The remaining tensions in the Bloc québécois (BQ) cause an awkward situation in the ranks of separatists. In Quebec, the leadership of the Parti québécois (PQ) invites its members and its members the greatest possible caution.
Sources have indicated to TVA News that the leader of the Parti québécois, Jean-François Lisée, does not appreciate at all the turmoil in which is immersed the Block in the wake of the resignation of seven of its ten members. While the head of the parti québecois seems to be the starting a slight rise in the polls, he would not like the situation at the Block vienna rein in the momentum that it tries to give.
Over the years, a distinction between the Bloc and the Parti québécois is installed. Also, a number of personalities from the PQ, including the president, vice-president and candidate, withdrew from an event that will be held in Montreal next Sunday, on the sidelines of the international women’s Day, and to which the leader of the BQ, Martine Ouellet, must also take part.
A tribute to the ex-bloquiste Vivian Barbot was also planned on the occasion of this event. However, Ms. Barbot is part of the 21 people who have signed the letter calling for the resignation of Martine Ouellet.
Reaction of the Block on Thursday
The representatives of the BQ will hold a press conference Thursday morning to provide an update on the situation.
According to what is stated in a press release, “a proposal that will articulate the following things in order to gather around the Republic of Quebec,” will be unveiled.
The press conference is scheduled at 10: 30 a.m. in Montreal.
