A family home in Calgary, Alberta, has won the case after losing custody of the children whom she had to have refused to recognize the existence of the Easter bunny.

In 2016, the Society of children’s aid of Hamilton had removed custody of two children to the couple, under the pretext that the latter refused to lie and to recognize the existence of the Easter bunny in front of them.

However, a judge of the superior Court of justice of Ontario has recognized this week that this decision “capricious” went against the freedom of religion and expression of the couple, of protestant confession.

“The dissatisfaction [of the Company] given the lack of promotion of Baars (the family home) to a party “fictional” is clearly not a situation that justified the removal of custody of children,” said judge Andrew Goodman, in a decision issued last week.

The judge was critical of the aid Society to the child for having chosen to promote a belief before you think of the well-being of children. He also deplored the fact that the family has received only one-day notice, informing them that they will lose custody of the girls.

Judge Goodman recognizes, finally, that the decision of the Company has affected the chances of the couple to adopt a child.

According to the Toronto Sun, the director of the Company of the children’s aid of Hamilton Dominic Verticchio, has acknowledged that “mistakes were made and we learned of them. They were good adoptive parents.”
