This week, the team of the emission “J. E.” focuses on a phenomenon that is taboo and disregarded: sexual abuse of children perpetrated by other young people in schools or during school-related work.
The phenomenon is difficult to quantify, but is well known to specialists. Requests for assistance in what is called the sexual behavior problems (CSP) have been increasing since few years.
“J. E.” has met with three families who have experienced such a situation. In two of the three cases, the one who had asked these gestures had less than 12 years and could not be prosecuted.
In all cases, the young person in question was able to continue her educational path, while the victim has had to change school.
For victims, the consequences on their lives are numerous. “Young people can be very wicked. When there is a rumor that short, it is like the truth,” says a young woman for whom the years of high school were particularly difficult.
The report focuses on the lack of protocol in the middle of the education to deal with such cases.
The mother of a young victim confronted the school of his child. “The director, I said to him: “My daughter, when she is on your territory, it must be safe and it is not. So, what you going to do?””
It was then assured that measures would be taken, but, until then, nothing was already in place. “I could see that he was unarmed and that he did not know what to do,” she adds.
The program also explores the roots of the problem. What is it that pushes children of 9 or 10 years to commit acts like these? The experts have their own idea on that.
Don’t miss the show “J. E.” aired Thursday, from 19 h on TVA.
