In a recent interview, director Rian Johnson said the title The Last Jedi was in the singular and not the plural, as the French title suggests.

When the international title of Star Wars 8 was unveiled to us last January , we all wondered whether The Last Jedi was singular or plural. Then the French title arrived, The Last Jedi , and there was no longer any need to ask the question, if not who were these last famous jedi. But the director Rian Johnson himself is turning everything upside down. Indeed, for him, The Last Jedi is definitely a title in the singular and not in the plural. “It’s so much fun when people ask me this ,” he told ABC NEWS at the Star Wars Celebration last week. “As a matter of fact, I had never even thought about it. A first official poster for Star Wars The Last Jedi has just been unveiled. Luke Skywalker, Rey and Kylo Ren!
Today was a very special day for fans of Star Wars. Because at the famous Star Wars Celebration , the official trailer of Star Wars The Last Jedi was unveiled . So yes, the idea of seeing them sink into oblivion again – and this time definitely – makes us a little panic! Except that in fact, if you think about it, the Jedi have not really helped the Galaxy and its inhabitants recently . They did not foresee or prevent the revolt of the Separatists, nor did they perceive the threat represented by Palpatine when he began to maneuver to overthrow the Republic. Despite their powers and sensitivity to the Force and despite their mythical dimension, the Jedi could not therefore oppose the plans of the Sith Lords. As for Luke, we admire his courage and determination, of course, but we forget a little easier than it is not him who defeated the Emperor in Return of the Jedi . Besides, our hero would have died if Darth Vader had not, in a final burst, reject the dark side of the Force to help him . So finally, the Jedi proved that they could no longer preserve peace in the galaxy, nor balance in the Force. There is much talk about the fact that Kylo Ren is still attracted to the luminous side of the Force and that Rey, according to several theories, could ultimately succumb to the dark side. As for Rey, she has been abandoned as a child, and nothing tells us that she has not retained some form of bitterness and resentment. Sure, Star Wars has always had a rather Manichean discourse, but the new trilogy should also correspond to our time. And come to mix with two characters at the bright side and the dark side, what is done after all human nature, might appear as a fine conclusion . And now we know that Star Wars 8 will be called The Last Jedi. As a result, one wonders: to whom does the title refer? To Luke Skywalker or Rey?
That’s it ! After months of waiting, assumptions, false rumors and announcements, it is FINALLY there! The official title of Star Wars 8 was unveiled and – Oh My God – it is also surprising and mysterious qu’excitant. So the film is now called ” The Last Jedi ” in the original and it makes us already completely crazy. Because inevitably, as we did for The Force Wake , one wonders about its meaning, then, immediately, we frankly do not seem very optimistic his side a little final. But before we jump to conclusions and ask if any of our characters will die tragically, we can already ask to whom the title refers . And there are two obvious solutions that literally jump out of our eyes. The last Jedi in Episode VIII might as well be Luke Skywalker , who, after defeating the Emperor, attempted to reform the Jedi Order, Rey , the newcomer is able to master the Force by Instinct without having (a priori) never received teaching. Already, simply because it is literally THE last existing Jedi in the galaxy . With consecutive disappearance of Obi-Wan and Yoda, Luke is the only master the Force like the old Jedi, even though the title has not been awarded – the Council no longer exists ( duh …) – and even if it has not received a complete training. But he is indeed a Jedi, who even took disciples before Ben Solo turned the dark side and killed everyone. And then there is another proof, less obvious one, which leads us to believe that the character Luke is concerned by the title of Star Wars 8 . And this proof is a little phrase … scrolling text of the Force Alarm , which refers to our hero by calling it a ” last Jedi .” So we would think that Star Wars 8 , which should focus much on Luke and the reasons for his exile also means we reveal what it means to be the last Jedi and responsibilities that entails . Except that in fact, there is another contender for the title of Jedi and it is obviously Rey.
Because we all understand that the relationship between Rey and Luke Skywalker would be the heart of Star Wars 8 and that our young heroine just arrived on Ach-To will follow the teachings of the Jedi. The original English title finally being rather vague, you might think that this is actually Rey who is directly affected . However, the hypothesis is somewhat problematic. On the one hand, Rey is not a Jedi. She may become one, yes, but for the moment she (probably) only discovered the Force. And there’s little chance she’ll become a Jedi in two hours. On the other hand, one can imagine that Luke, who does not grow younger, gradually disappears behind his apprentice to leave him the place and to entrust to him the responsibility of perpetuating the tradition of the Jedi. Star Wars 8: Can Kylo Ren redeem himself thanks to Leia?

With the disappearance of Carrie Fisher, Leia could experience the same fate as Han Solo in Star Wars 8 or Star Wars 9. But what impact would her death have on Kylo Ren?
For almost a month now, the question before us as we, fans of Star Wars , is not that about the identity of Rey. No, one wonders especially about the fate that will be reserved to Leia. With the tragic death of Carrie Fisher and refusal to produce the digitally recreate Star Wars 8 and its sequel (phew …), the fate of the character has become more uncertain. In fact, it seems that there is only one valid solution and it is unfortunately our princess to disappear as Han Solo at the end of the Alarm Force . Sure, it risks us (again) the heart, but it is still the most logical. But if Leia were to die in Star Wars 8 or Star Wars 9 , he could what impact such an event have on the other characters ? In an interview, director Rian Johnson kindly gave some clues as to the continuation of the plot between Rey and Luke Skywalker. And it promises!

Many rumors circulate around the plot of Star Wars 8, but we will have to wait a little longer before discovering which are true and which ones are false. Say, at least until April, which will be released the first trailer , giving us an idea of the direction of the film, and for some, until his release in December. But meanwhile, the director Rian Johnson wants to give us some information, including the relationship between Luke and Rey. According to a recent rumor, Rey will face an impressive sea monster in the next installment of the Star Wars saga!
According to the first teaser for Star Wars 8 , Rey should undergo training with Luke Skywalker. This training will be held on the island of AHCH-To will and heroin face an awesome enemy . The site at the origin of the leak is Making Star Wars , big accustomed rumors prove true more often around the universe created by George Lucas.
