A man lost his life Wednesday in a road accident in Val-d’or barely an hour before the start of his trial for sexual assault on his daughter.

“I feel relieved to know that it is 100% sure that he will never hurt anyone,” said Wednesday night, without hesitation, his daughter Alyson Berube, who is now 18 years of age.

Marc Belley, 42 years old, was most likely in the direction of the palais de justice de Val-d’or, in the Abitibi region, where it collided head-on with a semi-trailer truck on route 117, near the intersection of boulevard Jean-Jacques Cossette.

“For some unknown reason, the driver of the car got in the way reverse to the time the truck arrived,” said the sergente Marie-Josée Ouellet, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). The hypothesis of suicide is not excluded.

The driver of the car, whose identity has not been confirmed by the SQ, and was transported to the hospital, where his death has been found. The truck driver escaped unscathed.

Living in Repentigny, Marc Belley was facing charges of sexual assault, incitement to sexual touching and sexual interference on a child under 16 years of age.

He has already been convicted of sexual assault on victims (other than his daughter) on two occasions. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison in 2003 and two years in 2014.

    For four years

Alyson Berube alleged on his page Facebook that her father assaulted her.

“It began with touching when we took our bath, for business like that,” she said. After that, he came in my room at night… “

The girl would have kept silent until 2009 before you open up to her mother and complain to the police.

“This year, there was no trial because there was not enough evidence,” she said. But in the past year, I made a complaint and it worked. “

Alyson Berube has no idea if his father was the victim of a pure accident Wednesday morning, since she no longer had any contact with him for nine years. She does not speak more to his mother, who would be separated from her ex-spouse in 2009.
