Threats and criminal harassment: a police officer from Gatineau is stopped

Suspected of having threatened to kill municipal workers, a police officer from Gatineau was arrested upon his arrival at work on Friday morning.
Jonathan Lévesque is facing two counts of uttering threats and criminal harassment.
The facts which are alleged to have occurred on Tuesday, while he was in service.
According to the authorities, he allegedly “made threats to cause death or bodily harm in the place of certain employees of the City of Gatineau”.
The police officer was released on a promise to appear over the next few days.
“The policeman referred to was assigned to administrative duties at the event,” said the police de Gatineau in a press release.
Following his arrest, Jonathan Lévesque has been suspended with pay.
If he is convicted, the officer could be impeached, according to the Law on the police.
“The direction of the police Department of the City of Gatineau recalls that it demands that its police officers meet the highest standards of ethics and professional standards.
She does not hesitate to put in place resources and processes to establish a truly ethical culture within its organization,” wrote the Leadership of the police service in its press release.
The police de Gatineau has not revealed more details about the circumstances of the event involving one of its police officers and has refused any interview on the subject.
