Sexual assault at royal military College Saint-Jean: a soldier from Petawawa to the bench of the accused

    A member of Petawawa, Ontario, was charged Wednesday with sexual assault on another member of the canadian armed Forces.

    The sexual assault allegedly took place in may 2016 at the royal military College Saint-Jean, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Montérégie.

    The military arrested for this alleged crime is warrant officer Rickey Bursey, of the 2nd combat engineer Regiment.

    “It is important for victims to know that the national investigation Service canadian Forces takes all allegations of sexual assault very seriously,” said lieutenant-colonel Kevin Cadman.

    “The sexual behaviour, harmful and inappropriate and have no place in the canadian armed Forces, and we are committed to ensuring that all matters are investigated to the fullest extent of the law, while remaining vigilant and respectful of the needs of victims who denounce such acts,” he added.

    The case now follows its course in accordance with the system of military justice and could be the subject of a court martial at a date and place yet to be determined.
