GATINEAU | A motorist has escaped after having struck a cyclist, who was seriously injured, on the boulevard Maloney in Gatineau, in the Outaouais region, at about 2: 20 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The man of forty years was travelling eastbound in the right lane on the boulevard Maloney aboard his bicycle when he was struck from behind by a motorist who refused to stop, said lieutenant Jean-Francois Beauchamp of the police Department of the city of Gatineau (SPVG).
The victim was transported to a hospital in the region to be treated for serious injuries to the legs, but it does concern not for his life. During transportation by ambulance, he was aware of it.
The traffic will be so hampered on the boulevard Maloney, as it will be closed between Main streets and Oak. Motorists are asked to use Broadway street to continue their route.
The investigators of the SPVG will be on-site to attempt to reconstruct the circumstances that led to this incident.
The officers of the SPVG have raked the surroundings of the scene, but have not been able to locate the vehicle of the suspect.
