Jennifer Drouin, the candidate of the Parti québécois (PQ) in Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques, is calling for the resignation of Gale Pettus, coordinator of Québec solidaire, in this county. The catch is that the latter no longer occupies its functions.

On Twitter, Ms. Drouin speaks to the co-spokesperson for QS, Manon Massé, sharing screenshots where Gale Pettus describes in particular the leader of the Parti québécois, Jean-François Lisée “mononcle racist” and claiming that the PQ, “the boat sinks”.

“Ms. @ManonMasse_Qs, your coordinator in our county #SMSJ, where I am the candidate for @partiquebecois, holds about intolerant. I claim: 1) an apology on your part; and (2) the resignation of this person in your organization. #polqc” wrote Ms. Drouin.

The candidate the pq has added a layer of it on Facebook, denouncing the fact that Manon Massé “refuses to condemn these remarks”.

“The “for” of Québec solidaire in the Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques, Gale Pettus, has described the leader of the Parti québécois, and by association the 90 000 members of the Parti québécois supporters, including myself, “racist”. Despite requests to condemn the words of his coordo, Manon Massé remains silent. By their silence, they endorse the defamatory remarks. It is unacceptable for the coordo of Manon Massé in Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques to treat the leader of the Parti québécois and its 90 000 members of “racist”. I don’t accept that they treat me “racist” – especially given that I lived for 6 years in Alabama and I saw up close what is racism. It is all the more unacceptable for Manon Massé of refusing to condemn these statements”, she says.

Called to respond, the press secretary of the parliamentary wing, Québec solidaire, Renaud Poirier, limited himself to say that his party was not going to comment on “baffles on Twitter” and stated that Mrs. Pettus was no longer the coordinator of the party for a good time.

At the time of the writing of this tweet, Gale Pettus referred to always be “For QS in SMSJ” on his Twitter account.

The latter has also confirmed to Ms. Drouin that it was more of its functions and has updated his bio on Twitter…
