As every year, choices have had to be made and some series have therefore been set aside since it is impossible to select absolutely all series . A short tour of the series that did not participate but that we adore nevertheless.
Shameless US
The Shameless series in the American style is still not part of our competition but it is not for lack of love. The Gallagher family continues to make us laugh and cry with their adventures and we are already looking forward to Fiona, Lip, Debbie, Ian and the others in the next season . Adapted from the British eponymous series, Shameless tells of the galleys of a large family whose parents are not exactly models. But their trials bring them closer together and always show a sense of solidarity as powerful as it is touching despite all their disputes. Even if she can not win the competition, Shameless has already won in our hearts.
Supergirl
Superman’s cousin Superman is not part of the competition but everyone knows her legendary strength and merit. Supergirl never ceases to amaze us by continuing to fight against all the assailants of National City and season 2 has ended on a grand episode . With her sister Alex at her side and gifted and courageous friends, Kara is there to repel all threats and we hope to see her continue on the CW for many more years.
Orphan Black
Sarah Manning’s clones also deserved to be part of the 2017 World Cup and you can testify to your love for Orphan Black in the comments below. The series that blends thriller and science fiction to perfection continues to amaze us with its ever more intensive and mysterious intrigues. Cloning, women’s rights to their bodies, genetic evolution … All these fascinating themes are highlighted thanks to the talent of the incredible Tatiana Maslany, who alone composes at least half of the cast.
sense8
Despite his too early cancellation, Sense8 would deserve to win all the competitions. His intrigue around eight mind-connected sensates that are fighting an organization that wants to dissect their brains is as original as well-conducted. Filming around the world, casting as talented as diversified, the message of tolerance and love that it transmits … We miss everything, but above all the cluster that we have come to know and love through the Two seasons …
Suits
Suits’ Season 7 is back this summer, July 12th, but for our Summer Series group too, we had to make choices. Yet even if it is not in this category, it does not mean that we forget it. It is always a pleasure to continue to follow the adventures of Mike and Harvey, and even more so since Mike finally became a lawyer . We can not wait to see him rework at Specter & Litt despite his sometimes heated relationship with Harvey and know what awaits them in the next season!
The Handmaid’s Tale
She arrives very quickly on OCS – June 27 more precisely – and we can only advise her: The Handmaid’s Tale offered us a first masterful season that takes to the guts. By plunging us into a dystopian future where women no longer have any rights over their bodies, the adapted series of Margaret Atwood’s novel shows a frightening world of realism . Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, Top of the Lake) shines in the title role and the rest of the equally talented cast only adds to the intensity of the entire series.
Gotham
The DC series may well be out of competition this year, that does not mean that we put Gotham aside to forget it. Season 3 has just ended on the FOX but she has not been selected to be part of the Summer Series in the 2017 World Cup. Yet the adventures of James Gordon are still exciting to follow And we hope to continue learning more about the Wayne family’s past with Bruce . In short, the FOX has offered us a lively season which makes us look forward to seeing the sequel in September.
Here is a quick tour of some of the series that were not in competition but still deserve all our love. We have also not forgotten This is Us, Nashville, The Leftovers, iZombie, Big Little Lies or House of Cards that we also carry in our hearts but we had to make choices. And you, what series would you like to see in the competition?
The post Shameless, Sense8, Orphan Black: Series that did not participate in the 2017 World Cup first appeared on The Siver Times.

Representation is good. Good performance is better! A short guide to LGBT friendly series that do good.
Representation is a concept that looks simple enough but that, apparently, is always as hard to apply for some showrunners. As they say, it takes everything to make a world and see lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters in the series, it always brings a certain touch of realism and open-mindedness some of whom would do well to take inspiration . Yes, the series with straight white men in lead is nice, but it feels good to see something else also not? We propose you a small list of LGBT friendly series in which the representation is not only there, but more importantly, realistic or happy or better: the 3 at the same time.
Gray’s Anatomy
In Gray’s Anatomy , everyone is treated the same way and that is his strength. Airplane accident, amputation, car accident, risky childbirth and other horrors that the fans know well … The characters can be straight, bi, gay or other, Shonda Rhimes does not give anybody a gift and it’s nice to see – finally Way of speaking . Yes, via Callie, Arizona or even couples of patients of the same kind, the series shows us that it is possible not to define its characters by their sexual orientation , without passing it over in silence. Thanks Shonda!
The L Word
Everything is in the title but since the word is still a bit scary today, it is said with you: lesbian – but it also works for love, lust and other themes according to the interpretation of each . Completed for several years – is also expected over – The L Word we sometimes delves with great detail in circles lesbians in Los Angeles with Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane, Dana and others. But that’s not all, as Max, a transgender person, also plays an important role in showing us some of the difficulties transgender people face. Despite a lot of clichés and stereotypes sometimes annoying, The L Word is above all a way to immerse completely in a world where ”
Faking It
Faking It is proof that MTV can do very good with not much. Small (and talented) casting, simple story, original pitch of departure and teenagers endearing: this is the recipe for the success of the series which ended in 2016 . With Amy discovering her bisexuality and her nascent love for her BFF while rejecting the labels, Shane who assumes her colorful homosexuality, Lauren who educates on her intersexuality and Noah, discreet transgender, the representation there is at the top and all delicacy. In short, it is only pleasure.
Transparent
Despite a major negative point since the transgender character of the series is not a transgender actress, Transparent remains a small nugget to be enjoyed with pleasure. His freed and sometimes a bit crazy characters have something out of the ordinary and show that there is really no shame in being a different hair.
Looking
All the good things have an end but Looking’s was perhaps a little too premature and this is his biggest flaw. With Jonathan Groff charming as Patrick as possible , Looking takes us on a tour of the gay community of San Francisco and his love dramas, mixing humor and touching scenes.
sense8
One only has to look at a few episodes to realize that Sense8 is THE definition of self-acceptance and love for all . Tolerance and solidarity are at the heart of the Netflix series and there is nothing to say, nothing to see the sensates pick up with a single voice “What’s Up” to warm your heart on days of great sorrow ( And the others). All we have to do is to hope that, like them, we all one day come to put our differences aside and retain only the essential. Yes, we can always dream …
Obviously these are not the only series that include LGBT characters in their stories in an adroit way since Queer as Folk is also a cult of the genre, How to Get Away with Murder proves that network chains can show a lot if the will is there . And Shameless US , Orange is the New Black , Wynonna Earp and others still extend the list, do not hesitate to share your favorites! So, what do you think ?
The post The series with a good LGBT representation is here first appeared on The Siver Times.

We’ve all watched one or more, sometimes the series entertain but also reflect, and that’s what’s good!
No, the series are not always made to gobble in front of the TV and empty the brain. If, for example, we are allowed to take a little interest in politics , others call into question everything that we know about life, death and what is in between. Even if it is sometimes necessary to see them and see them again to understand everything – and still there are some who remain full of mysteries after 5 rewatchs Lost kind – it must be admitted that it is good to look at something that makes think about Subjects as varied as serious as our place on Earth, the drifts of consumption or the search for happiness.
The Leftovers
Cathartic par excellence, if The Leftovers never left you speechless or tearful before the beauty of a scene, you are asked your secret. Between people who refuse to talk and lose their lungs by smoking cigarettes on cigarettes, magically empty rivers, hallucinations and returns to life in the Jesus, the series of Damon Lindelof has enough to make the Neurons . We sometimes wonder what happens but the result is there: it’s beautiful, it’s powerful and it’s a bit of the magic of television and well-made series.
Legion
Legion is the series that allows to turn the brain while showing how it happens in a brain turned over. David Haller, a mutant who believed himself schizophrenic, has powers that rival those of Professor X and a rather overflowing imagination. With a monster that looks like a giant potato with demon eyes and nonstop back and forth between its imagination and the real world, Legion completely drops out of reality and plunges us into crazy, colorful scenes and not really easy to understand To better see what happens in the most tortured brains.
sense8
Not as difficult as Legion to understand but a bit of mindfuck anyway, Sense8 is what brings the touch of poetry in all these series that turn our heads . Eight people who are part of a cluster , genetically connected, able to find themselves in two different places and feel the emotions of each other, that’s pitch. But between the wicked who can see through one of the characters, the dead sensates that reappear, the brain operations open and the discovery of a universe much bigger than we thought, we admit you are there Loses a little. But hey, it’s a bit like that also the charm of the series, right?
American Gods
All new beautiful! American Gods has just landed on Starz and is ready to confuse you. It must be said that adapting Neil Gaiman is rather daring and more when it comes to a fight of gods adapted to modern times, there is something to lose . An ugly god of technology and media is fighting against Odin, who is actually called Wednesday – Wednesday – aided by Lincoln of The 100 , all with leprechauns (?!) And in a bloodshed at the Tarantino Tinged with black humor well felt. As much to say that we wait impatiently the next episodes to see a little more clear …
Utopia
From mindfuck to English, because on the other side of the Channel we know how to think well too. Under its striking colors to hurt the eyes, Utopia mixes fiction and reality and we loses a little in between. It must be said that the series tells the story of a small group of people in possession of the manuscript of the Utopia sequel that would pre-empt any disasters that could affect humanity. Strange dystopia and major stakes, all sprinkled with the delusional touch of the English series , it is the perfect cocktail to make our neurons kiffer.
Westworld
Hard to talk about series that turn the brain without mentioning Westworld , the little HBO jewel that has given rise to so many theories that the writers had to take into account to write the rest of the series. Yes, when we propose a science fiction western thriller, we can already expect a particular mix of genres that makes us think and stimulates the imagination . At the same time with androids, simulations of universes and bugs to make cold in the back, difficult to expect anything else …
Obviously we can not talk about all the chelou series that prevent us from sleeping at night and we do not forget Black Mirror , The OA , Twin Peaks , Mr Robot or the blockbuster of strangeness: Lost . Do not hesitate to share the series that make you think for the best and sometimes for the worse. So, what series have you turned the brain back?
The post The mindfuck series that takes a long time to understand but which make think first appeared on The Siver Times.
