Techno 4 February, 2017

This is the season of financial results. Sony unveiled its figures for the fourth quarter of 2016 and at the same time its sales of smartphones over the same period.

Sony sold only 5.1 million Xperia smartphones in the last three months of 2016. This is better than the third quarter but is much worse than in the fourth quarter of 2015. This is 33% less than the previous year.

At that time Sony had managed to sell 7.6 million devices. The decline in sales led to lower revenues in the mobile division. Sony recorded a turnover of 2.2 billion dollars, a fall of 35%. The company nevertheless recorded profits with $ 187 million.

Sony attributes this small performance to low sales in Europe.

The end of fiscal year 2016 for Sony ends at the end of March this year. The Japanese firm initially planned to sell 17 million smartphones but it has lowered its claims.

She now estimates Xperia’s sales at 15 million units. This time it is Eastern Europe and Latin America.

Results Sony could rebound in 2017. 5 new smartphones Xperia would be unveiled at MWC.
