    DRUMMONDVILLE – Well-known policemen, Yvon Hamel, 74 years old, was arrested in the Centre-du-Québec in relation to the alleged trafficking of narcotic drugs.

    He appeared Wednesday at the courthouse in Drummondville, where he has been accused of simple possession of hashish, possession and trafficking of methamphetamine and receiving stolen property over $5000.

    In 2010, Yvon Hamel, was sentenced to five years in prison for conspiracy and drug trafficking.

    A few years ago, the resident of Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, near Drummondville, was arrested in the company of half a dozen individuals. Believed then to be the head of a network of dealers of cocaine, which had worked mainly in bars.

    At the time, in his residence in the rank Watkins, that he still lives, police had seized nearly a kilo of pure cocaine to 80 % and more than $ 160,000 in cash.

    What was of particular at this time, it is that his organization was in no way linked to groups of motorcycle gangs.

    Nine years later, the team of dedicated investigation and co-ordination on the organized crime is returned to his home to stop again. Inside his residence, they discovered the cannabis, hashish and methamphetamine. Hamel also had in his possession more than $ 34,000 in money.

    Me Justine Denis-Giard of the prosecution opposed his release. Yvon Hamel will thus pass the night behind bars and will be back in Court on Thursday.
