4th alarm in Saint-Sauveur
A fierce fire called for a fourth alarm Wednesday night in Quebec City.
A little after 10 pm, the fire was raging near 522 rue des Oblats, near Saint-Luc Street, in the Saint-Sauveur district.
The high risk of spreading has prompted the firefighters to request reinforcement. The fight is carried out by the roof, as well as inside the walls.
The proximity of the old buildings makes us fear the worst. Citizens have been evacuated and an important quadrilateral is plunged into the dark due to a voluntary cut in electricity supply. The firefighters confirmed that there were no injuries.
The deployment is very important and the number of curious people around the perimeter cause some problems to the authorities. The damage will be very high. The exact cause of the fire remains to be determined.
East of Marie-de-l’Incarnation, traffic lights do not work in the early night.
At the height of the disaster, about 70 firefighters were fighting the flames. The police officers of the SPVQ, Hydro-Québec, Gaz Métro and the RTC are also on site.
At least five people have been evacuated but the Red Cross is struggling to locate people in need as several other tenants are outside to observe the scene.
