Passengers exposed to measles on an Air Canada flight

BRAMPTON, Ontario | travellers that took place in an Air Canada flight making the connection between Zurich, Switzerland and Toronto in the past week have been exposed to measles, authorities said the health of the region of Peel.

The passengers on the flight 879 of Air Canada, who left Zurich at 10h27 to land in Toronto at 14h12 on the 12th of February, have been exposed to a young child of Brampton who had contracted the disease.

“Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads quickly among people who are not immunized or who are vulnerable. Children under one year, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems who were on the flight 879 should immediately contact the Peel public health”, explained the agency in a press release.

Travelers who were simply Toronto Pearson airport during the passage of the sick child are not at risk.

By contrast, the passengers who were on board the Air Canada flight should ensure that they are well immunised against measles. They will also need to be on the lookout for the appearance of symptoms of the disease for three weeks, including fever, sensitivity to light, pimples in the mouth, itching and coughing.

The organization is asking people who believe they have contracted the disease to call a clinic before going on-site to avoid contaminating other patients.
