The series is like everything, sometimes we must persevere a little to discover their true value …
Sometimes when you watch a series, the magic operates from the first minutes and we find ourselves wanting to watch the barely finished pilot … And sometimes it’s a little the opposite, the first episode is slow, the characters are not Not very endearing, in short, we do not catch what. And yet, behind a failed driver often hide little nuggets next to which we almost passed . Many comedies are in this category since, typically, they are series based mainly on the characters, on their alchemy and their humor rather than on a thrilling plot. And it’s hard to appreciate them without attaching a minimum to them and finding them nice to laugh at their jokes, but it’s a complicated exercise in an episode, especially when it only lasts for about thirty minutes.
The Office US
A excellent series sometimes corresponds to a mediocre driver. Too close to the UK version, the very first episode of The Office presents us a Michael Scott heavy and not very funny ( if it changes in the sequel ) with jokes falling flat . Add to this some characters who do not always feel comfortable – like Dwight – and you get an episode that does not really want to watch next . And yet, after a difficult season, it is only happiness.
The 100
The apocalyptic shows also have their failures. With its plot inspired by Kass Morgan’s books, The 100 had a good foundation but introduced us in a clumsy way to a universe not always coherent and especially to cliché characters as possible. Teenagers stereotyped and unbearable, dialogues flat and predictable … Everything was combined to flee this series . Yet after the pilot, but especially after the first half of season 1, the characters evolve – and reflect – and the plot catches us up, phew.
Agents of SHIELD
We adore Phil Coulson and the whole world of the Avengers, difficult to hang on to the pilot of Agents of SHIELD. And for good reason, between his intrigue a little too already seen and his characters too smooth, the pilot is certainly not the best episode of the series . All categorized in a rigid role, May, Jemma, Fitz, Phil and the others are far from expressing their potential that one ends up discovering in the following episodes and this for our greatest happiness.
The L Word
It must be admitted that the pilot of The L Word plunges us directly into the mood, but perhaps a little too directly justly. Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane and all the little lesbian group in Los Angeles do not take tweezers and are almost more graphic than most episodes . Moreover, to see all this from the point of view of the ingenious Jenny who discovers this world by opening his eyes is a little cliché and does not honor a series that shows much more subtlety and complexity in the sequel.
Parks and Recreation
Like many comedies, the pilot of Parks and Rec is not really a success and has difficulty to seduce us with his clumsy characters and her atypical heroine. Leslie Knope is not shown in her best light and it will take a few episodes before realizing her charisma and intelligence . Season 1 is not the best but the rest of the series shows us the real source of inspiration that is Leslie, surrounded by a team as endearing as funny.
To these series which have not been helped by their pilot one can also add How I Met Your Mother with his laughs recorded which has passed as a pale copy of FRIENDS , or even FRIENDS herself who had not Quite seduced the critics at the time. Seinfeld suffered the same fate, as did 30Rock and his rough pilot. In short, we do not always succeed all at once, but it is not a reason to give up, a beautiful lesson that works both in life and for series! And you, which pilots did not convince you?
The post The first episode is bof but these series are worth gold first appeared on The Siver Times.

Is politics bored? These series may change your mind once you’ve looked at them!
There is no need to say, politics in the American series, it is still much more sexy than what we saw on our screens in recent months during the presidential campaign. While we are all waiting for the verdict on this second round of the presidential election – and we wonder whether we will have to flee or not – we can not help but think that Everything would be better if we had a president like Josiah Bartlet (Martin Sheen) in The West Wing . Yes, the series have a little power to make everything more cool, including politics . In these difficult times, it is always good to remember that if we fail to understand politics in real life, we can find something to please us in the following series:
Designated Survivor
Designated Survivor is the novelty of ABC that came up with an innovative concept in the fall of 2016: and if we put someone who knows nothing at the head of the American government? Does this remind you of something ? Okay, Tom Kirkman (Keifer Sutherland) is far – far away – to look like the current US President and yet has knowledge of the matter. Having come to power because the entire American government died during the Capitol explosion, Kirkman is the idealist president that everyone needs in these uncertain times. Too bad we can not vote for him today!
Homeland
Conspiracy theory when you hold us! Homeland is a bit like that in the background, a season equals a plot and Carrie is the only one to see it coming. Bringing with her a critical look at American society and politics, Homeland fascinates us with ever more mindfuck intrigues that leave us speechless . There’s so much going on, we’re just about to apply for the CIA at every episode to see if it’s really going like that!
House of Cards
Unlike Tom Kirkman in Designated Survivor , we have Frank Underwood of House of Cards . Then it is clear that he will not hesitate to bump anyone who will get between him and his desire to be President – is not it Zoe? If one truly hopes that the intrigues of the series are exaggerated – because otherwise , to help – it’s a real kiff to see what Frank and Claire Underwood are doing to get to power and keep it.
Scandal
Who has never dreamed of having his own Olivia Pope to solve his everyday problems? The series of Shonda Rhimes immediately pleased us with her bad-ass heroine who leads the whole Washington – and especially the President of the United States – with the wand. Ah, surely politics and those who practice it are much more sexy in Scandal than in reality, and it is not Olivia who will contradict us! With new machinations and tricks at every episode, you never know what to expect from the series – and that’s almost like in reality.
Veep
If there is a series that does not go by four ways to make fun of the American policy, it is Veep . The American comedy directed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus draws a satirical portrait of politics and makes us burst out laughing at each episode . Not only is Selina Meyer incompetent and totally egocentric, but she has a mastery of insults that exceed our wildest dreams, which does not spoil anything. We then take a cunning pleasure to follow his blunders and failures while reveling in the floodgates she sends to everyone.
The post These series that make us almost kiffer the politics first appeared on The Siver Times.

The month of February was loaded on American television! Between returns and launches, there was something for everyone. But what series stand out? Discover it with our Top of the Month!
2017 has clearly started on the hats, the meltynauts! It must be said that the writers seem to have given themselves for all the series. We are not going to hide it the Top Series of February was quite difficult to establish, as the quality of the episodes diffused was general. However, we found common ground and we were able to list the 10 series that have marked the last 28 days on television . There is a medical series, a family drama, and even a series of espionage. Are you ready ? So let’s go !
10 / Big Little Lies
Launched on HBO a week ago, Big Little Lies proved to be a quality series from its pilot. With the second episode aired on Sunday night, David E. Kelley’s series featuring Shailene Woodley, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon showed she was not there to joke. We are dealing here with very serious, sometimes disturbing subjects and all that, against a background of murder . In short, we can advise you to put yourself in Big Little Lies, whose first season will be composed of 7 episodes.
9 / The Mick
At melty, we rarely talk about comedy, but we would not do our job properly if The Mick was not in this top! The series is a real television nugget. Each episode is frankly hilarious and what is good is that the actors seem to have fun to shoot and it feels! And good news for the fans of the series: The Mick was renewed for a season 2. What to install properly in his chair so binge watcher quietly the first season.
8 / The 100
After a disappointing third season, The 100 was back at the beginning of the month for his fourth chapter. Four episodes later, the results are very positive and one gets the impression that the writers have learned from their past mistakes . The tension within the different clans is present more than ever and it is particularly interesting to see how each character reacts while he knows himself condemned. A war is brewing in episode 5 of season 4 of The 100 and so much you say that a bloodbath is just two fingers to occur. Enjoy!
7 / Homeland
Ahhhh, Homeland! Nobody gave much of the skin of the series after the death of Brody at the end of season 3. But it is clear that the show has more than one trick in his bag. Seasons 4 and 5 were great and with this start of season 6, Homeland takes us again short . The tension is palpable, the characters are jostled, the plot is exciting and you clearly feel like watching a new series. In short, we pull our hat at the show, which happens to renew each year! Well done, guys!
6 / Gray’s Anatomy
After a fairly disappointing first part of season 13, Gray’s Anatomy raises the level like never before with its new episodes. The story of Alex now settled, the show can now focus on the war that takes place within the hospital between Minnick and the incumbents. Taking sides is risky and some characters find themselves in the middle of the battlefield. Once again, Gray’s Anatomy proves that we can surprise after more than twelve years of antenna and for that reason, the series of Shonda Rhimes deserves its place in our Top!
5 / Scandal
We believed more, but she did! Scandal, who has suffered many scenario failures in recent seasons, has succeeded in a coup de maître: to propose in season 6 episodes of a very good level. It’s like going back to the good old days of season 2. The assassination of Vargas was a great idea that redistributed the cards and today we are witnessing a particularly intense game of power . In short, we love this start of the season and we hope that the next 12 episodes will be just as successful! In fact, episode 5 of season 6 of Scandal will be released on March 9 on ABC.
4 / The Walking Dead
Everyone agrees: after his season 7 premiere, The Walking Dead disappointed. But we can only applaud the beginning of the second part of the season that unites everything we love in the series: danger, zombies, confrontations, reunion, emotion and tension. With the war between our heroes and the Saviors, we can only be excited by what lies ahead, and frankly we are impatient with the idea of seeing blood flowing to the Sanctuary. One thing is certain: the end of the season looks explosive and we can already launch bets on who will die and especially how!
3 / The Vampire Diaries
To say goodbye to a series is always difficult, but the task is much simpler when the last episodes are just crazy. It must be said that for this last chapter of the adventures of the Salvatore and their loved ones, Julie Plec and all her team surpassed. It feels like seeing The Vampire Diaries from the beginning, which surprised, shocked, moved us and even made us laugh . So yes, the final series is fast approaching, but we can only be happy that the show ends on a nice note!
2 / How to Get Away with Murder
HTGAWM struck again. This second part of the season – very dark – could be disconcerting at times, but Peter Nowalk’s show was not as successful from a psychological point of view of the characters. The revelation of the identity of the guilty party of the murder of one of the characters is almost in the background as the scenes brought by the others were incredible. The time will be particularly long before the season 4, but not serious, we will do the first three seasons in the biggest calm.
1 / Riverdale
This month, our number 1 series is Riverdale, recently launched on the CW. My god this show is enjoyable. We were eagerly waiting to discover a new teen-show that would make us vibrate as Gossip Girl was able to do in its beginnings and it is a successful mission for Riverdale . The series contains all the ingredients of an exciting series: a murder, mysteries, secrets, a disturbing little town, tension, lies, sex, scandal … in short, Riverdale is THE series of the month of February. And good news: it is available on Netflix! So you have no excuse for not going to discover it (if not already done)! And you, what series have you worshiped this month?
The post The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, Riverdale, Scandal … Our Top Series of February 2017! first appeared on The Siver Times.

After months of absence and waiting, Homeland was finally back last night on Showtime for a sixth season promised to be one of renewal, but by tapping into the nostalgia of viewers. It must be said that the show did not take place in the United States since the season 3 and this year we find Carrie in New York. Now our heroine has set up an organization that helps Muslims persecuted by the government. According to her and the figures, they would never have the right to a fair trial, since they are considered guilty from the moment they are suspected of being radicalized. This season premiere, entitled “Fair Game” , then we invite you to discover a new customer. We do not know yet whether it will be present throughout the season, but we imagine that the beginning of this case for Carrie is only the top of the iceberg.
Anyway, episode 1 of season 6 of Homeland already beginning to make us think. Is Sekou Bah a boy who has been radicalized? If there are many elements to suggest that yes (its website, its videos that can lead to violence because they excuse certain terrorist acts, etc.), we can nevertheless ask the question. Freedom of expression is important in the United States and many citizens of the country abuse it. But then, is Sekou guilty? We will have the answer, we imagine, in the coming weeks. Anyway, internal security will be at the heart of the plot this year. This is where the CIA will play an important role in Homeland . The series also introduced us the President of the USA who seems not to have his tongue in his pocket and who promises to be a key figure afterwards.
This first episode is a sympathetic mouthing, but maybe a little too light. More than a year after the end of season 5, we would probably have had to give a little more. The tension was not present enough, but we have faith in the writers. In any case, we may ask two questions: why Saul is sidelined at the end of the episode and especially, what was the point of bringing Peter Quinn back? Honestly, we do not yet see what role it will play in these new episodes. It is hoped that the writers have not concocted a small plot on addiction and PTSD, which have been seen and reviewed in other shows. Answer next week in episode 2 of season 6 of Homeland . What did you think of this first season?
The post Homeland Season 6: Episode 1, return to American soil, our critic of the premiere season first appeared on The Siver Times.

If you’ve seen the episode, entitled “Fair Game” , or that you have followed the spoilers and seen the promotional videos of the new season of Homeland, you are aware that Rupert Friend reprized his role of Peter Quinn . Yet in a more critical state at the end of season 5 after a sarin gas attack, it seems that Peter Quinn got away – still with many sequels. Here then the explanations of Alex Gansa gave the US website Entertainment Weekly about the choice to keep his character: “It’s at the end of last season that I suggested to [Friend] that there were chance that survive ” , explained the showrunner. The goal is then to show the character’s life after he survived the sarin gas and a whole bunch of other horrors related to the war.
“One of our very first ideas [Howard Gordon] and I had when we talked about Homeland was that there was no television series that brought to the screen the return of Iraqi soldiers and Afganistan. and now so we can really look a victim of the war against terrorism ” , added Alex Gansa. The character of Quinn is going to take over after that of Brody – who was an example of beginning of what we saw after fighting there. Rupert Friend, who plays Peter Quinn on the screen, also spoke on the topic: “Homeland is something I do not think I saw on TV before, where you have a character in season 6 and is simply unrecognizable from previous seasons ” . Besides, if you’ve ever seen the first episode, it’s certainly the impression you’ve had of it. While waiting to learn more about the future of Quinn, know that you can find the trailer for Season 6 of Homeland on melty. If one believes the tweet Emmy Rossum had posted to confirm that she would return in the next US Shameless season , filming is expected to resume in May. It is not yet known whether the series will be broadcast in the fall, as in season 7, or from January as in previous seasons. For once, the season ended rather well for the Gallagher family and it is said that we will start the next chapter on a healthier basis. The seventh season was that of maturity, it remains to be seen whether Fiona, Lip, Ian and the others will continue on this path or if new obstacles are going to cross their paths.
Fiona finally seems to have found her way and now she owns a building that she will have to renovate before being able to rent or resell. Since the building belongs to him, you wonder if the elder Gallagher will take the opportunity to move from the family home to settle in one of the apartments . For its part, Lip has finally decided to stop drinking air – even if it is already what we thought at the end of last season . It will be a perpetual battle for him, but we know he can count on the support of his family. Moreover, it is hoped that he will continue his idea of wanting to resume his studies and return to university, but also that Sierra will really give him a chance. The young woman has a good influence on him. Ian had to say goodbye to the love of his life this season, when Mickey fled to Mexico after escaping from prison. Will he reconcile with Trevor in Season 8 Shameless US ? One hopes in any case because his character, besides being particularly interesting, is adorable and we love the couple he formed with Ian.
As for Debbie, we are pleased to see that she has finally forgiven Fiona and is making decisions about her future. Her idea of resuming classes to find work proves that we gradually find the Debbie we love so much. Moreover, we should see if it will follow through and marry Neil . One imagines that Carl will continue his education at the military school. It is true that we see his character much less these last two seasons, but it is certainly because the actor wants to have a normal education next to the series. In any case, we really like what his character is becoming, and we can not wait to see what happens next. Liam started speaking this season, and with his entrance to school, it is hoped that this means he will soon have a real plot. Kev and Veronica have experienced highs and lows this season, maybe we will continue to see how they survive without the Alibi and after the Svetlana shenanigans. Finally, it is always hard to know what is going to happen to Frank as these plots are crazy and unpredictable, but it is certain that the death of Monica will change it. While waiting to learn more, know that our criticism of the episode 12 of Season 7 Shameless US is still available on melty. What do you expect from Shameless US season 8?
The post Shameless US season 7: What can we expect from the next season? first appeared on The Siver Times.

Last night, the American channel broadcast episode 12 of season 7 of Shameless US. Then discover our criticism of “Requiem for a Sl * t”, the final season.

It is in the final series of tunes Shameless US closed its seventh season. It starts as we all suspected, with the death of Monica. It is this event that will weigh on all episodes and offer us a final season where all the Gallagher children are united, and it feels good. After the disputes between the two, we find them a little more like at the beginning of the series, more mature. And if there is something you really enjoy with this season finale is that for once he ends on a note of hope for each of Gallagher . This final season therefore confirms once again that this season is the season of maturity and it is a pleasure to see how well his characters have evolved before our eyes for 7 years. Fortunately, we have just learned that Shameless US was renewed for season 8, as had been more or less announced Emmy Rossum , so we are not yet ready to leave Gallagher.
We see in particular the maturity of the Gallagher when they go from wanting to sell the drug left by their mother, ultimately no longer wanting. From the start, Fiona is against this idea and she also succeeds in hiding the drug where no one will seek it: in the coffin of Monica. Fiona is very present in this episode and it is very interesting to see how the death of her mother affects her. If the elder of the Gallagher is not sad, it brings up all the bad memories of his childhood, which will certainly never heal. It is said in every episode – or almost – but Emmy Rossum is still masterful in this episode . When is a recognition for his formidable work? (#AnEmmyForEmmy) Furthermore, Carl was back in this episode, and it’s certainly one that has changed the most over the past two seasons. He went from being a drug dealer to a studious and committed student. The reunion made us warm in the heart, just like the scene where they all dance in the living room.
For his part, Lip continues to stand despite the hardships and difficulty of staying sober. He will seek advice from his sponsor, he goes to the appointments of alcoholics anonymous and he may even be able to recover with Sierra if he continues on this path. Moreover, in one of the last scenes, he talks about going back to university. There is no need to say, the Gallagher have come a long way. Debbie was somewhat backward in the last episodes, but that does not mean she did not grow up, since she went back to school and finally forgave Fiona. The series does not leave us on a big cliffhanger like last season , so it’s hard to know which directions will intrigue of season 8, but we hope the wheel will continue to turn in the right direction for them all. While waiting to know more, know that you can always read our review of episode 11 of Season 7 Shameless US on melty.
