The series is like everything, sometimes we must persevere a little to discover their true value …
Sometimes when you watch a series, the magic operates from the first minutes and we find ourselves wanting to watch the barely finished pilot … And sometimes it’s a little the opposite, the first episode is slow, the characters are not Not very endearing, in short, we do not catch what. And yet, behind a failed driver often hide little nuggets next to which we almost passed . Many comedies are in this category since, typically, they are series based mainly on the characters, on their alchemy and their humor rather than on a thrilling plot. And it’s hard to appreciate them without attaching a minimum to them and finding them nice to laugh at their jokes, but it’s a complicated exercise in an episode, especially when it only lasts for about thirty minutes.
The Office US
A excellent series sometimes corresponds to a mediocre driver. Too close to the UK version, the very first episode of The Office presents us a Michael Scott heavy and not very funny ( if it changes in the sequel ) with jokes falling flat . Add to this some characters who do not always feel comfortable – like Dwight – and you get an episode that does not really want to watch next . And yet, after a difficult season, it is only happiness.
The 100
The apocalyptic shows also have their failures. With its plot inspired by Kass Morgan’s books, The 100 had a good foundation but introduced us in a clumsy way to a universe not always coherent and especially to cliché characters as possible. Teenagers stereotyped and unbearable, dialogues flat and predictable … Everything was combined to flee this series . Yet after the pilot, but especially after the first half of season 1, the characters evolve – and reflect – and the plot catches us up, phew.
Agents of SHIELD
We adore Phil Coulson and the whole world of the Avengers, difficult to hang on to the pilot of Agents of SHIELD. And for good reason, between his intrigue a little too already seen and his characters too smooth, the pilot is certainly not the best episode of the series . All categorized in a rigid role, May, Jemma, Fitz, Phil and the others are far from expressing their potential that one ends up discovering in the following episodes and this for our greatest happiness.
The L Word
It must be admitted that the pilot of The L Word plunges us directly into the mood, but perhaps a little too directly justly. Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane and all the little lesbian group in Los Angeles do not take tweezers and are almost more graphic than most episodes . Moreover, to see all this from the point of view of the ingenious Jenny who discovers this world by opening his eyes is a little cliché and does not honor a series that shows much more subtlety and complexity in the sequel.
Parks and Recreation
Like many comedies, the pilot of Parks and Rec is not really a success and has difficulty to seduce us with his clumsy characters and her atypical heroine. Leslie Knope is not shown in her best light and it will take a few episodes before realizing her charisma and intelligence . Season 1 is not the best but the rest of the series shows us the real source of inspiration that is Leslie, surrounded by a team as endearing as funny.
To these series which have not been helped by their pilot one can also add How I Met Your Mother with his laughs recorded which has passed as a pale copy of FRIENDS , or even FRIENDS herself who had not Quite seduced the critics at the time. Seinfeld suffered the same fate, as did 30Rock and his rough pilot. There is no need to say, politics in the American series, it is still much more sexy than what we saw on our screens in recent months during the presidential campaign. While we are all waiting for the verdict on this second round of the presidential election – and we wonder whether we will have to flee or not – we can not help but think that Everything would be better if we had a president like Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen) in The West Wing . Yes, the series have a little power to make everything more cool, including politics . In these difficult times, it is always good to remember that if we fail to understand politics in real life, we can find something to please us in the following series:
Designated Survivor
Designated Survivor is the novelty of ABC that came up with an innovative concept in the fall of 2016: and if we put someone who knows nothing at the head of the American government? Does this remind you of something ? Okay, Tom Kirkman (Keifer Sutherland) is far – far away – to look like the current US President and yet has knowledge of the matter. Having come to power because the entire American government died during the Capitol explosion, Kirkman is the idealist president that everyone needs in these uncertain times. Too bad we can not vote for him today!
Homeland
Conspiracy theory when you hold us! Homeland is a bit like that in the background, a season equals a plot and Carrie is the only one to see it coming. Bringing with her a critical look at American society and politics, Homeland fascinates us with ever more mindfuck intrigues that leave us speechless . There’s so much going on, we’re just about to apply for the CIA at every episode to see if it’s really going like that!
House of Cards
Unlike Tom Kirkman in Designated Survivor , we have Frank Underwood of House of Cards . Then it is clear that he will not hesitate to bump anyone who will get between him and his desire to be President – is not it Zoe? If one truly hopes that the intrigues of the series are exaggerated – because otherwise , to help – it’s a real kiff to see what Frank and Claire Underwood are doing to get to power and keep it.
Scandal
Who has never dreamed of having his own Olivia Pope to solve his everyday problems? The series of Shonda Rhimes immediately pleased us with her bad-ass heroine who leads the whole Washington – and especially the President of the United States – with the wand. The American comedy directed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus draws a satirical portrait of politics and makes us burst out laughing at each episode . Not only is Selina Meyer incompetent and totally egocentric, but she has a mastery of insults that exceed our wildest dreams, which does not spoil anything. Ahhhh, Homeland! Nobody gave much of the skin of the series after the death of Brody at the end of season 3. But it is clear that the show has more than one trick in his bag. Seasons 4 and 5 were great and with this start of season 6, Homeland takes us again short . The tension is palpable, the characters are jostled, the plot is exciting and you clearly feel like watching a new series. In short, we pull our hat at the show, which happens to renew each year! 6 / Gray’s Anatomy
After a fairly disappointing first part of season 13, Gray’s Anatomy raises the level like never before with its new episodes. To say goodbye to a series is always difficult, but the task is much simpler when the last episodes are just crazy. It feels like seeing The Vampire Diaries from the beginning, which surprised, shocked, moved us and even made us laugh . 2 / How to Get Away with Murder
HTGAWM struck again. This second part of the season – very dark – could be disconcerting at times, but Peter Nowalk’s show was not as successful from a psychological point of view of the characters. The revelation of the identity of the guilty party of the murder of one of the characters is almost in the background as the scenes brought by the others were incredible. Homeland Season 6: Episode 1, return to American soil, our critic of the premiere season

A few hours after the broadcast of the episode 1 of the season 6 of Homeland, discover our critic of the first season.
Finally ! After months of absence and waiting, Homeland was finally back last night on Showtime for a sixth season promised to be one of renewal, but by tapping into the nostalgia of viewers. It must be said that the show did not take place in the United States since the season 3 and this year we find Carrie in New York. Now our heroine has set up an organization that helps Muslims persecuted by the government. According to her and the figures, they would never have the right to a fair trial, since they are considered guilty from the moment they are suspected of being radicalized. This season premiere, entitled “Fair Game” , then we invite you to discover a new customer. We do not know yet whether it will be present throughout the season, but we imagine that the beginning of this case for Carrie is only the top of the iceberg.
Anyway, episode 1 of season 6 of Homeland already beginning to make us think. Is Sekou Bah a boy who has been radicalized? If there are many elements to suggest that yes (its website, its videos that can lead to violence because they excuse certain terrorist acts, etc.), we can nevertheless ask the question. Freedom of expression is important in the United States and many citizens of the country abuse it. But then, is Sekou guilty? We will have the answer, we imagine, in the coming weeks. Anyway, internal security will be at the heart of the plot this year. This is where the CIA will play an important role in Homeland . The series also introduced us the President of the USA who seems not to have his tongue in his pocket and who promises to be a key figure afterwards.
This first episode is a sympathetic mouthing, but maybe a little too light. More than a year after the end of season 5, we would probably have had to give a little more. The tension was not present enough, but we have faith in the writers. In any case, we may ask two questions: why Saul is sidelined at the end of the episode and especially, what was the point of bringing Peter Quinn back? Honestly, we do not yet see what role it will play in these new episodes. Season 6 of Homeland officially begins January 15 on Showtime but episode 1 is already available . Shameless US season 7: What can we expect from the next season?

Season 7 of Shameless US ended some time ago on Showtime. Discover what awaits the characters in season 8!
It’s official, the series Shameless US has been renewed for an eighth season – to our delight – so we’ll find Gallagher in new adventures in 2017. If one believes the tweet Emmy Rossum had posted to confirm that she would return in the next US Shameless season , filming is expected to resume in May. It is not yet known whether the series will be broadcast in the fall, as in season 7, or from January as in previous seasons. For once, the season ended rather well for the Gallagher family and it is said that we will start the next chapter on a healthier basis. The seventh season was that of maturity, it remains to be seen whether Fiona, Lip, Ian and the others will continue on this path or if new obstacles are going to cross their paths.
Fiona finally seems to have found her way and now she owns a building that she will have to renovate before being able to rent or resell. Shameless US season 7: Episode 12, farewell SPOILER, our critic of the final season

Last night, the American channel broadcast episode 12 of season 7 of Shameless US. Then discover our criticism of “Requiem for a Sl * t”, the final season.

It is in the final series of tunes Shameless US closed its seventh season. It starts as we all suspected, with the death of Monica. It is this event that will weigh on all episodes and offer us a final season where all the Gallagher children are united, and it feels good. After the disputes between the two, we find them a little more like at the beginning of the series, more mature. And if there is something you really enjoy with this season finale is that for once he ends on a note of hope for each of Gallagher . This final season therefore confirms once again that this season is the season of maturity and it is a pleasure to see how well his characters have evolved before our eyes for 7 years. Fortunately, we have just learned that Shameless US was renewed for season 8, as had been more or less announced Emmy Rossum , so we are not yet ready to leave Gallagher.
We see in particular the maturity of the Gallagher when they go from wanting to sell the drug left by their mother, ultimately no longer wanting. From the start, Fiona is against this idea and she also succeeds in hiding the drug where no one will seek it: in the coffin of Monica. Fiona is very present in this episode and it is very interesting to see how the death of her mother affects her. He went from being a drug dealer to a studious and committed student. The reunion made us warm in the heart, just like the scene where they all dance in the living room.
For his part, Lip continues to stand despite the hardships and difficulty of staying sober. He will seek advice from his sponsor, he goes to the appointments of alcoholics anonymous and he may even be able to recover with Sierra if he continues on this path. Moreover, in one of the last scenes, he talks about going back to university. There is no need to say, the Gallagher have come a long way. Debbie was somewhat backward in the last episodes, but that does not mean she did not grow up, since she went back to school and finally forgave Fiona. The series does not leave us on a big cliffhanger like last season , so it’s hard to know which directions will intrigue of season 8, but we hope the wheel will continue to turn in the right direction for them all.
