After seeing one, one can not help but dream of being in, so much the atmosphere is joyous, and so they make us the light heart. With their touching love stories, their hopeful messages, their heady songs and their catchy dances, they make us a little escape from reality, and that’s why we love them so much. La La Land, you can discover our criticism is to it, but first there were plenty of others. What if it was just an opportunity to plunge into it? For you, melty has listed (not exhaustively, of course) the five best musicals we have been given to see the movies.
red Mill
Not everyone is a fan of Baz Luhrmann, but the director has talent when it comes to being exuberant. And what better than the Paris of the Belle Époque and especially its mythical cabaret to illustrate it? With Moulin Rouge! , We are spoiled. Paris is sublimated and Nicole Kidman is absolutely sublime in mutine Satine. All to the sound of Queen songs, Madonna, Elton John, Nirvana and David Bowie, which harmonize perfectly with the scenery 1900 But what we also like and especially in Moulin Rouge! Is his love story, gorgeous, although tragic , between a penniless poet, Christian, played by the talented Satine and Ewan McGregor, star of the prestigious Parisian cabaret. Of those that make you shed a little tear.
Grease
We revert on moral rather outdated in history: “If a guy does not like you, completely changes your way of being” . Despite this, Grease is still a staple of the musical. The guilty pleasure, we look really just to gloat at the end stage, when Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) becomes a bad girl, swapping its blue flowers dresses for a leather jacket, satin combination ultra-slinky black and bright red shoes . An entrance we girls, probably all dream of doing – it is for that reason that during the costumed evenings, there is always one disguised in this way. Accompanied by the song “You’re the One That I want” is even better.
Let’s sing in the rain
“I’m singin ‘in the rain, Just singin’ in the rain. What a glorious feeling, I’m happy again! ” On its own, the scene in which Gene Kelly dancing in the rain falls in the pantheon of Hollywood musicals . But the rest of the film by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly is no less mythical. Between the tap and the perfectly executed acrobatics, catchy songs, the beautiful romance of Don Lockwood and Lina Lemont, colorful costumes or the humor and joy of life emanating, Singing in the Rain is the kind of movie that One never tires of watching. Moreover, La La Land is in much inspiration! All the more reason to see him again without further delay.
Mary Poppins
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! We do not see too many other terms to describe the musical that has lulled our childhood at all. The good mood and the wonderful world of Mary Poppins still resonate in us today. And if the film has a little bit aged in terms of special effects – and even worse – the music numbers remain dazzling. The dance of chimney sweeps in the song of the bank, through the touching “Feeding the p ‘tits birds” and of course the impossible “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” , we never tire of this enchanting hymn to childhood . We look forward also to be in 2018 to delve into his new adventures, with Emily Blunt in the lead role !
A stormy night, Janet’s car and Brad, a stuck couple who just got engaged, breaks down. Obliged to take refuge in a mysterious castle, they meet their occupants at least bizarre, who engage in strange experiences. And yet, the adjectives “bizarre” and “weird” are not strong enough to describe The Rocky Horror Picture Show . Real UFO film is completely delusional, causing, wish to kitsch, in short, completely blocked! A sort of parodic tribute to science fiction, horror and B-series films, the whole, carried by an equally crazy BO. First criticized on its release in 1975, it has since become cult. Even today, the film is still broadcast in many capitals of the world. If you have not seen it yet, it’s time for you “to give an absolute pleasure” , as Frank puts it. And you, what musical do you prefer
The post Mary Poppins, Grease, Moulin Rouge! … The best musical comedies in the cinema first appeared on The Siver Times.

Whether on billboards or on television, you do not miss the promotional poster of La La Land or the success of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone at the Golden Globes. Praised by the US media, the new feature film by Damien Chazelle is already described as the film of the year 2017. If xXx Reactivated or All on Stage will also mark this January , we wondered if any this hype around La La Land was really necessary? Before delivering our review of the film, the editor of melty wanted to share with you his rather mixed feel before entering the projection room. We are not going to lie, music movies, there have been several in recent years and stories of love, we all know. Moulin Rouge , Mamma Mia or Hairspray … La La Land it would be a pale copy of these feature films? The lights go out, the silence is done and there we are propelled to the very heart of this city that never sleeps: Los Angeles.
Within a few minutes, the tone is given. The first moments transport us and the good humor takes hold of the room. So yes, we will discover a musical with the unstoppable duo Gosling / Stone, but the two actors can they really make us forget Crazy, Stupid, Love or Gangsta Squad ? The answer is yes. In La La Land , we discover the profile of two dreamers , Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling). On the one hand, we find this young barista who serves cafes in the movie studios and who chains the castings to become an actress. On the other hand, we discover the profile of this outstanding pianist but broke that dream of only one thing, open a jazz bar. These two destinies intersect, tear, but above all, love each other. The director of Whiplash was able to transcribe the details screen that everyone learns to perceive love. But then he can their relationship really have a place in their dreams?
Obviously, you will have to go to the dark rooms to find out. We may repeat meltynautes, but we really want to emphasize that La La Land is a film for dreamers, you know, those people who are desperate to reach their ultimate goal and have the hope of get there. And who better than Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone to stage characters as moving and addictive Sebastian and Mia and what is more, in a dazzling decor? The director Damien Chazelle, clearly written a love letter to Los Angeles with La La Land . Whether with the endless corks of the Californian city, the mythical pontoon or the hidden bars, LA has never been so valued. The end clap resounds and a few minutes are needed to get back from this awakened dream. If Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling radiate into La La Land , the play of light and staging are the point of honor of the film. La La Land, which approximates the stars with its 14 Oscar nominations, released this Wednesday, January 25th in cinemas, so you know what to do!
The post The Land: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the masterpiece not to be missed, our critic! first appeared on The Siver Times.
