Mr. Aussant is expected to announce Thursday afternoon that he will be candidate for the Parti québécois in the general election of 1st October.

Even if the co-spokesperson of Québec solidaire recognizes having had discussions with Mr. Aussant concerning a possible application for QS, it is said not to be disappointed to see him join the ranks of the Parti québécois.

As for the fact that the party founded by Jean-Martin Aussant of Option nationale, has recently merged with QS, Ms. Massé does not see any inconsistency.

“This is not Jean-Martin Aussant, who has merged with Québec solidaire”, she said.

“The people that have merged to form Québec solidaire and Option nationale have understood that in QS, the vehicle that we offer for our creation is consistent”, she added.

The vice-leader of the PQ, Véronique Hivon, has preferred not to comment on the “speculation” regarding the return of Mr. Aussant in his political formation.
