SHAWINIGAN | A man sentenced to a year in jail for having kicked the head of a partier at the Festival western de Saint-Tite has not apologized to the court, while his victim will live forever with titanium plates in the head.
Marc-André Paquin has been sentenced to 12 months in prison on Wednesday morning, at the courthouse of Shawinigan, for aggravated assault in the place of Martin Caron.

Martin Caron seemed nervous before addressing the judge
After an altercation between the two men in the night of 17 to 18 September 2015, in the Festival western de Saint-Tite, Martin Caron had bent down to pick up a stuffed toy that he had won.
Marc-André Paquin, also drunk, took the opportunity to strike him hard with a kick to the head, in a movement reminiscent of a “kick in football,” said the judge Simon Ricard. Paquin has then fled the scene, leaving behind him Martin Caron, the head of which had violently hit the ground.
Martin Caron remained for seven days in a coma and underwent several operations. He had to relearn to read, write and speak. It must now live with the titanium plates in the head.
Marc-André Paquin was arrested a week after the events, after that the brother-in-law of the victim, Louis Boisvert, had offered a $ 5000 reward to find the culprit.
