Surely you’ve seen these pictures circulating on your social networks in recent weeks. The movement is also spreading fast that the straws are building up in our oceans: it is time to stop using these small pieces of plastic that are eventually… nothing.

In fact, internet users around the world are likely to share images of awareness environmental by using the hashtag #StopSucking. Here are a few:

These small objects that we use for only a few minutes, pollute the planet for hundreds of years. They do not recycle, do not recycle and are not biodegradable.

They expose us also to the chemicals contained in the plastic and put the marine life in great danger once in the ocean.

Nearly 500 million straws are thrown away each day in the United States.

The effects of the movement are already being felt. Several resorts in the south like us, have adopted new environmental policies and no longer provide straw for their customers.

Other options?

If you really can’t go straws, opt for drinking straws in paper that they are biodegradable.
