PARIS | The intensification of conflicts and the persistent drought in several regions of the world have pushed up to 124 million the number of people considered to be at the mercy of a famine at the end of 2017, an increase of 15 % compared to the previous year, according to an estimate by the united nations and the european Union published on Thursday.
In 2016, the same report was estimated at 108 million the number of people in the world face severe food insecurity, and in 2015 to $ 80 million.
