British Columbia: about 30 injured in a pile-up

    HOPE, b.c.- A mega pile-up has sent 29 people to the hospital, Sunday night, on the Coquihalla highway to Hope, in southern British Columbia, approximately 155 km east of Vancouver.

    The injuries of those transported to the hospital range from minor to very serious. No deaths have been reported.

    More than a hundred other people have remained stuck on the fast lane because of the accident.

    According to the emergency health Services of the province, two semi-trailers, two buses and two cars were involved in the pileup, which occurred shortly after 20 h, Sunday evening. The search and rescue service local has mentioned that a three-bus, four semi-trailers and 17 car had been involved. At least one of the two bus overturned on its side in a ditch.

    The first respondents had worked for a large part of the night to free people trapped in damaged vehicles and to carry a total of 136 persons not injured into a centre of Hope.

    The highway was completely reopened at 8: 30 a.m. Monday morning.
