After Mark Wahlberg, it’s Laura Haddock, who plays Vivian, one of the new female characters in Transformers 5: The Last Knight, to answer our questions!
Who says ” new opus ” of the franchise Transformers says ” new characters “. Of course! And this time, it is especially on the side of female roles that we must look to find a little renewal. Vivian and Izabella, who are part of the new protagonists introduced in Transformers 5: The Last Knight , occupy two places left by Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz), Cade’s daughter party exploring other horizons. And today, it is Vivian that interests us. Or rather his actress, Laura Haddock, who, having played Meredith Quill in the two films of the Guardians of the Galaxy , arrives on the same level in the impressive world of the blockbuster! Especially as Vivian, Professor of medieval history at the university, is also immersed in the action alongside Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and the Autobots. So, of course, the shoot had to be both physical and … stunning! Melty was able to interview the actress to ask her about the film, her character and her collaboration with Michael Bay.
You played in The Guardians of the Galaxy but you had a small role. So, what is it like to be on the set of a movie as huge as Transformers 5: The Last Knight when you’re not used to it?
Yes, it was huge! When I arrived for my first day on the set, I suddenly realized how huge it was. But it quickly becomes your daily life. Everyone welcomed me warmly and we quickly come to form a family, especially when we are far from home. But even then, there were days when I had to pinch myself and say to myself, ” My God, it’s just huge! ”
Is there a particular moment that marked you more than the others?
Yes, I remember that enormous platform that was used in Detroit, which was raised by pumps and stilts and that one could tilt on one side or the other according to the scene that Michael [Bay] wanted to film. Michael enjoyed filming at a specific time of day, when the sun was very low in the sky and the light was beautiful, and he quickly made us climb onto the platform and propelled us towards the sky. And I remember watching the city of Detroit, watching the sun go down and watching the movie team, and I remember thinking, ” Wow, it’s really amazing! ” I have a few memories of this kind, but this one is really the first one I keep in mind.
What attracted you to the character of Vivian? His rejection of convenience?
When I read the script and discovered Vivian, I was very interested in the fact that this character exists in the film. Because there are all these robots, all these explosions, and all the crazy things that happen around the Transformers and, in the middle, there is this English professor who specializes in medieval history and is so well educated. She is strong and independent, and she is very happy to be single. And she finds herself in the middle of it all! I was really intrigued to see how these two elements would get married to each other. And of course, it is a necessary element to safeguard the world. And it’s great! I think it’s important to have a female character who is very strong, as strong as the men in the film.
Vivian is going through a lot of hardships in the film, did you have to realize some of the stunts of your character yourself?
Yes ! Michael likes his actors to do some of their own stunts. If we think we can do it, then he wants us to do it. I worked closely with my liner, Jessica Harbeck, who is absolutely incredible and without which I could not have achieved half of my stunts. She guided me through all the steps. But I loved realizing my stunts! I’ve become addicted to it because it gives you such an adrenaline shot. I was able to learn a lot of other abilities, we did so much stuff with harnesses that I felt like I was constantly harnessed to something and swinging endlessly at a wire. But I loved it! Cade Yeager is back in Transformers 5: The Last Knight! And he is again incarnated by Mark Wahlberg, who kindly answered some of our questions!
And yes, it happened, with its shiny robots and action scenes full of noise and fury! Transformers 5: The Last Knight has landed today in our dark rooms, bringing with him his sympathetic Autobots but with well-tempered characters (eh, Hound?), His Decepticons much less warm and his human heroes tossed as their Dantesques clashes . And, above all, this fifth installment allows us to plunge into the mythology of the Transformers – which is one of the reasons to go see the film ! – by telling us their past, from the time of King Arthur to the present day through the Second World War. Fortunately, in the midst of all this and all this unbridled action, there is Cade Yeager, the hero of the previous opus, back to save the world . Literally. Mark Wahlberg takes up the role of the inventor, confronted with a universe that he has tame but whose mysteries he still does not know. On the occasion of the release of Transformers 5: The Last Knight , the editor of melty was able to talk with the actor on this second experience in the saga!

This is the second Transformers movie you make. What convinced you to come back?
Michael Bay! The first time I worked with Michael Bay, it was on the movie No Pain No Gain and I had a great time. We had enjoyed working together, so he asked me if I wanted to join him and play in the next Transformers . We shot The Age of Extinction and after that we made The Last Knight .
What was your experience of filming, compared to the previous Transformers? Has it been very different?
Yeah, well, I mean, I knew what to expect. I knew it was going to be even bigger, harder. You know, I was getting older, and it was physically more demanding. Michael Bay likes to be really involved, to do stunts and stuff. But I knew what to expect.
You’ve worked with Michael Bay three times now. Did your collaboration evolve during these three films?
Yes, of course, now we know each other well. He trusts me completely and I have total confidence and faith in him. He lets me do a little what I want to develop my character and to own it. We understand each other very easily, he just has to take a look at me and I know that means that I can let go.
You said that Michael Bay wanted you to do some of your stunts yourself. Can you give us some examples?
Everything we do in the film, we do it partly ourselves at one time or another. We have harnesses, spinning-rooms, I also made this waterfall with the drone that flies … All that, we do it.
In Transformers 4, Cade was motivated by the idea of protecting her daughter. Now that she’s gone, what motivates her? How has his relationship with the Autobots changed?
His faith in Optimus has not faltered, even if Optimus has gone over to the dark side. And I think he’s always motivated by the idea that whatever he does he does for his daughter and for good reasons. Let him do what is right. I think for him to go on the run and leave his daughter behind was for his own good, so that she could reintegrate into society and live a normal life. And when he finds himself projected into this whole new universe, he tries above all simply to do what is right. He is a very noble guy but he also prides himself on being smart and respected. And when he finds herself projected in all these different situations with the character of Laura [Haddock], it gets really funny. What do you think of the character of Mark Wahlberg?

Are you ready for the return of the Autobots and Decepticons? Because here are 3 reasons to visit Transformers 5: The Last Knight, which lands today on our screens!
And here, fans of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will be happy! For today is Transformers 5: The Last Knight at the cinema, with its procession of Autobots ready to do anything to defend humanity and angry Decepticons. Better yet, the film gives us the opportunity to know what happened to Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), still on the run, and Optimus Prime, exploring space in search of its creators. And once again, the inventor and the leader of the Autobots, accompanied by all his faithful, must once again save the world from a terrible threat. Because, as the final trailer of Transformers 5: The Last Knight unveiled , the war between the two worlds is raging and there will be breakage . A lot, a lot of breakage! Optimus Prime turns to the dark side
We’re not going to lie, the TRUE hero of the Transformers franchise is Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. Noble and dignified, always ready to protect humans and never during interventions supposed to galvanize his companions, Optimus is the cornerstone on which rested all the films until now. Except that in Transformers 5: The Last Knight , Optimus moves on to the dark side and becomes a threat to the very people it has been protecting . In other words, it changes a bit of the character we know! What desacralize a little the figure of the robot, which tended to become a little pompous over time. Or not. The film offers us the opportunity to discover that, yes, the Transformers have always been present on Earth , from the time of King Arthur to our days, passing of course by participation in World War II. Fans of Bumblebee, in this regard, will be delighted! And, It should not be forgotten that we will finally get to know the famous creators of the Transformers and even set foot on Cybertron. More spectacular than its predecessors

New characters will appear in Transformers 5: The Last Knight alongside Cade. So, we decided to present the three most important!
Nothing goes in the world of the Transformers ! In fact, nothing has been going on for a little while, in fact Autobots and Decepticons having become frankly persona non grata since the end of the third opus of the franchise, The Face of the Moon . But this is worse and worse! Optimus Prime disappeared to go in search of its creators, Bumblebee, Hound and the rest of the Autobots hide, to escape the humans who would like to dismember them piece by piece. Fortunately, they can count on Cade Yaeger (Mark Wahlberg) to protect them and, above all, help them save the world from a new threat! And, good news, Cade is not alone to have chosen to join the camp of the Autobots . By his side, We can find a skewer of new characters come to spin a hand. As the release of Transformers: The Last Knight is fast approaching, we said to Melty that it was time to do more with three of them, namely Vivian (Laura Haddock), Izabella ( Isabela Moner ) And Sir Edmund Burton (Anthony Hopkins)!
Izabella
Younger but also tougher than the previous female roles of the franchise, Izabella made her choice. Between the Autobots and the humans, it will always prefer to rank side of the first rather than the second . It must be said that the girl no longer has large people to turn to, her parents being dead. Having lived partly on the street since the events narrated in the third opus, Izabella thus placed under the protection of an Autobot, as revealed to us another extract of Transformers 5: The Last Knight . But she also took under her wing the adorable Sqweeks, tiny turquoise Autobot that follows her everywhere. Then she crosses the path of Cade and will find herself also embarked in its quest to save the world.
Vivian Wembley
We continue with Vivian Wembley, a young woman with a strong temper and who does not let her do. Yet, at first glance, the latter does not seem to have the build of a badass heroine who usually slalom between Transformers in full battle for his morning sports session! Professor of English literature at Oxford University, British to the nail, Vivian probably never even crossed the path of a single Transformer in his life . Moreover, it is enough to see the extract of Transformers 5: The Last Knight in which one discovers Hot Rod to realize that all this is … very new for her. But his knowledge of the legend of King Arthur could prove very useful for Cade Yaeger, The mythical ruler of Camelot having himself crossed the path of robots from Cybertron. Edmund Burton
And here comes the turn of Sir Edmund Burton, a mysterious personage who, in the midst of the turmoil, lives in peace in his English manor. Transformers 5 – The Last Knight: Mark Wahlberg and the Autobots ready to fight on the first official photos

Because we know that you are too excited to discover Transformers 5: The Last Knight in the movies, we share with you the first official photos of the film.
On June 28th, the Transformers saga will be back with Transformers 5: The Last Knight and all the ingredients that have made the success of the franchise so far: explosions in abundance, scenes of mass destruction, battles between Autobots and Decepticons, Giant ships, heroes and badass girls! But this fifth component will also be very different and that is why we expect it as much. Yes, while in Transformers 4, Cade Yeager (Mark Walhberg) could rely on Optimus Prime, the latter is this time the cause of all his worries. The leader of the Autobots has indeed gone over to the dark side of the Force and decided to declare war on Earth, as we saw in the final trailer of Transformers 5: The Last Knight . Fortunately, Cade could still count on Bumblebee, as well as a British Lord named Sir Edmund Burton, played by Anthony Hopkins , and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock). And he will clearly need it because this war promises to be destructive! But we do not worry too much about Cade Yeager. One only has to see it in full action on the first official photos of the film to see that the hero is him.
The second official photo of Transformers 5: The Last Knight highlights a new ally for the Autobots. We have already seen this last in a first excerpt with Izabella (Isabela Moner) , a girl with a strong character and courage to resell. In this excerpt, Izabella and a group of children flee what looks like a drone, in the streets of Chicago. The band then finds refuge under a heap of rubble which actually turns out to be … an Autobot stayed there since the end of the war and which ended up blending into the scenery ! So far we have not heard too much about it, this Autobot whose name we do not know intrigues us. It is not yet clear what will be his role in this new war, but one thing is certain, This Autobot will be there to protect Izabella, Cade and Company and surely fight against Optimus Prime, alongside Bumblebee, other Autobots and Dinobots. Transformers 5 The Last Knight: 24 unreleased minutes unveiled!

At an exceptional event, 24 unprecedented minutes of Transformers 5: The Last Knight were unveiled to hundreds of fans. Here is a summary of what we saw.
Being a fan of something, it’s still good! And it is not those of the saga Transformers that will contradict us. This week, Paramount studios have organized events in several cities, including Paris, around Transformers 5: The Last Knight for fans of the franchise. And beware, it was not about any events! In reality, it is almost 25 minutes of videos and unpublished images that the studios have presented , history to make us better acquainted with the two new heroines of this opus, namely the young Izabella (Isabela Moner) and Vivian Wembley (Laura Haddock). And to introduce us also some new Autobots! Fortunately for those who could not attend this event, the editor of melty, who was present, is there to give you a little recap ‘of the content of this long video. After a short filmed introduction of Michael Bay, whose Transformers 5: The Last Knight should be the last film in the saga as a director, we were immediately immersed in action. Warning, spoilers!
And we began by making a jump in time since we found ourselves projected in the days of Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Plunged into battle, the king and his men wait for Merlin – who obviously has a reputation for alcohol – who is late. It must be said that the magician, a bottle in his hand, wanders a little in the mountain where he discovers … sorts of spears coming obviously from Cybertron . And somewhat disturbing detail, these are covered with blood. But before we could learn more about it, we were sent to the space where we found Optimus Prime, drifting into the dark immensity while claiming forgiveness from its creators. Following the video we were taken to the destroyed streets of Chicago where a group of children was hunted down by warlike robots. Fortunately, Izabella and Sqweeks, the new little Autobot, are there to save them ! If you’ve seen the excerpt from Transformers 5: The Last Knight, in which Izabella is saved by an Autobot , then you know what we’re talking about. It is clear that the girl has close ties with the machines coming from space. Cade Yaeger (Mark Wahlberg) arrives with Bumblebee to help the children.
Cade, moreover, who is clearly not at the end of his troubles! Because in another excerpt, while he is chased by strange drones, he crosses the path of Cogman , a new Autobot, a kind of mix in C-3PO and K-2SO with sharp tongue and amazing reflexes. His mission is to lead Cade to Sir Edmund Burton, a historian versed in the history of the Transformers and their interactions with the Earth played by Anthony Hopkins and who resides in a huge mansion. And this one has some big revelations to make us! But before that, comes an Autobot in the form of a vehicle which ejects a young woman visibly shaken. This one is none other than Vivian Wembley, also historian, that Edmund hopes to see team with Cade in order to … to save the world. Cade would have been chosen by the medalist Transformers who owns Edmund Burton, who wraps around his arm, proof that our hero is indeed a kind of elected. But more intriguing yet, the Edmund mansion is actually built around the famous Round Table! And the old historian asks this question very pertinent to Cade: why do the Transformers always return to Earth since the dawn of time?
The following images brought us back to the past, where Arthur and his Knights clink to victory and a fruitful alliance with … three immense Autobots holding swords. Proof that machines from space have to be linked to humanity from time immemorial. The end of the video then offered us a sequence of images and extracts all more impressive than the others. We saw Autobots confronting Decepticons, Transformers emerging from the water, ships crashing on Earth and Cade, Vivian and Izabella caught in the midst of a huge battle. In short, a real maelstrom of images that ended however on a passage that should shock the biggest fans of the saga: Bumblebee and Optimus Prime colliding violently during a tough fight . What to remind us once again that Optimus Prime has changed a lot, like a poster of Transformers 5: The Last Kinght had teased us … These few excerpts of the film, if they did not allow us to learn Much more about his plot, however demonstrated one thing: this fifth opus appears visually very impressive and plans to extend greatly the mythology of the saga .
