MONTREAL – The minister of the Quebec Family Luc Fortin announced Tuesday the creation of 2000 new subsidized spaces in childcare centres and early childhood centres (CPE) in Quebec.

Mr. Fortin has said to be able to make this commitment thanks to “a year in review”, which helped to better understand the needs of care parents.

Thus, 1400 spaces will be created in the “territories in the deficit of places”, 200 will be in disadvantaged areas and 400 “in response to the recommendations of the advisory committees on the allocation of seats”.

Approximately 85 % of the spaces will be implemented in CPE, and 15 % in subsidized childcare, said the minister.

Daycares and CPE eligible will have until June 6 to submit their project, after which an analysis will help to clarify the distribution of seats.

In addition, the ministry of the Family announced measures to facilitate the creation of 3800 other places in sectors with a demand, in particular by contributing more to the financing of the infrastructure of the CPE.
