy in this era. Critical and commercial success, the feature film even brought back a trophy for the best supporting role to Sean Connery . The Brady Tribe (The Brady Bunch in VO)
The least known of the lot, no doubt! Also broadcast on American ABC between 1969 and 1974, this series showed our parents the hectic life of a family of six children, with its share of parallel or cross stories. Supposed to be scary, they turn out quite funny and fun. What made us want to know them and hang out with them, when we had to be afraid.
An allegory of the appeal – against appeal. You think … and then it’s the other way around. A known blow and my faith always effective when it is well done, then why deprive it? There the writers create a monster that turns out to be a good paw. Gentile, funny, sensitive … So, once is not custom, one would have become a friend with him! Guy Mann (“X-Files”)
While Mulder and Scully think they are suing a big-footed villain for horrendous grizzly murders, who likes to turn into a monster, it’s the other way around. Repeating a story and continuing it at any cost, in one way or another, rarely remains a good idea. These series have confirmed this.

Heroes Reborn
