MONTREAL – In a message sent Thursday to members, the president of the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) Diane Francoeur has accused the media of pouring in the misinformation regarding the processing of the agreement concluded with the provincial government.

Ms. Francoeur justify the radio silence of the FMSQ since the agreement-in-principle with Quebec announced on 9 February, explaining that she had indicated from the start that no comment would be issued until the signing of the final texts. She accuses the media of “misinformation” in this folder, stating that they have “invented” news in the absence of comments from the Federation.

“The media want news and the journalists are doing their job, but it must be noted that some are trying to force us hand, and not accepting our decision, invent the passage. We read them, we hear them, we look at them and, like you, we include falsehoods, exaggerations, misinformation, projections, and speculations”, one can read in the letter.

The president of the FMSQ continues in the same vein in flesh the member of parliament for Québec solidaire Amir Khadir, himself a specialist doctor, who accused the Federation of being “disconnected” from its members.

“As far as we can go back, Dr. Khadir has never served on a committee or the board of directors of his association of medical microbiology and infectious diseases) and, of course, has never been a member of the board of directors of the Federation and even less delegate its decision-making body. I let you judge it’s your turn.”

“The fake news become the truth to those who accuse us of we be made to engraft a portfolio to the place of the heart,” she continued.

    Savings for Quebec?

The provincial government expects to save over 3 billion dollars with the agreement that it has signed a partnership with medical specialists, according to figures obtained by TVA News earlier this month.

With this agreement, of 8 years, the expenditure related to the remuneration of doctors will increase by about 3 % per year. It was one of the first objectives of this negotiation.

In addition, another $ 1.5 billion (non-recurring) will be paid to doctors, specialists, and spread over 10 years.

The members of the Federation will communicate the details of the agreement “without camouflage” in the coming weeks, promises Ms. Francoeur.
