The ex-mayor of Terrebonne, Jean-Marc Robitaille, who was arrested Thursday for corruption said not to have been surprised, but rather “relieved” when he came out of the headquarters of the Sûreté du Québec in Montreal in the early evening.

“I’m not surprised, I’m relieved it’s been a year and a half, we know where we are going” he started.

When asked whether he had something to say to those who had elected, the ex-mayor said: “They trusted me for 19 years, I think I served very well.”

It has not extended on the grounds of his arrest by the Unité permanente anticorruption (UPAC). “I have things to deal with in terms of what is happening with the UPAC, you know the folder, so I will not make further comments”, he added.

The ex-mayor and four others for their involvement in a scheme of bribery alleged.

The police have arrested the ex-chief of staff to the mayor, the ex-director general of the City, the entrepreneur Normand Trudel, as well as the engineer Jean Leroux. Later in the morning, the ex-mayor Jean-Marc Robitaille was arrested.
