A fiftieth anniversary to the heavy criminal past, who had begun serving a sentence of six months in prison under a false name, will eventually pass 10 times more time behind bars for the theft of jewelry and identity theft.

“It was a well thought-out, well-prepared, it requires a certain chutzpah. We don’t have much sympathy for someone like you. This deserves a sentence copy “, began the judge Carol Richer, at the palais de justice in Saint-Jérôme, Tuesday.

Claude Létourneau was arrested last month shortly after stealing gold chains worth 1200 $ to bijouterie Doucet in the hub of the North, to Saint-Jérôme.

Handcuffs, Létourneau had claimed that he was Andre Martel, a knowledge for which he had been posing for the past two years. It was made of real id cards in the name of Mr. Martel, in which a driving licence.

    Fingerprints

It is under this same name that he had pleaded guilty in February to charges of theft in front of a judge, received her award and started the purge. He was then sentenced to six months in prison.

Two weeks later, the results of the fingerprints revealed that he was actually Claude Létourneau. The judicial proceedings had to be resumed.

Letourneau was eventually sentenced to five years in penitentiary, including as a result of new indictment, but also because of its heavy criminal past.

He had been sentenced to four years in prison in 2012 for having hidden the syringes in clothing sold by shops of Sherbrooke.
