The holidays have taken the lead at Châtenay-Malabry (Hauts-de-Seine). Most of the students of the elementary school, Leonardo da Vinci, deserted corridors. According to Le Parisien, the parents of 117 children have refused to take him to school. They fear an epidemic of scabies, despite the comforting words of the regional Agency of health (ARS) Ile-de-France.

In a few days, 23 graduates of the school have suffered from a strong itching. Community physicians can diagnose scabies. But the specialists of the ARS, sent, do not share this opinion.

In reality, only two people suffer from this parasitic disease. One is educated to Leonardo da Vinci, the other to kindergarten Suzanne-Buisson. “Contamination as fast is not characteristic of scabies,” says the LRA, interviewed by Le Parisien.

The trail of the caterpillars

Then, how to assign these bright itching that has plagued the daily lives of young patients ? According to the parasitologist sent by the ARS, two hypotheses are to be preferred.

The first track concerns of small insects that invite themselves regularly in the course of recreation. The caterpillars processionary, which come down from the trees in the spring, are known for their stinging hairs. It is sufficient that the children will affect them, so that they are introduced under the skin, causing itching.

These small animals are particularly stinging from may to July, and very well installed in the Île-de-France. Their presence had been the subject of a report in mid-June. After this alert, the school Leonardo da Vinci has been cleaned thoroughly.
