    SHERBROOKE | Three québec universities, in collaboration with the canadian Commission for UNESCO have come together to put in place a chair in the prevention of radicalisation and extremism, violent. The initiative is a world first.

    The three institutions of university education, partners in UNESCO Chair-PREV are the University of Sherbrooke, UQAM and Concordia University.

    At its official launch, Friday, Sherbrooke, officials have explained that the main mission of the chair is to act as a centre of excellence to develop, share and promote research and actions in the area of primary prevention, secondary and tertiary levels of radicalization and extremism, violent.”

    To achieve its mission, the chair already includes nearly forty partners in Canada and around the world. It intends to ensure “a close collaboration between researchers and communities of practice in a comparative perspective, multi-disciplinary and international”. Three professors, recognized experts in the field, will lead the activities of the chair, David Morin, University of Sherbrooke, Ghayda Hassan, UQAM, and Vivek Venkatesh of Concordia. Professor Sami Aoun of the University of Sherbrooke is the acting director of the scientific committee of the chair.
