In total, there are about 16 students from this school who went home with burns on the thighs and buttocks, a few days ago. This is the case of the 5 year old daughter of Martin Brais, which has been exposed during several days of redness and blistering.

“I went to pick up my daughter from school and she complained of pain behind the thighs, so that she was crying in the car. I looked up and I saw that there was a lot of redness, she had difficulty walking,” he told TVA News.

Struggling even to sit down, the girl was taken to a hospital where he was given a diagnosis of dermatitis, or inflammation of the skin. Four days later, she still keeps the marks of the incident.

“This is not acceptable. She has suffered so much,” said his father.

The Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs and the school management will ensure to take the situation very seriously, but the origin of the problem remains unclear. According to a press release sent to the parents, it could be of products used to clean the toilet. However, the cleaning routine and the products have not been changed recently. A meeting of information to make the point with parents has taken place on Thursday.

The public health Branch is involved in the issue and has conducted analyses of the products to try to understand what has been the cause of these burns.

For the moment, and in the days to come, the school will clean the toilet with soap and water only.
