Pierre Karl Péladeau casts doubt on a possible return to active politics as early as this year.

“I do not close my door. I have always been attentive to the fate of Quebec, and then I’ll stay,” said the CEO of Quebecor, owner of the Newspaper and VAT News, in an interview with Mario Dumont in LCN Friday.

The former leader of the Parti québécois, which has left the political life in may 2016, is being questioned by Mr Dumont on his intention to return to politics by the general election held on 2 October next.

“God only knows. I know that it’s now my formula that is used can be too easily and readily. But one thing is certain today, tomorrow, and next week I am CEO of Quebecor, certainly in the next month. Now that is what the future holds for us? It would be inappropriate for me to tell you, because I don’t know, me neither,” said Mr. Péladeau.

In January, Mr. Péladeau said to be “in reserve” of the republic. This statement made waves in the caucus présessionnel of the Parti québécois, where the leader of the Parti québécois (PQ) Jean-François Lisée had invited Mr. Péladeau to get back into politics.

“Of course I want the coming [the PQ] of someone so strong, so determined,” had launched Mr. Lisée.

“I lay my game : yes, I think it would be a good idea, and he knows it,” said Mr. Lisée. He indicated that he had discussed this issue with Mr. Péladeau. “I feel that this is a reflection that he is leading, but for the moment, what it sends to us as signal, it is not,” he said then.
