The minister of Education believes that the voters of Roberval, who supported it in a poll, the reform of the school tax, as proposed by the CAQ did not have all the information in hand.

“If the poll – I have not seen and which is prepared by the Coalition avenir Québec – had said where they would take the money, maybe the outcome would have been different,” says Sébastien Proulx Thursday.
A survey commissioned by the CAQ, and reported by The Journal, reveals that more than 70% of the voters of Roberval – the constituency of the prime minister Philippe Couillard – prefer the proposal of the CAQ equalize the school taxes at the lowest rate in the province, is 0,1054 $ per $ 100 of assessment.
The government Couillard, he proposes instead to reduce the school tax to the lowest rate in each administrative region.
In the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, the CAQ believes that the economy would be $ 520 for a home of $ 280,000 with their mode of taxation, compared to the formula proposed by the PLQ.
Financial framework
For the minister Proulx, the CAQ must say how it intends to fund this decrease in the tax burden on homeowners. It is suspected that the formation of François Legault will have to increase other fees or taxes to fund its promise, if it takes power in October next.
“It takes a lot of dollars to be able to do what we propose, but it will take still a lot more to do what the CAQ proposes. And they don’t have those dollars there,” says the minister of Education.
$1.3 billion
While the promise of a liberal will cost $ 670 million, the CAQ would add another $ 700 million to the bill for the State. “You can’t take $ 1.3 billion like that, which appears here in the passage, and invest it in a tax cut so that we have services to finance, writes Sébastien Proulx. It has a durability to provide the services.”
The CAQ has relied heavily on the decline in school taxes to make electoral gains in some regions the general elections of October next. In the Mauricie region, for example, the formula caquiste would save us $ 520 compared to the formula of a liberal, while the decrease would be $ 422 $ in the Lanaudière region.
But Sébastien Proulx is not afraid that the promise would be detrimental to the liberal troops. “The members of the CAQ, they are going to have to go into the election telling the truth. How they are going to finance this ?”, request Sébastien Proulx.
