So as to say that this amazing film, which resembles no other, will have taken its time before reaching us. In the end, if it finally arrived in our dark rooms, it is thanks to its director Rupert Sanders ( Blanche Neige and the Hunter ), absolute fan of the universe of Ghost in the Shell . Melty also spoke with the director on the occasion of his visit to Paris in order to learn more about the behind-the-scenes of the film’s production. And what to know, Is that Rupert Sanders arrived on the project only very late , after being contacted by Steven Spielberg himself, who held the rights of adaptation. ” I joined the project when Steven Spielberg contacted me and asked me if I liked Ghost in the Shell, and I told him I was an unconditional fan. Asked me: ‘How would you do it?’ So I started to create a graphic novel inspired by the images and ideas that touched me most and I wrote the story of the film as I conceived it I brought him the graphic novel and he really liked my ideas and entrusted me with the film . ” Which held the rights of adaptation. ” I joined the project when Steven Spielberg contacted me and asked me if I liked Ghost in the Shell, and I told him I was an unconditional fan. So I started to create a graphic novel inspired by the images and ideas that touched me most and I wrote the story of the film as I conceived it. I brought him the graphic novel and he really liked my ideas and entrusted me with the film . “. How would you realize it? . So I started to create a graphic novel inspired by the images and ideas that touched me most and I wrote the story of the film as I conceived it. I brought him the graphic novel and he really liked my ideas and entrusted me with the film . “.
Then came the search for a very cosmopolitan casting able to incarnate the characters of Ghost in the Shell . For Rupert Sanders soon wanted to describe a city where all ethnicities and cultures would mix. ” I thought that in the future, […] we will live in increasingly cosmopolitan cities, I thought that Hong Kong could serve as a backdrop, and I wanted to have a cast of actors I admired the work in the cinema . ” The director went to meet Scarlett Johansson and Pilou Asbæak but also contacted Juliette Binoche, who told us about her character in Ghost in the Shell , And Takeshi Kitano – all the actors and actresses that had to be convinced to join the project. But for that, Rupert Sanders had a strong argument: his passion ! ” But I think they felt my passion for this universe, they saw the aspect of this world, and they thought it would be a unique opportunity,” he said in our interview. A unique opportunity for a unique film, that’s for sure!
Writing and performing Ghost in the Shell , Rupert Sanders obviously thought of the fans of his universe – of which he is a part – but also to those who know nothing about it. It was necessary not only to make the world and themes of Ghost in the Shell accessible to the neophytes while satisfying the fans. On this difficult balancing act, the director also gives us some details, confessing: ” We had to find the simplest way to enter [this universe]. I think if we had just done the Ghost in the Shell original, people would have been disoriented. We had to find a story that could introduce people to the universe of Ghost in the Shell . Action and spectacle are the two elements which,
And to satisfy the fans, Rupert Sanders of course made fun by including iconic scenes of the original works! ” I really asked myself, ‘As a fan, what would I like to see in the movie?’ “, He says. The head of geisha exploding, the scene in which Major confronts a tank or thermoptic clothing … all these elements are therefore present in Ghost in the Shell , the director specifying: ” I thought that if I went to see the film and I do not see these items, I would be very disappointed. ” . This does not mean that the feature film takes up word-for-word and scene-by-scene original works. Moreover, Mamoru Oshii, The director of the two animated films, supported the project, encouraging Rupert Sanders to make his own adaptation. And here is the advice he received from him: ” He just said to me: ‘Make your own film!’ He wanted me to impose no limits. That he should do something different. “He did not want me to reproduce what he had done .” So what exploring new aspects of Ghost in the Shell and Major, her heroine ! I think he understood that we had to do something different. He did not want me to reproduce what he had done . “So to explore new aspects of Ghost in the Shell and Major, her heroine ! I think he understood that we had to do something different. He did not want me to reproduce what he had done . “So to explore new aspects of Ghost in the Shell and Major, her heroine !
The post Ghost in the Shell: Rupert Sanders, “It was necessary to find the simplest way to enter this universe” first appeared on The Siver Times.

This world is that of Ghost in the Shell realized by Rupert Sander (already at the head of Blanche-Neige and the Hunter ). In the film, actress Scarlett Johansson plays the Major, leader of an anti-terrorist brigade named Section 9 whose goal is to track down a mysterious hacker who is both formidable and unobtainable. Through this quest, Rupert Sanders questions the viewer and the heroine on the place of Man in the middle of the machines as well as their quest for identity. And it is through this quest that the Major will face a large number of threats, She will not hesitate to confront during stylized action scenes and choreographed to perfection . Impossible not to be impressed by our heroine and its enhanced capabilities thanks to the technology developed by Doctor Ouélet (our national Juliette Binoche!).
For the occasion, the technical teams of Ghost in the Shell have created a film with an unprecedented visual identity . The film is endowed with an almost limitless imagination through its highly intelligent robots, its large futuristic buildings where enormous holograms are projected. The city moves constantly and Section 9 seems to know the slightest recesses (up to a box of Yakuzas that will give a scene of action rather nice). Music is also playing well with the resumption of the famous theme composed by Kenji Kawai during the introduction during which the Major is “created” . Rupert Sanders takes advantage of this scene to unveil the ”
As for the scenario, be prepared to be surprised : Ghost in the Shell is swarming with small turns of situation that will make you see the film from another angle! Under the powerful conspiracies that litter the story are questions about a future rather close to us and which give Ghost in the Shell a surprising depth . It’s simple, producer Michael Costigan describes the film as “a futuristic world where one would like to live and where one can fulfill one’s dreams” … but would we be willing to abandon our humanity for that? To get your own idea, you’ll have to discover Scarlett Johansson in the role of the Major, a heroine in search of her identity in Ghost In The Shell , in cinema tomorrow!
The post Ghost in the Shell: A surprising and visually impressive adventure, our critic first appeared on The Siver Times.

In this futuristic cyberpunk Japan, mores have changed profoundly and the unmodified human being must make a place in the middle of the machines and other augmented. To offer this world rich in neon lights, holograms as advertisements projected on huge towers and other vehicles, the Ghost in the Shell team shot much of the film in New Zealand in state-of-the-art production trays built By Peter Jackson himself , the director behind The Lord of the Rings.
Chef-Decorator Jan Roelfs also put the package together with artistic director Richard L. Johnson and his team of 250 people . As much as to say that nothing was left to chance in the conception of the world of Ghost in the Shell, of which Scarlett Johansson wakes up in the skin of the Major in an extrait unpublished . Of course, despite the presence of computer terrorism and other government plots, the film’s producer acknowledges that the film offers “a futuristic world where one would like to live and where one can fulfill one’s dreams .
The post Ghost in the Shell: A film with an unprecedented visual identity first appeared on The Siver Times.

Ghost in the Shell is the story of a cyber-terrorist. But it is also and above all the history of the quest of the Major, who sets off in search of his past.
Major, the heroine of Ghost in the Shell played by Scarlett Johansson, is not a young woman like the others, far from it! Victim of a terrible accident where she thinks she has lost everything, she wakes up in a completely robotic body, her brain alone being preserved before being transplanted into her new cybernetic envelope. No wonder then we feel so disoriented in this excerpt of Ghost in the Shell where she realizes that she is no longer quite herself. First of its kind, however, Major combines human intelligence and the physical and destructive efficiency of a robot, making it the perfect weapon for dealing with cyber-terrorists who abound in what has become a hyper-connected world . With the help of the rest of Section 9, Major eliminates the threat of hackers without asking too many questions. Only then, the human mind is not a computer program that can be erased or rewritten at will . And soon our heroine experiences glitches , these technical flaws that bring back to the surface images of a past that has nothing to do with the one she is supposed to remember. What to push her to wonder about herself … These technical flaws that make the surface of the images of a past that has nothing to do with the one it is supposed to remember. What to push her to wonder about herself … These technical flaws that make the surface of the images of a past that has nothing to do with the one it is supposed to remember. What to push her to wonder about herself …
You know, meltynauts, Ghost in the Shell deals with many themes, including mind-hacking, which, as the name suggests, hacks the minds of people through their own cyber-enhancement. And, as you can see from the last trailer of Ghost in the Shell in which Motoko is rebellious, our heroine has more or less undergone a similar treatment. As Kuze says, those who created him robbed his life. Which means they also stole his memories! So it’s in a real quest for identity that Major will start, tracking down Kuze who seems to know a lot about her and how she was conceived. Does this cyber-terrorist who hacks robots and artificial intelligences to achieve his goal also has clues about Motoko’s past life? This is one of the many questions our heroine will ask, while questioning herself and her own humanity. Difficult indeed to feel still human when all your body is composed of cybernetic parts!
Ghost in the Shell poses through the character of Major the question of memory, memory, and how they shape our personality. Is Major really what she thinks to be, or have the memories implanted transform her? And if yes, how ? By looking for her past, however painful it may be, our heroine seeks above all to rediscover herself. And it is his “Ghost”, which is none other than the human soul, which awakens in its robotic shell – its “Shell” – and which will guide its research . What then lead her on a tortuous and difficult path, which will nevertheless allow her to recover her lost humanity. And to know, finally, who she really is … and what she really wants to become. Is it our past that defines us or do our actions determine who we are? To this question, Major will also have to find an answer if she wants to be able to finally accept herself as she is and pursue her life! Will you see the movie?
The post Ghost in the Shell: Major (Scarlett Johansson), a heroine in search of her past first appeared on The Siver Times.

And science-fiction says “push technology” that will allow characters to push the limits possible and known by humans. One of them concerns neither more nor less than the human brain and its link with the robotics since it is possible to pirate it in Ghost in the Shell through the Mind Hacking . A practice that will be at the center of the plot between Major (Scarlett Johansson) and The Marionette, mysterious cyber-terrorist. In Ghost in the Shell, who unveiled new animated posters of his characters ,
In Ghost in the Shell , the “Ghost” refers directly to the human soul and “Shell” to the empty shell that can accommodate the latter. Thus, it is possible through the Mind Hacking to hack a Ghost and implant him memories, new personalities, to make his puppet what. In other words, the threat of such an attack is rather serious in an ultra-connected cyberpunk world unfolding in … 2029. Not far from us what ! But despite all the technology-related themes developed in Ghost in the Shell, Scarlett Johansson presented the Major in an unprecedented featurette , spirituality and the place of soul and soul
In Ghost in the Shell , the entities are malleable and can therefore be modified via Mind Hacking . It is not for nothing that the cyber-terrorist of the film is called “The Puppeteer” … we let you guess why! Between government plots, terrorism, global conflicts and other manipulations of being, we are promised that Ghost in the Shell may be rather strong in sensations and reflections. Rendez-vous with the cinema on Wednesday 29 March .
The post Ghost in the Shell: Mind hacking in the heart of the plot, what is it? first appeared on The Siver Times.

Since the time we talk about it, it is true that it will make us wait. If it first of all made him speak because of the polemic surrounding the choice of Scarlett Johansson to play the main character, the film has since been able to detach itself from all this. Today, if we talk about him, it is to evoke his extraordinary cyberpunk and futuristic atmosphere – but not too much – his cyborgs that put vaguely uncomfortable and his fascinating heroine, to which Scarlett Johansson, d ‘After what has been seen, succeeded in giving a true depth. It must be said that Motoko Kusanagi, alias the Major, is a complex character , As the actress was able to tell us in the featurette of Ghost in the Shell where she presents her role and reminds us of her very human dimension. In any case, the different trailers of the film put us water in the mouth and we are impatient to see what the end result may well give. And since we do not want you to embark on the adventure without having a minimum of cards in hand, melty unveils the three critical points that you must absolutely know about Ghost in the Shell before going to see it in the movies!
An intrigue in a futuristic world
A fascinating heroine is fantastic and you can not dream better. But it also needs a solid intrigue that goes with it! And luckily, Ghost in the Shell should not disappoint us at that level. On the surface, the film plunges us into a futuristic world, not so far from ours, where androids, cyborgs and artificial intelligences are common currencies. It follows the adventures – or rather the grim investigations – of Section 9, an anti-terrorist unit headed by the ruthless Daisuke Aramaki (Takeshi Kitano) and of which the Major is a part. And the Section this time has the task of arresting a certain Kuze, who decided to sow the bazaar in androids . That’s it, it’s for the central pitch. But Ghost in the Shell also tells the story of Motoko Kusanagi, who finds himself in a cybernetic body that is not his own and with memories that may not even belong to him. Then by chasing Kuze and trying to end her activities, it is also herself that Motoko tries to find . Knowing who we are, this is a question we all ask, right?
An ambiguous villain
Speaking of the wicked, precisely, who is he really? The main enemy of Section 9 is not here the Puppeteer or the Ginger, as one might have thought. No, it’s Kuze , which is played by Michael Pitt, which fans of Broadwalk Empire will easily recognize since he lent his traits to Jimmy Darmody in the first two seasons of the series. And he is not a cyber criminal like the others, far from it! In fact, as you may have seen in the latest Ghost in the Shell trailer , Kuze is also a cyborg who likes hacking in android programs to turn them against humans and sow chaos. But most of all, this villain seems to know a lot about the Major and his past. Does not he tell her that she is being used and that, far from having been saved by her transformation, she has actually become a prisoner of those who created her? So much to say that, for Motoko, the fight against Kuze is going to be very, very personal …
Very philosophical themes
As you can see, Ghost in the Shell talks about fairly philosophical themes, such as memory and identity. Through the character of Motoko, these are questions like ” What does it mean to be human? ” Or ” What makes me am me? ” That poses the film. But that’s not all ! For it also obviously covers a whole section concerning the evolution of technology. Already because it stages not only the androids but also cyborgs – beings therefore half humans half robots – who no longer distinguish the boundary between what is human in them and what is not more. And then there is of course a reflection on hacking , Which allows certain cyber-criminals to steal identity, even conscience, from people like Motoko. What show us that technology, if not controlled, can be manipulated and used against humanity at very intimate levels. And such a questioning, in an era like ours where hacking became commonplace, is finally very relevant! Will you see the movie?
The post Ghost in the Shell: Plot, Evil … 3 things to know about the movie first appeared on The Siver Times.

And then, starting in March, Motoko Kusanagi, who will make his first steps in a live film under the guise of Scarlett Johansson . As a member of an elite unit fighting against terrorism of all kinds, the Major is as effective in combat as it is in conducting investigations. And yet, torn between her new life and her old identity that comes back to haunt her, Mokoto has to face many personal difficulties. And unexpected dilemmas! This only makes it more impressive, in the end. As a result, we can not wait to see what Scarlett Johansson, Who has confessed to prefering his costume from Ghost in the Shell to that of Black Widow , will bring to the character. So while waiting for the release of the film on March 29, the Paramount once again proves to us how much Motoko is as extraordinary as it is fascinating thanks to a new image!
And so we find our hero on a motorcycle, a motorcycle that we very briefly saw in the last trailer of Ghost in the Shell . Dressed in her black suit, she is a priori in the same setting that we discovered on the very first images of the film and which clearly does not look very welcoming. It remains to be seen what she is doing in this place and, most importantly, whether it is related to her investigation of Kuze, the villain of Ghost in the Shell . As you can see, this picture comes straight from Empire Magazine, which also took advantage of it to talk with Scarlett Johansson. The actress thus explained how the character of Motoko had interested him greatly , recounting: ”
The post Ghost in the Shell: Motoko (Scarlett Johansson) on a new photo first appeared on The Siver Times.

In Ghost in the Shell, Scarlett Johansson wears a very tight outfit, reminiscent of Black Widow. The actress has confided in the characteristics of her costume!
Motoko Kusanagi, as an orroid to fight terrorists, has (inevitably) the right to state-of-the-art equipment! And melty’s editorial does not just talk about his weapons and his gadgets, which allow him to deal with most situations. No, like some other super heroines, the Major wears a rather special outfit, as we saw in the recent trailer of Ghost in the Shell . Except that in fact – and that fans of the original works know it – Motoko spends a lot in time in the manga and in the animated films to be … half or even completely naked! Which is problematic when for a live adaptation. Fortunately for Scarlett Johansson, The feature film team managed to create a costume that completely covered it but still remained faithful to the atmosphere and design of the elements of the original works . The actress has also entrusted himself on this very tight-fitting outfit, which she compares with another costume of the same kind that she wears on another well-known franchise!
Scarlett Johansson, who recently responded to the controversy surrounding her role in Ghost in the Shell , gave some details about the clothes she donned for the film, saying: ” When I saw the animated film, I said to myself, ‘I’m obviously not naked. We all agree that I’m not naked, right?’ ” And we can understand indeed that this little detail gave the actress a few cool sweats! Finally, it is a fitting combination, able to reflect its environment, that Scarlett Johansson carries in the film . And between the latter and that of Black Widow, that she puts on the productions Marvel , the actress already knows which she prefers! ” This combination is easier to wear than Black Widow, and it is easier to fight with . “She admitted to the magazine and gave us some technical details to prove it.” Black Widow’s outfit is made of neoprene, and sometimes even leather – which is absolutely horrible. [Motoko’s] is made of a silicone-based material, so you can be shredded in it, but only the outfit suffers, not your body. I’ve slaughtered them all. . “At least we know therefore that Scarlett Johansson has given herself fully to play the role of Motoko! We will in any case very soon have the opportunity to detail its holding in the film on 29 mas. How Do you find Motoko’s outfit?
The post Ghost in the Shell: Motoko vs. Black Widow, which costume does Scarlett Johansson prefer? first appeared on The Siver Times.

But next March, it is in the role of a real cyborg that we will find her! Because, as you know, the actress lends her face to the fascinating Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell, part 8 with Star Wars and The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 of the most anticipated films of 2017 . And both say that the actress, despite the controversy of the white washing that surrounded the film Rupert Sanders after the announcement of its participation, seems perfectly at ease in this role. There is no denying the trailer of Ghost in the Shell was simply amazed us with its aesthetic steampunk, its dark atmosphere and creepy characters as improbable! In short, you’ll understand the meltynautes, we won and we can not wait to see more . Fortunately, we can count on the studios to make us wait (or make us even more sick of excitement, to choose) with the help of a few cleverly distilled images. And after several weeks of radio silence, Motoko Kusanagi is finally talking about her again with a photo taken directly from the film.
One can immediately thank the magazine Empire for! It is indeed he who unveiled for the first time in exclusivity this image which depicts Scarlett Johansson in the skin of the Major. And this one here seems particularly determined. She holds her gun with a firm hand and even wields a knife, proof that it is really not to look for her. Frankly, we would not like to be in the place of his opponent. If opponent, there is of course. Because it is difficult or impossible to infer anything from this, except that Motoko is located in a rather tense . For the rest, it is not known if it confronts another cyborg, a terrorist or the famous villain of the film embodied by Michael Pitt. As a member of Section 9, fighting terrorism, the Major often has the opportunity to encounter all kinds of criminals. Anyway, this photo reminds us how Motoko Kusanagi is a heroine badass . What convinced us that, as we promised the director, Ghost in the Shell exceeds all limits ! What do you think of this image?
The post Ghost in the Shell: Major (Scarlett Johansson) armed and threatening on a new image first appeared on The Siver Times.

“In the jungle you will wait a 5 or Aug. 1 will deliver you.” Already 21 years that the film Jumanji with Robin Williams in the shoes of Alan Parrish, was released in movie theaters. Since, Jumanji , his evil dice and his crazy jungle became cult, and it is undoubtedly one of the movies we like to watch again and again. Even more since Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014, leaving the film world in mourning. But as tribute to him, a new version was developed, expected for December 22, with Dwayne Johnson in the title role and Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. According to him, Robin Williams would have loved . But many fans of the first hour slightly perplexed before this new plot. The final verdict will unfortunately not be available for a year, then in the meantime, and if we plunged back with nostalgia in the original film? This is what melty offers, making you discover 5 things you did not know about this cult 1990s .
1) Scarlett Johansson could have been at the casting
Eh yes ! It gives you a corner, is not it? Scarlett Johansson, who was 10 at the time of the shooting, had auditioned for the role of Judith in Jumanji . It was finally Kirsten Dunst who got the role of the girl with long blond braids and denim overalls. As for Scarlett Johansson, it has not lost out because it was still able to launch his career with the film The man who Whisperer horses .
2) One actor played two different roles
You remember the villain poacher of the jungle of Jumanji, Van Pelt? Well do you realize that the actor who incarnated him, Jonathan Hyde, also played the father of Alan Parrish! With his little goat, his mustache and his fair hair, we would not have recognized him if we had not been told!
3) Alan Parrish might not have existed
Difficult to imagine Jumanji without Alan Parrish, is not it? Yet in the novel for children which is from the history of film, the character of Robin Williams does not exist! It was entirely invented by the scriptwriters of the film, and it is not to displease us. For without this wacky character, the film probably would not have had the same flavor, and therefore probably would not have become as cult.
4 / The word Jumanji is a Zulu word meaning “many effects”
5 / Kirsten Dunst spent about two weeks in a water tank
What should not be done to melt into a role. Leonardo DiCaprio knows all too well, but he is not the only one. For filming scenes of monsoon movie Jumanji , the young actress Kirsten Dunst had to stay in a water tank for nearly two weeks. His mother had to send the sandwiches by raft. Robin Williams said his “testes looked like raisins”, only after spending 12 hours in it. Then two weeks, we dare not imagine. So, did you imagine that?
The post Jumanji: 5 things you did not know about the original movie first appeared on The Siver Times.
